Missing dyes/colors: When will we be able to dye our gear the color that we desire?

Hello, adventurers.

With the changes to the dying process of recipes spread today, I was hoping that in 1.20 we would also get more color variations and finally be able to dye our gear how we wanted to. But it seems like it won't be possible yet.

Particularly, Yellow, that is my favourite color in Eorzea, is a dye that can still be used in few recipes. For instance, I could dye the Raptorskin Workboots in yellow, but that will be the only piece of my gatherer set to be of this color, and I would like to have every piece of equip of the same dye, a dye that I like.

Now I've a Woolen Gown (Purple)... I chose this color because it looked more particular than the others, but it doesn't really suit my Spirit. I would like to be able to dye my equipments in Yellow, but the data seems to be missing.
My gear is all in different colors because the one that I want is not there. I don't know how many adventurers might understand this, but the color of the clothes also define the character. At least, that is for me, and for this reason I always wanted to have every equipment in Yellow... but leveling up, this color just seemed to end like the dinosaurs.

Another example: the Woolen Shirt is at the moment only available in Purple as an alternate color, and in 1.20 Red and Grey will be introduced. Why is it always these colors? Red, Grey, Black, Purple, Brown... Yellow just seems left out too often.

Also, the color Pink seems to be completely gone and you have to use old recipes to create it. Yeah, there's Purple, but not as many sets as Pink had before. What about all those Roegadyns that would like to create their brand new pink sets??


So... Are there plans to introduce new color variations? I'm not talking about completely new colors (Yoshida mentioned them for the future, if I'm not mistaken), but just giving us the chance to dye our equipment of the color that we desire.

In patch 1.20, I still won't be able to create the gear of the color that I want. I'll live with it as I did until now, but, since in the past I could create Yellow equipments, I would like to know if and particularly when (after 1.21?) this will be made possible again.
As Yoshida said, many of the contents of the next year in Eorzea can be enjoyed only once, and this might apply for leveling up as well: You can do it only one time with your favorite Classes and, talking about crafting (and gathering, post level 27), I've always been doing it with equipments created by myself, yes, but not of the color that I wanted (character's identity). In 1.20 I though this would be fixed for good, but it won't. So... When will it be fixed?

When the color ID system is ready (probably 2.0 if I remember correctly, maybe sooner)

I think the real question most of the forums are asking is:

"When will FFXIV mimic real life so much that I can just play this all day"

I want to tie my shoes, brush my teeth, paint my clothes new colors, put some fakeup on, guy liner, etc..


But I was disappoint at the armorer section... moar kolorz is coming, you must wait to pass go.

I empathize with you. I'm all for more Color options as well if people want to customize their regular gear. :)

But as an FYI, Yoshida-san explained the problem in a post from a few months ago: With the way their inventory / items are set up now, each new Color is expensive to add per gear item (they have to create custom Color Textures per Item). To alleviate this, they are adding a Color ID System, a way to apply any Color to any Item, but that won't be until 2.0. (Link here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post385755)

In the meantime, this fix they are giving us now, is actually above and beyond what I was expecting. They are basically doing throwaway work by adding in additional color variations to this old (current) system, creating custom colored textures, for many items. Originally I was under the impression we'd only get:

* Plain
* Current Available Colors

for each Stat Variation (e.g., Hat (Plain), Hat (MND), Hat (INT)) only.

But they actually gave us:

* Plain
* Current Available Colors
* New Colors

for each Stat Variation, on a lot of our armor. :) It's not all Colors (I know it's disappointing), but it's pretty nice that they took the time to add in more colors considering this is all going to be thrown away for their new Color ID System in 2.0.

I'm saddened I can't create my "Rainbow Knight" and turn all my cobalt plate gear into a different color, but I'll live lol.

Honestly we just have to be patient. As posted above they've already explained the issue and have a plan to fix it. However they can't currently so we're just going to have to wait for a fix.

I just wish they added a couple new colors for armorer I mean all we got was green and only for 1 piece of armor, I'm willing to bet a large group of folks where hoping to get black :(

Yeah well I'd like ANY gear in Orange but we don't have that either lol. There are new colors for some gear aside from green. Cobalt Blue gear, Boarskin gear in Red, Grey and Black, Raptorskin in Green, there's more I'm sure I just don't feel like looking through the entire list lol.

well blue isn't new just new to that tier we always had the blue steel gear.

No, I believe this guy is specifically asking for more colors for customization. Not to brush his teeth. How are these the same?

I wanted to be a purple glad/mrd but alas I'm stuck with either blue or red. Guess I will go blue since the red is argh >.>

This was already stated in a thread I started. Don't feel like linking but just go to my started threads and read the response.

Basically what it says is that it takes a lot of resources and they have to completely redo the item... and they plan on having 24-32 different colors per item.

Don't think anyone expected them to add in 24-32 colors right away, but would have been nice to have a few more choices.

Ah, yes... I remembered I read that post by Yoshida-san... Well, I guess we'll just have to wait.
However, I still think that the Yellow color is really limited, so I still hope that before 2.0 they could add some more gear of this dye. :)

Where's my pink? :( As a female player, I have to admit that I like to make my character look pretty or cute and reflect my feminine side. I cannot do this anymore as I brashly materia-ized my gear without thought when that feature became available without realizing it couldn't be obtained again.

...also, pink gear is amusing on galkas.
