I'm more excited for Kugane than Doma.

For some reason Kugane looks a lot more appealing to me. Don't get me wrong, I do like the look of the Doman villages that we've seen, but Kugane looks more traditional. Does anyone else feel this way?

Concept art be concept art, and Garleans had their fun so I'm not sure what to expect now, but I'm looking forward to the Ala Mhigo reveal :)

Kugane does look pretty cool - excited to hear they made it so you can have a bit of a vertical element, but I'm wondering if it's for the skilled and if it will leave me feeling hodor and stuck on the ground.. Also I like all the light opportunities it has too (the shift from day to night, all the lamps and such).

Doma was too fast for me to feel like I can judge it fairly, but if it was that blur (imo) vs Kugane then ofc Kugane scored well. But I need to see more lol.

I hear 'Kugane' 'Doma' or 'Shirogane' and all I think of is the rush for housing like

Anyway, to be honest, I'm not really into traditional japanese themes, it's been done over and over already especially in RPGs.

Well we have only really seen the city of Kugane. To be honest, we probably won't see much of the rest of the territory. I would hold my judgement till we see more of Doma itself. Most of the scenes we have seen are either at a distance or of the countryside.

what Doman villages have we seen?

Doma could be the place that gets rebuilt throughout the patches like mor dhona and idyllshire

It's also what a lot of classes in RPGs are inspired by. Can't have a game with Ninja/Samurai type classes without SOME kind of Japanese traditional town.

Doma is more mongol or chinese than japanese.

Medieval times if anything has been exhausted in MMOs I feel personally. Oh that and molten lava caves/dungeons, I'm so sick of lava, haha.

As far as I know Doma is the City-state and the region it's in is Yanxia. Maybe what they've shown thus far are the hamlets/small settlements that are in Yanxia? Also, just because it was "razed" doesn't mean that the Garleans are (forcing people) to rebuild it. Plenty of real cities were destroyed/bombed but have been rebuilt and resettled after all

Anyways, we've got so many "far eastern" stuff (even a holiday)in this game that it's about time we go there. Now that I think of it, there aren't that many Ala Mhigan things besides refugees and that one fish

I too like how Kugane looks, and housing will not be available at launch of Stormblood folks...
But yes the hoard will be around when they do launch, lol

I may not know what day it will release, but I'm already feeling a cold coming on that will stop me from going into work that day. What a coincidence.

I personally am REALLY excited for Doma!! I hope there are lots of zones to explore because China is absolutely gorgeous, and if Doma is inspired by China it will be so good!

Geographically Doma feels like China, along with the Xaela, but everything else feels Japanese. I think the key is to realize that the east is its own thing, inspired by real eastern cultures, and nothing more. We're going to take Yoshi P's word for it.

Kugane is actually part of Hingashi. Hingashi is a separate nation-state from Doma, with very direct Japanese-cultural references.
