What do you do once you've gotten to 60?

Hey everyone !

I'm asking because I'm finding myself not logging in anymore due to not knowing what to do once I'm logging in and an overdose from doing POTD over and over to level classes that I don't want to play (Those I like are already 60).

I've joined the game about two months ago and since Stormblood is around the corner, I don't see any interest in doing old dungeons for now since every progress I make will be wiped clean come June.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm loving the game, the story and the overall quality of it. I just want to find something that'll keep me interested until stormblood comes out and I can hop back into the hamster wheel of gearing (And be at the same place as everyone else).

Crafting, anima weapon, max out beast tribes etc...

Me? Roulettes, Gear up the classes I still want to run endgame content in, work on getting the garo titles and mounts... Craft/gather for money, fun, and to help friends who also craft.

I just enjoy running content when I feel like it. ( I don't run roulettes if i don't feel like it, ever, which is why i'm still gearing up classes this late. I never forced myself my run roulettes everyday. Same goes for leveling jobs. I just finished getting bard to 60 and that was a job I mained for over a year in 2.0. )

Doooon't level jobs you don't want to play though man ( I think that's what you suggested with the PotD ), play what you enjoy :) If you force yourself to level jobs you have no interest in playing doing PotD then the game just becomes another job itself.

Sometimes you need to set your own goals in this game. I can understand that it feels hard to find something to do or it feels like there is nothing to do but in reality a very very small % of people have completed every peice of content in the game.

I can also understand if there is genuinely nothing you feel like doing or feel like there is nothing for you... here are a few small suggestions of things you can do for fun: Farm ponies and pidgeons, make a 2.0/3.0 relic for a job of your choice ( glamour is the true end game! ), earn enough MGP to buy the gold saucer mounts and emotes ( gold saucer in general TT achievements, Chocobo achievements, so on ), clear savage content from 2.0 and 3.0, set a Gil goal for making money and try to reach it through playing the market, crafting or gathering ( this is one of things im currently doing and i'm almost to my 200mil Stormblood goal :3 ) get your 2.0/3.0 beast tribe mounts and dances. There is ENDLESS amounts of content im sure you haven't touched.

If you have cleared every ounce of content and you still want to play though consider helping your friends and FC do the same. I've always found enjoyment in helping others progress in the game. To me FFXIV is 50% the game and 50% the community. Without the community I wouldn't be here still.

If you don't want to play though and you feel like your forcing yourself then maybe take a break. I know that seems like a terrible suggestion but burn out is real. I've taken weeks away from the game at a time, come back with fresh eyes, and still love it.

Gathering glamour.

It's like 90% of what I do even when the gear treadmill is on >.>

I'm still leveling classes but I find PotD too repetitive to do too frequently so I rely on weekly challenge log, hunt log, roulettes and leves to level. I've also been leveling an alt on and off to have more storage (via fc bank transfer) and to have a fishing retainer eventually just to have it :P

I'd recommend leveling other jobs in traditional dungeons rather than PotD. You may find some of those jobs surprisingly fun when they're played in a real party session. PotD is like a whole different game. When it comes to classes you're not going to play at 60 anyway, it is very much about the journey, not the destination.

Your progression is not wiped clean when SB launches, You still need the MSQ completed and most likely will be a ilevel requirement to join SB content. XIV not like other mmos where you can just jump the old content and go straight to the new expansion content without doing the previous content.

If you have not completed the main story now is your chance prior to the expansion. You'll need to complete it to continue. Imo, the msq for heavensward was really good.

You could leavel some crafting and gathering classes. Collect some mount/minions. Do some chocobo racing. Buy and decorate an apartment if you haven't already. Rank up with your grand company.

I would say go after the Anima weapon but that is a long grind and it will be useless come Stormblood (except for glamour). I am a little burnt out as well, when I log on I just practice with my Dark Knight and try to gear him up. I main as a Black Mage so tanking is still pretty new to me. My DRK is ilevel 250 but I still have trouble because I am inexperienced, so yea. Maybe you can do like me and try to learn a new role?

So you have done every dungeon, including the side Story dungeons. All the major side Story quests. Alexander storyline. Beast tribe quests. Etc. If so then crafting or Golden Saucer is the thing or just play another game

Um....honestly?

I learn how to play that class, try to beat hard SSS dummies, gear up with uncapped tomes/drops, try again, take said classes into ex/savage content for even better gear and try to out dps anyone, do expert roulette & outpreform my whole party by far to get script to get even more gear to outpreform even more. Especially those on the same class as the one I am.

Oh yeah and do stuff with friends.

