Houses are too expensive

I simply can't afford them. Can we find a way to lower the prices?

Make gil. Crafting/Gathering/Hunting/Maps....It's not impossible. I dont even craft/gather and I found enough gil to buy a house and plot. >.>

Houses are supposed to be a gil sink. Go work on crafting and gathering if you want to earn regular cash.

Cottages are pretty easy to afford though. I had more than 4 million gil the first time I hit 60 and I wasn't even trying to make money back then.

Housing prices are already too low, as they have been lowered 2 or 3 times since original launch. The prices are now uniform across all servers. Higher population and legacy servers used to pay significantly more than new low population servers.

Yes, crafting/gathering is great way to earn cash but many players just do not like it. For those players do the following:
DoW Gil Guide.
Things not included in the Gil guide:
Do Dragonskin maps for Aquapolis, a full party will have 16 maps, you entry fee will be approximately 100K (2 maps) but you should on average get about 500K for the effort, unless RNG hates you.
Join a raid group and sell Savage clears. These used to go for 1-2 mil a pop, and you get 1/7 of it. Not bad for 10 minutes of work.
Run Diadem, convert those spoils to materia and sell them.
Do some Leve quests, they are just sitting there wasting away at 99.
Beast Tribe missions, the real value here is getting access the highest level of Beast Tribe missions and their vendors. The missions grant Tier IV materia and the vendors sell many popular materials which you can buy for cheap and put on the Marketboard for 2-5x profits most of the time.

And Gill is really easy to make if you know how. Raise your DoH and DoL crafts for one it's the easiest way to make gill. If you run an FC use your airship for relic based items selling really good. If you just want to raise gill by DoW / DoM...good luck you have along way to go. Tank would be easiest or treasure hunting...you will need some type of DoL to get them or you can use market board. Will need min a group of 4 for quick runs who are dependable otherwise 8 >.>

They used to be hundreds of millions of gil. Be thankful they're the price they are now.

They're really not that bad. I don't have a steady cash-flow, and I still managed to save up for a mansion. It took a few months, but it's doable. I just set my savings aside in a retainer, so I wouldn't spend it.

~4M for a cottage is easy, man. Do what the others are saying. I've made MILLIONS off Aquapolis (Dragonskin maps); single drops from there have sold for enough to buy 2+ cottages.

Yup, exactly. A small plot is easily obtainable if you craft and save. 3mil isn't expensive at all.

They're so much cheaper than they were originally.

I suppose it depends on if you mean the price the server sells the house for or the price someone trying to resell the plot sells it for. The prices are more than fair right now when purchasing from the server.

If we just had instanced housing, the actual act of obtaining a house wouldn't have to be such a burden... *sigh*

SE pretty much already cut the prices of housing in half already if you still can't afford it maybe you just bad at making money? A small house can be gotten for 5 million or less which is not that hard to make in the game.

The most expensive small is now only 3.75 million...my current homes would currently cost over ~60 million gil less than what I paid for them. A small is easily obtainable if you put money aside on a retainer...every day, put 50% of the gil you make on a retainer and don't touch it until you can afford a house!

If you think houses are expensives, I think you will give up when you will see the prices for interesting furnitures :D
As that was mentionned earlier, gathering around 5-6m to buy a small plot is fairly easy if you sell the many loot you will earn. Some materia sells pretty well, Khloe can give you some nice rewards if you are lucky, treasure maps are almost always a win, even more if you can gather them yourself. And having a DoL at lvl 60 is far from being hard, just a bit annoying but you can sell everything you gather, so it is always Gils easily earnt !

Question is what else do you need gil for...

my money flies up simply because there's nothing to spend it on.... but that's also why people blow 10s of millions on mounts and glamours because what else dod they need gil for.....

Please offer more options to housing similar to apartments. Free Company seal housing or something like that.

Small house prices on my server are going for about 2.5 mil atm. People are letting their land go to try for the new area at xpac. In certain areas like The Goblet, just in my FC's ward there are about 9 empty smalls.

Question: Does the house prices vary on different servers???

Right now, I'm actually thinking about buying a small cottage when Shirogane is available, but I'm not sure if I have enough gil to buy one. How much do cottages usually cost?

Joking aside, WOW. Please tell me you reported that player. SE has been pretty clear about gouging like that being against the ToS, if memory serves. I know the GM I spoke to seemed none too pleased with the guy I reported for trying to flip a medium for 40M.
