I would not say leaving the story behind because we are still in the shadows of 1.0 story involving the Ascians and Garlean Empire.
1.0 will still haunt the combine of SMN and SCH (they did not show the splitting) retainers ( our retainer system is PURELY because of 1.0) and because of 1.0 retainers, it runs into inventory management problems. They really need to overhaul this, maybe 5.0 once they discover it can no longer work, and bad/laggy coding of response of input.
sure there is more,, can't think atm.
Oh yeah classes though that is a sub issue of the SMN and SCH thing. Once they split the jobs, then the classes is simply a remembrance of 1.0
The market board itself is not a 1.0 thing, but how they interact with retainers is.
the 1.0 is still the base of this game, whatever you think people, the race, the world, the different faction present or the story was already present to a certain degree in the 1.0.
it's like say to people to scrap wow vanilla with the last expansion, when it's still part of the world you explore, event with the change of the area it's still the same world...
plus just like this, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 will always be there in some way... we only get an upgrade of the game called FF14 into a 4.0...
smn/sch thingy is from the 2.0 not the 1.0.

No it isn't because how classes work, they may of released that for 2.0 but still heavly tied on 1.0 ideas. the reason for the classes was to make your own job basically and try transfer that idea into SMN and SCH. SMN and SCH is more of based of a 1.0 problem, not 2.0 (where they should abolish the cross classing to begin with, the SB updates we are getting could been done in 2.0 but it was rushed i'd assume)
You have more ls then you can hold in 1.0 , or at least early 1.0, I am not sure abut grand company, I do not think that existed in 1.0 ever. For example, uldah, the grand company placement would interfere with the market wards, that section did not exist, or at least did not in early 1.0. The craft system is nothing like 1.0. The only problem you can maybe blame on the 1.0 system is rare chat box errors. (HUGE PROBLEM in early 1.0)
Oh, I think it's been significantly improved since 1.0, after all, you no longer need to hunt for your possible purchases.

There's nothing wrong with the 2.0 market board anyway.
simply no the core idea behind the class system (before the add of the jobs system in the 1.23) was to create your own experience, with cross skill and cross trait, as yoshida have retake the game they have decide to add emblematic jobs for make it more FF like... SCH/SMN is like this not because of the V1 it's actually an idea they have wanted to try for the V2 different jobs coming from a single class. idea that they have abandoned thanks to the sch/smn trouble.
the grand company was in the V1 since i'm a twin adder since the V1. i did start in gridania as monk (yes at this time it was possible to be of different class than the town they are coming from... silly no?)

Not talking about the GC in concept, I am talking about actually joining a GC and having the place there. I know for a fact it did not exist in early 1.0. The uldah place was not even on the map early 1.0 because that is where the market ward was.
I have the point of view the SMN/SCH thing was made because they did not want to fix the cross class system that did not fit in 2.0 anyway. I have the view if they treated 2.0 like they should of how we are getting SB now, SMN and SCH would not have this weird thing going, so i call it a 1.0 problem.
Step back and think about how retainers and the board works. Retainers still sell like they did in 1.0 in a way. They carry the sales, they remove the items for sale when you interact with them. The sales are still listed per retainer. All we got was an interface to remove the looking. The interface is a billion times better. But we are still using remnants of the original system. You just don't get the visual interaction you had before.
Well I did say 1.0 not 1.18 =/ I do not see how having GC or not would fall under if it ends 1.0 stuff completely, in my view I would only say "The end of 1.0" if it meant getting rid of all the problems we had from there, and clearly the retainer system is a big one where that is not the case currently.
That is why I said:
