Help figuring out of my potato will run SB?

My current gaming computer is a 6 yr old Lalafell that does well enough for the things I want to do in the game, but I'm a bit concerned that changes to graphics, etc in SB are going to push it over the edge. I've looked up the min requirements, but to be honest, it's been so long since I've been into tech some of the names are foreign to me. Could someone please put them in terms of GPU Xgigs RAM, CPU Xgigs processing and Y# of cores, etc?

I ran the benchmark and got a Standard result. Should this mean I'll be able to run it? I'm not a huge dungeoneer and certainly not a raider so I don't expect to be having issues with the machine blowing up from particle effects. I just want to know if I can run SB before buying it and finding out I can't play it.

When designing a gaming PC, some new terms have come up because additional specs became relevant.

Some things to look for are:
GPU (Graphic Processing Unit): Typically, this is referred by the card type such as Nvidia GeForce 1080 GTX

VRAM (Video Random Accessed Memory): In terms of system requirements, this refers to the amount of RAM that is sitting on your graphic card. (Do not worry about the type of RAM such as GDDR5 as you have no control over that.)

CPU (Central Processing Unit): When it comes to system requirements, the only real thing to look at are: 1) Does it have at least 2 Cores before multi-threading? 2) How much speed does it have? (Other specs are very important, but you do not need to worry about it unless you want to build the best or even overclock.)

Another thing that is not really mentioned is having a Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for your main drive where the game is installed.


If you are still wondering what cores have to do for CPU, it is the number of physical CPU combined into 1. For example, Intel i7-6700 has 4 cores and is hyperthread to have 8. That means that CPU can process up to 8 commands at once because the hyperthreading allows each core to handle 2 commands at nearly the same time.

Hmmm, let's see here.

I know my machine has:
Intel quad core
HDD
Nvidia 1.2g (?) GPU

I suppose I'm going to have to figure out the hardware specifics when I get home and post them for review.

No worries, it happens all the time.

Open the benchmark once more. under Official Website it gives you 3 pieces of important information.

You operating system
Your Processor
Your Graphics Card

It's the quickest way to find that bit of information. As for your ram, you can go to "System" and it will be below Your Processor which is another way to find that info.

On fair warning, you have to be mindful of your motherboard if you want to upgrade your ram, since new ram may be incompatible with older motherboards and the newer motherboards are no longer compatible with older ram. It is a bit frustrating to be honest lol.

I been waiting for a response if I found the matching graphic card or not.

I looked up the specs and while the graphic card I found has more RAM for than the Nvidia GeForce 750 GTX, which is the minimum GPU on their system requirement, the GPU I found is about 500MHz slower, which could be a problem. If IQ is looking for running higher than minimum, then upgrading the graphic card will be needed.

As for other parts such as the RAM, CPU, and motherboard; IQ has to let us know in order to help with those.

If the benchmark wasn't enjoyable, the only tweaks you still can do is lowering settings or resolution or both. If your target is 30fps you need tweak settings until you get a score of about 4500. Then write them down to set that way the game when it comes up.

I'm not a tech expert, just sharing from experience...
I have the game installed on two PCs--a mid-ranged gaming desktop, and a mid-ranged laptop with a dedicated low-end GPU.
my laptop more or less passed the minimum requirements for stormblood:
Processor: INTEL CORE i7 5500U(2.4GHZ)
Memory: 4GB DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA® GT940M 2GB
and it got a High score (on standard laptop settings) from the benchmark.
currently, it plays so-so in 24-man raids or in shatter. it's OK in dungeons but the loading screens take a while, speed-running is a no-go.
I believe there's a lot more involved than just hardware that contributes to the performance. basically, I don't log in my laptop if I want to play busier content like raids etc.

in short, your machine can run the game, but it might take a lot of tweaking to adjust to the game's demands for certain content.

Actually, your setup sounds a lot like mine. It does better on laptop settings and got the STD score on desktop. I feel a bit better now, but will still be getting what stats I can for confirmation here later.
