Stormblood Housing Request

Can there please be some sort of restriction placed on housing for Stormblood?

Excluding FCs, there is no need for anyone to have more than one house per server, at the absolute most. Housing shortage is already a serious problem, and it doesn't need to be made worse by players with more gil than sense buying up multiple plots to the detriment of everyone else "because they can." I came across someone with seven houses on one server, and their reasoning was "what else am I going to do with the money?"

There should also be some sort of waiting period after buying your house before being able to relinquish it. A few weeks ago I was searching the aetherytes for housing plots to become available; I noted five or six over two weeks, and all but one was put up for sale the next day. Players desperate for housing are ending up having to pay double or triple to buy houses since some people treat them as a source of profit. Maybe have players be unable to manually relinquish land for 45 days, or impose a limit on the number of times a player can buy a plot over a given time period?

If a lack of housing is going to continue to be a problem for some time, it should at least be made less exploitable.

I like the idea of preventing plot relinquishing for 45 days. It won't stop house flipping but it would discourage it by making it inconvenient. My only problem with this is lets say a fc got a small house and a few days later they spot a medium plot free but they can't get it. That would suck.

Really what SE need to do to make a big difference is have residency shared across all characters on the server. This would mean that if one of your characters buys a house, your alts on the same server have access to it too. On top of that change it so that only one personal house and one fc house can be owned per server.

All this together would mean the most a single player can have on a server is two houses, unless they have multiple accounts. One fc house per server may seem harsh on paper, but really it's incredibly rare for a player to be managing multiple active fcs.

Well, the one plot per account has been brought up before and SE has never responded as far as I know.

Your idea simply delays the sale storm by 45 days. The plots will be sold out within hours if not minutes on day 1 anyway. Then instead of flipping, they have to wait a bit, so what? It is a seller's market. They will sit on it as long as they have to.

We've had what seems to be a couple people on Sargatanas flipping plots near constantly recently. If/when the house moving feature is usable by both fcs and individuals I would love to have both a relinquish timer and a rebuy timer. Once the plot is relinquished, you have a 10-20 day period in which you cannot purchase another plot. Maybe negate the timer if the server swallows your plot on its own.

Admittedly it's not an ideal solution for the initial rush period, but it should at least prevent the constant flipping of houses affected by the auto-demolition timer. Ideally there would be no possible way for players to sell housing to one another, and home-owners could just sell back their house to the game for its original price to open it up for someone else.

A lot of the people that own multiple homes also don't care for them. Neglected Chocobo staples in poor condition. Seeds that have died in plots. The inside a decorating nightmare not giving any thought or pride of ownership. I for one have been looking a while and really hope they will take a better look at this horrific housing issue and resolve all said issues.

Less exploitable doesn't mean not exploitable. I think the only way to get rid of this issue is to add more wards.

I really think just adding more wards isn't enough. On some servers even if they add ten wards tomorrow they will fill up before the week is done. There needs to be much more than just this.

Only real changes can bring about an actual remedy. Increase the amount of tenancy slots in houses. Bring in tenancy for apartments. Limit the amount of houses a single account can own per server. Stuff like this. Restrict things for players who game the system to do house flipping, while increasing residency slots and options so more players have access to housing even if the number of wards doesn't increase.

Nobody will flip houses if they're not worth flipping. One per account seems reasonable for really packed servers, but seems like a silly restriction for servers where there's still empty plots. And the issue of fc leaders being unable to get houses is still there. The biggest issue is going to be too many small houses, not enough medium/large houses. Instanced housing I think is the best solution available but they like their wards.

That, is pure and total GENIUS b/c the people who have more than one house, do so already because they put those houses on ALTs be it an FC or personal. If you take her idea and link housing on each server to SQ ENIX IDs, rather than character names, you'd eliminate the problem of one person owning 8 houses, even w/alts. If you can make mounts/items account bound or character bound, you should be able to do the same for housing.

Hell, I would even be happy paying $5 USD (real currency) to "reserve" a plot via mogstation, then purchase it in game with the gil cost.

Please don't give them these ideas. We have emotes for $7, we have outfits for $18 that don't even come with shoes, gloves or hairstyles.

They have the funds to get more of these housing servers but they won't. They like housing to be something 'prestigious' and difficult to get. They like the scarcity. Even if we had all the wards in the world, everyone would be rioting about how they have to live in a small cottage and not a mansion like they can afford.

Eventually once the game in general dies down, we'll see more housing love. That's the assumption I'm going to make, anyway.

Wow, people can own more than like 2 plots of land? That's pretty dumb. I assumed it would be restricted.

That problem, at least, will already be solved thanks to the Moving system. Even if SE were to add measures to discourage selling between players, a Free Company moving from one plot to another shouldn't be effected by them.

Seen a guy claim to have just bought his 12th house. I'd like to hear some Feedback from the Square-Enix development team on why they haven't implemented a restriction yet? Since they don't allow a monopoly on housing then why allow the freedom to own 12 plots? Are we all missing some simple reasoning behind the lack of action from the dev team that they seem to feel zero need for a restriction? I know they're feeling the pressure from the community about adding more plots. So, Dev team. What's the reason?

I don't understand why personal housing wasn't restricted when the move from FC housing only was made. Give FCs priority over plots and restrict personal housing to 1 per account simple

I run an FC and we have a Medium. I own a person Medium house as well.
I fully decorate each and take great pleasure in how they look.

I have an alt sitting with more then enough gil in the new housing area and I plan on buying a Large house.
This is not to say I am Hording it and I would never flip it.
I just want a house in the new Area
plot 7 hopefully. If they made it so all my Alts could share a house that be awesome.
I wish I could mail my alts as well. If you implement one house per account what house do i get to keep?

We don't hate you. You have a FC and one personal house currently. That is the limit that we all want to see.Everyone should be able to have a personal house of their own, while there FC has its own.

I do disagree with you getting a new house in the new area while you hold one personal one in the old ones though. However, We also do agree that if an account restriction of one personal housing was implemented that they would need to make the house accessible to ALL characters on the account.

I want to buy a house in the new Stormblood area so I think a restriction does need to be in place. No one needs more than two houses. A personal house and a fc house, plus apartment, should be the limit. And you can even add in a personal room too. 3 houses or more and you're just being greedy. I haven't been able to get a house in the 6 months I've been on Sarg, Shirogane is my first chance. Please, if you have a house(s) already, don't be greedy. D:

Alts can't share houses between each other, so I don't see the issue unless that is resolved. Anyone who gets an alt to 50 with enough GC rank to buy a house deserves the chance to get a plot if they want one. Just because you are not as dedicated (or lucky in some cases) as them in finding a plot doesn't mean they don't deserve to have one for each alt if they so desire. The restriction is 1 personal per character which is fair.

Once the game in general dies down, that's going to create even lesser wards. that is also if it will never happen in Balmung. Please don't make mythical assumptions hoping that apple will be dropping down into your mouth from that tree.

This game's housing system is broken and their set of mind in making it "difficult" to get is atrocious for 10+ million players when they have the accessibility to exploit and get 23 plots.

I mean Wildstar was supposed to be THE MOST HARDCORE OF HARDCORE for HARDCORE RAIDERS ONLY! ...Now it's housingstar. For housing. That's all the game can boast it has. It's staying afloat by RPers alone. I don't think that day will come for FFXIV, but if it does, we'll finally see some housing changes. After all, housing is, entirely optional. It has little to do with actual content and people don't NEED it to go raiding savage content. I would rather have more dungeons+raids than more houses, any day of the week. Hands down, forever and ever. I assume they just don't see housing as all that pressing of an issue... yet. After Shirogane drops and they see that there's going to be no leftover empty houses on any server? Maybe we'll get more wards and that's the best we can hope for. I can't forsee them re-doing the entire system because two people have 28 houses. On one server. Out of the entire game.

Besides, it's not an exploit if you can do it and they let you do it. It's not an exploit if it isn't against the ToS. It just isn't. They set the requirements, and the people who own that entire ward on Mateus? Well they must have worked very hard to meet those requirements. Can you imagine leveling 8 or more characters and 8 or more FCs? The gil, I imagine wasn't too difficult to get on a server like that at the time they got it.

...And wait what, so it's ...I'm sorry try that again?

So it's TOO DIFFICULT for people to get, but it's not difficult enough because two people own 28 houses, for over a year, on a dead server ??? That server had more than that one ward empty at the time they bought their houses. They went there on purpose, to find an empty place.

Now see, you can't really compare Wildstar to FFXIV because Wildstar's MMO structure turned into F2P plus no additional contents were updated. FF14 is never going to that path for a very long time.

Again, you are missing the point that people outside of Mateus/Balmung do a lot of housing. Especially JPN players. If you look at Twitter/Reddit, most of them who share their housing designs are actually non Balmung/Mateus and non RPers. This game should never be dungeon/raiding focused.

Can you? Before Mateus moved in, it was a dead server to a point that there are some people who can't really sell items in the market boards due to lack of people willing to purchase it and lack of people willing to sell it. 24-28 houses full of small/medium is literally 96-150 million gil. The person possible bought gil to buy those houses. Who knows?

You are not trying to help this housing system to be resolved. But instead you are basically making an implication of "Don't bother fixing this system. It's not necessary." in a thread full of people who wishes this system to be fixed since 2.1

I'm mostly saying there's no easy way to fix it. People think one house per account will fix it? It won't. Not by a long shot. One house per account may free up ...I'm going to be GENEROUS and say it'll free up about one ward on each server. And that's me being very generous. (Ok maybe a few more than a ward on Mateus lolol)


...That still leaves thousands without a house. Thousands unhappy. Thousands told to MOVE TO A DEAD SERVER and even when they do there's not enough. The only way to fix this, is to literally triple the amount of housing we have now. Or maybe that's not being generous enough. And they just won't do it.

Except people do manage multiple FC's. I manage two FC's both with houses and both FC's are active. Even if it's rarely done it's still done and this proposal would be destroying big and active FC's due to the loss of their FC estate.
