Is there a reason Allied Seal gear is still so incredibly expensive?

It's soon to be two entire expansion-tier content cycles old, yet it still costs the combined wealth of a handful of third-world nations to purchase.

For a less exaggerated figure of it's cost, simply do the math. It comes out to a total cost of 5,540 Allied Seals for a single job's set, which takes 11 weeks (3 months) to farm up if you do every applicable hunt for the duration.

You can sort of grind A and S rank hunts as well to make it take a bit less time, but that's pretty much impossible to really math out due to the many organized linkshells clearing them out on the timers.

Considering these sets have zero usage aside from glamour, there's no reason they should be this tedious to acquire. It only gets worse if you try to go for more than just one set, although it gets a little easier if you don't need a full set.

Even if you just want the body piece (which is the most bang for your buck, so to speak), that's still 1,000 Allied Seals. You can get up to 548 Allied Seals in a week, so that's two weeks just for the body piece.

This is absolutely insane, you could fully gear every job on a single character in actual gear that's Stormblood-ready in a week or two for vastly less effort.

I think you answered the question right there. Granted I admit I think its a bit nuts myself and can't stand hunts so I'm glad I got what I wanted when it was relevant.

I think the Devs just keep forgetting to adjust the cost because maybe not enough people bother buying these things.

It's funny because the old ilvl200 job gear is cheaper, even if you pay to upgrade it for dying.

There's the tracker I use for hunting. A ranks spawn without conditions and most S rank conditions are easy to do on your own. You don't need to wait for a LS to find hunts for you.

I don't know how you figured it would take 11 weeks to get that many seals. That's only 500 per week. There are 17 A ranks in ARR, each giving 40 seals and they spawn every 4 hours of so. Kill 5 per day and you have 1400 seals/week just from that, not counting S ranks.

The prices are so high to keep you grinding.

Meanwhile, in realm of reality where you have to do things such as work, eat, bio, and sleep... You're also defeating your own argument and supporting mine by simply providing further example of why it's so absurd that the cost is so high.

Do you not have an hour of playtime in a day? It doesn't take long to find and kill 5 mobs.

Using the timer listed above makes hunting a very trivial task. Just check if the hunt is alive and go to the zone it can appear in. Its as easy as that. Perhaps your current hunting linkshell is dead or dying? Otherwise it should be easy as cake to achieve 5k seals in a week of avid hunting.

But as you said yourself, its glamour. Its not required to obtain it. If there was relevant stats you would have had a point, this is no more than whining over time consuming grinds in an mmo.

You're completely ignoring the multitude of variables that are involved. The chances of being able to just hop online and get any significant number of A rank kills in any given hour are extraordinarily small. The higher your server's population, the smaller those chances become. Hunts aren't something you can really bring into the equation, and is why I said as such.

I can find 5 hunts easily in an hour on the most populated server even considering variables out of the tracker's control. Join a hunt linkshell that makes timely calls and you rake in Allied Seals. Might want to try hosting a search party. Cover more ground without doubling over and find hunts like candy.

Not a lot of people are hunting right now on account of it being the end of the expansion so you could probably go around soloing ARR A ranks without getting too much flak from people.

The weapons are too damn expensive.

The prices on them are excessive and rather unreasonable even if you're hunting a lot. They could definitely stand to be adjusted but I think it's pretty low on the priority list for SE.

They should just move the GC Arms/Armour to the GC Seal vendor. Even if they make them 20,000 GC seals per item, it would be easier to get the whole set than it is now.

Answer to OP's question: no, not really. It's absurd.

They need to cut the prices considerably.

Everything else from Wolf Mark gear to of tomestone items have been slashed substantially since.

Why hunt seal items have not is likely from players simply never asking for it. I would love to get some of that gear....
