Help! I think I done messed up...

Hey guys, can someone please offer some sage advice. I have physical copies of ARR and HW but I have added the funds to my Steam account to purchase Stormblood. I know that if you purchased the original games via Steam you can only upgrade via Steam but what about if you had physical originally? I can't seem to find an answer online, only for the other way around.

I'm concerned because I've got a message on the Steam checkout telling me that the transaction failed because I need A Realm Reborn. Is this because I NEED a Realm Reborn Steam version or is it just assming I don't have the game in some form?

Does anyone else have experience of this or can point me to an answer?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :confused:

Thinking about it, I think I'm screwed as the install paths of ARR and HW would be completely different to the Steam Stormblood....

Steam works differently (third party gaming network provider ) which is why I hate it :P. If it failed your better off getting it from SE directly or amazon. You can also edit original post to you don't make an additional post. Saves space and number of post you can do on a daily basis.

My BF bought the game on steam. He upgraded to HW on non steam, which he bought off at squarenix website. I think you should be fine.

Hmm... I don't know how it would work though with all of the data for Stormblood being in a different location to the original files??

When you go on mogstation, it ask you to add expansion pack through a cd key, but that's maybe why you can't do it. Since you pre ordered on steam you can only do steam. If you do buy the game on steam > you can do the pre order outside steam or on steam. How much did you pay for and did it unlock on your steam? If not, maybe somone will do a trade off with you?

Are you sure? That definitely did not work for me back when that was a thing I was buying and both Steam and SE said if you bought it through Steam, you had to keep going through Steam.

Stormblood says the same thing in both SE and Steam's respective stores.

I would contact Steam directly being it's their system not sure how it will work :/

No, the game hasn't added to my library I still have the Steam funds that I added to the wallet to purchase it, which is good that I stopped it going through but still ultimately £30 wasted because I added the funds specifically for this game.

Physical copies are considered "pc" versions so they are not compatible with Steam afaik. You could try to get a refund from Steam.

This, contact Steam Support an explain your problem, after all was an honest mistake (but be patient) and should be no problem at all (worst case scenario is going to be one time deal).

Oh, actually you are right. He had the game on steam but he also has a key outside steam, that's why. So he can log on steam version of the game since its the launcher that counts. So yeah the OP has to get refund.

It was a steam code purchased in a store, non refundable! FML. My own fault, I should have checked, so not like me. I got excited >.>
