Hello fellow adventurers!
Just wondering.... Do you guys like the fighting system as it is now? I think its good. But i'm so used to the FFXI system( Been playing FFXI since release retired now and also started ffxiv since release ) Something about FFXI just really got me sucked in. i always had the feeling to explore and kill mobs solo. I just dont feel that way with this battle system. i like to explore though but i just dont feel like solo'ing.
What do you guys think about this system? Will they adjust/tweak it?

As far as the battle system, It could use a bit more work to make it more memorable. Targeting is plain awful, and lots of the action animations are unnecessarily slow, and impair movement.Quote:

i hope so yea! I really loved FFXI because of the system. i always had something to do. always had the urge to explore and test/improve my skills ( as in timing abilities etc.) But i just dont feel it right now:(

The battle system still has a loooong way to go. Hopefully the new combo system adds some pizazz.

So i just heard they are remaking this whole game FFXIV 2.0 And its released in 2012 NOV.

Sounds cool. Made me wonder though.. How the the first guy who worked as dev for ffxiv 1.0 hold his job... i mean... its really... not good at all... Lets hope this 2.0 is gonna change alot. one whole year... There is yet hope for this game:p

After getting my Pugilist and Thaumaturge closer and closer to level 50, I've pretty much gained a disdain for auto-attack and combat in general. I've almost fallen asleep at my desk more than once after about 15 minutes of playtime. I seriously hope Matsui knows what he's doing. As it stands, paper thin enemies, the lack of strategy needed to take out said enemies, and generally boring abilities(alleviated in 1.20 ideally) does not a compelling game experience make.
Of course while I've made the rant against static SP and auto-attack many times in the past, that ship has already sailed with the Final Fantasy XI fanboys commanding the helm. I said I'd give it a shot once the system was released before giving my feedback and I did, so there's a small piece of my feedback. -

I'd have to say that I don't necessarily like the current battle system. There's a lot I like about it, but it's rather laggy. I find things not being nearly as smooth as they were in FFXI. Speaking of which... I think a lot of what was awesome about the battle mechanics in FFXI were the skillchains. Being able to do those early on was a blast. Towards higher levels they became sort of useless, but early on they really made EXPing addicting. I'd have to say that I feel like I'm playing WoW when I play this game. The whole bound abilities being attached to my 1-0 keys is rather bogus in my opinion. I played with my PS2 controller mostly in FFXI, so idk... maybe I'm still adjusting to this keyboard thing.
But what I do know is that I loved partying. Working together was a blast. I haven't had the same experience in FFXIV. I haven't played nearly enough to form an honest opinion so maybe you guys can help me out. Is there partying in this game similar to FFXI? If so, when does it go down? Are there even party locations. WHERE'S VALKURM DUNES!?! lol sorry for all caps. It felt necessary. -

Well, i've played ffxi since they released it. and i must say i had much for fun in ffxi then i'm having in FFXIV. But after playing some more it's not all that bad but it isnt all that good either. i have heard that they are changing alot in the upcoming year. So we'll see what happens. I think it will be a blast though
