[dev 1017][dev????] Behests for all!

At the behest of the Gridanian Airship Company, all carpenters, blacksmiths, weavers, leatherworkers and culinarians are requested to assist with the scheduled maintenance of the Royal Airship arriving shortly.

Ah! I see you are a weaver! Are you interested in helping with the repairs due shortly to the Royal Airship?

Excellent! Weavers are needed to repair the sails, the vestments of the staff and other items. Please report to Timur over there for duty.

You’re a carpenter huh? Get your hide over the port side of the ship. Your work better be top quality! This is the Royal Ship and don’t you forget it!

Synth Behests

Ship/Airship repairs. This should include all crafts fairly easily, the difficult crafts are alchemy and cooking, culinarians could prepare food for ship/airship staff/npc’s. Alchemists can repair using dyes/enamel or prepare fresh engine oil??

Mining Behests

At the behest of the Imperial Guards of Ishguard, Miners are required to relieve the pressure building below the surface of the Northern Mountains. Volcanic Pressure is building up and if not released regularly catastrophic events will surely follow. Don’t worry! We will provide you with a defence for the heat released while you help.

Adventurer! You wouldn’t happen to be a miner would you? According to our estimates there will shortly be a landslide here! Please, with your help, we will be able to clear up and preserve this important trade route!

Greetings Adventurer! This area is carefully managed by the people of …. underground there is a complex system of springs and volcanic rock. This results in the forming of these geysers you can see. Miners are needed to help alleviate the pressure that builds up. If you are interested in helping a party of miners will shortly be braving the treacherous conditions.

Logging Behests

Greetings! This area is well known for its sudden and rapid growth of these vicious plants. We are looking for botanists to cut back the new vines that grow before they can develop into the fully grown mandragoras!

Fishing Behests

I’m not interested unless you’re a fisherman! Oh you are? That’s ok then, I guess you’re worthy enough to share this info with… There are some unusual currents in this area which bring some rare fish to this shore at certain times. One such current is due to arrive shortly and I am leading a group of fishermen to the secret location where it brings the fish to an ideal location to catch! Would you care to join us? You will have to give me the fish but I will pay you well.

I enjoyed reading this some reason. Armorers could repair the exterior plates of the ship walls. Weavers can synthesis sturdy ropes also. Leather patchwork might be more suited then cloth repairs for the sails as well as the clothing of the staff. Can't have our employees looking drab in front of VIP guests. A royal airship must be expected to serve hors d'oeuvres at the very least! A need for cleaning utensils (blacksmith) and cleaning solvents (alchemy) to wash and polish the ship to keep looking its very best. Carpenters would have to make sure the mast, helm and deck are all in top condition for flight.

As for the logging behest, do mandragoras have vines? Maybe they were actually ochu type monsters.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I also like the idea of a behest-like activity that is cooperative between DoH/DoL/DoW/DoM. DoL gather materials for DoH to craft while DoW/DoM protect them from attackers.

Cooperative efforts for the DoH/DoL classes would be great- even if they do not rank up the skills as quickly as behests for DoW/DoM, I think that there would still be a lot of participation just to have some fun and break up monotony. If SE is worried about maintaining a level of difficulty for achieving DoH/DoL ranks/SP then they could offer rewards or special opportunites to obtain materials.

Love this idea, actually there's already something like that in some class quests, but i'd love to see it improved this way

It could also be an awesome way to make DoL/DoH partecipate in storyline quests, much better then parley

Loved every bit of this idea.

1. Would the DoH jobs start their behest in just the cities or couldn't we also extend these types of behests to those random airship outposts throughout the land?

2. Would the DoL jobs have an additional, different behest npc's at each aetheryte camp; or completely different spots?

1. My thinking was that it needs to be a regular event like traditional behests, so an airship arrival would be fitting. In the cities would be fine.
2. I was thinking separate spots but how to include them in a fair way throughout the world is a lot more difficult but hey I cant do their calculations for them ^^ cmon SE! you can do it.

They could also have some at the hamlets, give more reasons to actually trek out there.

+1 to the max. Fantastic idea.

I loved reading the examples, and love the idea for combining multiple trades into one behest as you did with the "Royal Airship Repair".

Also, lol'd in a later post when ochu was clarified as a monster, not a sneeze ^^

I think have craft / gather behests at hamlet would be especially fantastic if hamlet defense events are added. The results of the craft / gather behests could influence the strength of the NPC defense supporting the players conducting the defense.

I think this sounds like a fantastic idea. I'd love to see behests for gatherers and crafters!

Wonder if the DoH/DoL behests should be at the same time as the DoW/DoM behests to make you have to pick which to level.

Or,

Make them appear on the half hour so there is time to get to both in between.

@Lyndria, I would personally say at the same time as other behests. Otherwise I would be from one behest to the next constantly leaving no room for leve parties or grind parties, but I guess thats another one for SE to figure out, it would have massive implications for the balance of the game. Anyway, companies coming soon... lets hope we get something like this somewhere...

I Think a Perfect DoH behest would be us crafters aiding NPC's by either repairing or crafting them new weapons or armor with supplied materials while they do battle against a horde attacking a camp. Horde size and amount of ally npc's varying with group size.
