"Moving will be made to interrupt spellcasting at a point in time between patch 1.20 and 1.21."
Do not like, nor want.

Yea, I hadn't seen that coming in 1.20. I liked not have to worry about how moving would interrupt spellcasting.
Good! I keep wanting that to work, and it never does!
(I'm still programmed from 6+ years of Final Fantasy XI. Do what my sig suggests)
I'm kind of torn about this..on one hand, it's nice I'm able to cancel spellcasting with just one step to the left, right or elsewhere.
But on the other hand, it's horrible to not be able to cast while running anymore!:(
What's wrong with it? People complain about having to "push more buttons" or "go through menus" for certain things and it works just like FFXI spell cancellation which worked just fine unless you had a twitchy mouse/controller.
I actually liked that we were able to cast while moving... But, I guess it was too good to be true...
If the intent is to make it easier to cancel spells, why couldn't they do what they did with queue spells? Best of both worlds and doesn't restrict to one play style.
(Plus, with server lag, I can't cancel a cure spell majority of the time anyways. Of course, it 100% when I need to cure myself, and it is cancelled and I die :x )
@KiriA500: Sorry, turn off signatures, since some people like to have 3/4's of their post filled only with their signature. Wish SE would limit how much can be put into a signature box.
captain picard was contacted and told about this change. he sent back the following image to express his reaction

A good portion of the vitriol being spewed on these forums been directed at being locked into one place while performing actions.
So what's the response? mages you have to stay in one spot to cast now.
how bleeping hard is it to hit the button you used to start casting again to stop it?
Disregard, Griss edited his post. :x
please Devs, no. Don't. i mean it. just don't.
Please don't do this! I hated this aspect of Final Fantasy XI, and I thought we had moved past it.
At the very least, if there is some fun gameplay aspect that you want to implement, but which can't be implemented unless movement cancels spellcasting, please tell us. Otherwise, I really, really hate this idea.
This is may be just me but I'll gladly give up casting while running to get this.
I don't mind it. i've been indoctrinated by ffxi's play style as well.
Could we also cancel spells by hitting esc/cancel button on gamepad. Thanks.
there is no reason to do it.
seriously.
tell me 1 thing that improves the playing experience binding the mages.
It didn't work out too well in FFXI, if I remember correctly, if you started to cast right after stopping, you would most likely get your cast interrupted, you had to wait at least 1 second to compensate for the lag.
This is an unnecessary change.
The only thing more annoying than this was when you'd get your casting interupted by a low damage hit.
Bad change is bad.
Oh here we go again... blah blah blah.
No I want this... no I want that. BLAH BLAH BLAH
Please stop, you have a whole 2 months before this is implemented, then you will see what they have in mind with it and what will be tied to that other than spell cancellation. Geez people...

Same, another sneak tweak from the devs. Why is it bad to move and cast spells? They are taking away animation lock in 2.0, right? Hopefully we can move and cast spells just like fighters will be able to move and attack.
It's all those little sneak tweaks that sometimes make me wonder what is going in the developers' office. Can we be enlightened as to why this needs to be changed? (Don't tell me it's because someone complained...)
I've played with this feature since 2004ish in xi, I don't need to wait and see to know how it works.
Honestly how many "omg wait till the updates happen" comments have you posted recently? I'm seeing you popping up in a crapton of threads with similar responses.
No one is saying it is. However, this is a forum designed to discuss what the developers are planning to implement. If we took everything up the butt without contestation, they would never get feedback from us. 2 months before implementation is the time to talk about a feature that is likeable/unlikeable, not the day before the patch.
Because this is why they didn't release the patch notes early. Because everyone freaks out and they haven't even played the patch themselves. I'm sick of the OMG WTF SLJKFSLJF threads that don't need to be happening.
I could care less what they do, as long as I can still be a mage and cast spells I'm happy. They probably have something planned with this in mind, so why not wait?
NO LETS POST MOAR THREADSSSS
Actually, a lot of changes are made with long term in mind, and we don't know what else is planned because every time they make a change it's specifically for the purpose of another mechanic change they're going to implement.
It worked fine in FFXI unless you somehow had a PC that couldn't run the game or your system was wearing out to the point you didn't realize you moved. (Trust me, there were almost no complaints about how to interrupt spells in XI, the main complaint was mobs being able to interrupt you with a petty hit at lower levels.)
Also CrystalWeapon, half the threads beingn posted are people misreading or not reading at all what was in the patch notes. They see something, don't continue reading, and post another thread. There are at least 2-3 already.
It didn't completely work fine, there was always latency b/c the distance to the servers. It always made it annoying when kitting and nuking b/c you had to give yourself a second or two to stand still after distancing yourself so that your nuke didn't get interrupted by lag.
I kinda like how mages can also run and heal in parties / dungeons / and such in this game when the DDs are constantly on the move. If you're doing something really active where you have to constantly be moving or dodging and your mages have to be stationary, you're going to run into problems.
Offtopic:
If anyone, you appear to be the most agitated out of everyone.
Your 'everyone' is a page of topics on a forum; which you are considering 'everyone' is your own fallacy at best.
You mention you could care less what the Dev's do, yet you continue to post in response to threads that are part of a upcoming update? Instead of trying to attack every topic, why don't you try to contribute to them instead?
What else do you expect? A bunch of topics to appear when patch notes are released saying "Thank you SE"?
FFXI - Did not have a reliable way to provide feedback to the Devs until recently. Most players have learn to adapt to the system that has been in place for years as the players are used to 'working with' the current game. This is a contributing reason why you don't see this request on the FFXI forums.