Having just came back to the game from a 2 year absence myself, I'm gearing my main class up a bit. I'm at the point I can do the HW raids, and Ex Primals, so I just have to find learning parties and a group of people to actually play with, since I still don't really know anyone.
While I'm not doin that, I'm leveling my other classes I enjoy and my crafters to 60, catching up my beast tribes, working on my anima, and farming dungeons for glamour pieces I've yet to get. Oh, and furnishing my little apartment, which I plan to keep until housing issues are properly addressed.

What you shouldn't do though, is force yourself to do things you don't enjoy. If you don't like X classes and you have no need for them to get to a certain level, don't level them. Spend your time on something you enjoy, no matter how silly it might seem.

As others have said, Crafting, Gathering, Beast Tribes. Stuff where the 'progress' will carry over to Stormblood. That would be my suggestion, anyway.

Going forward, by the way, this is something to simply 'get used to' when it comes to FFXIV. The game is strongly vertical, so there is relatively little long-lived content available. Even from one update to the next, a lot of gear will either be replaced or will be made significantly easier to get. This tremendously amplifies the 'hamster wheel' feeling that you referenced. Typically people take breaks as a result; say, subscribe for the first month or two of a patch, and then wait for the next content update to launch before re-subscribing. My personal cycles are slower; I'll play for six months, then quit for a year or so (I maintain interest via Crafting / Gathering rather than dungeons, so once those start burning out, there's little to keep me around).

I'm not Lvl60 yet, but I enjoy doing Chocobo racing/breeding. It can get pretty addicting. Gathering/crafting is quite enjoyable too.

I can see why you might have lost interest in the game. I'm currently gearing one of my alts and man let me tell you, I asked myself at least hundreds of times why I am not just playing my main, since I have everything unlocked and wouldn't have to go through this hassle.

But then I realized that back in the day as I was leveling my main and gearing it, I mostly cut every dungeon/cutscene/side quest/Hildebrand quest and even some primal and raid content.

This time around I only did a couple of hunts/daily roulettes/potd for tomes since it's faster in my personal experience then running older content dungeon and a little pvp. Within a short time I found myself not at ilvl 270 of course but somewhere around 250.

That gave me a lot of possibilities in running the a bit more "up to date" dungeons, raids and 24 man. I wouldn't have to stop during MSQ either because I did have the required item level already. Maybe if you look at it that this way, you will find a bit more "freedom" in your daily gaming or decision making and can enjoy the content till storm blood.

At the end you will need all that anyways unless you plan on leveling the new jobs strictly with potd since any other content would be locked for you and most likely it would take weeks if not months (depending on how many hrs you're playing) to just catch up. Making the new expansion a absolute nightmare for you.

Faff about, mostly.

Best thing to do is to make a new alt account and level a new job. When I'm bored on my main, I work on end-game stuff for my 2 other alts. Take your time with the story and enjoy the journey! :D

In no particular order, I:

Raid
Collect mounts and minion
Craft
Gather
Level up secondary jobs and learn how to play them properly
Make multiple Animas (About to start my third)
Hunt for achievements
Make stupid mistakes on old fights I don't entirely remember. >.>

I dance near the Flames HQ for tips.

I have set goals for what I want to do before SB drops.

Finish learning A10S-A12S
Get my DoW/DoM to i260 minimal (Just need Tanks, BLM, and NIN)
Get my DoH to i180 minimal (I hate scripts)
Get my DoL to i150 minimal (I REALLY hate scripts)
Find the willpower to level my FSH at all :P

I have all crafters and jobs @ 60 so mainly log in to help friends and stuff. I rarely ever cap tomes.
Perhaps you may try PVP and get all the Garo stuff? I have wanted Pegasus mount since first Diadem but never got it so the Garo mount works for me :)

I have been playing since Beta Phase 1 on PS3 in 2013. Here it is, 2017, and I still don't have every job/class at max level. Not that I'm lazy, but I just don't want to. I CAN, but it will be just for the Achievements. Not that serious for me at the moment.

If that will be your only reason, I don't know what to tell you. If you're going to play, then play. Stormblood isn't here, so try to enjoy current content. Do you think the millions of us who played in Beta Phase 1 that knew our characters will be wiped for Beta Phase 2 caused us to NOT make progress in Beta Phase 1? Nope!

As with other players, Stormblood will bring you back, but you will slowly shy away once you've done all that you can in Stormblood; got Primals on farm, maxed your iLv, got the new jobs to max level, then stop playing. Why use Stormblood as a means to keep playing?

Farm birds, farm ponys, do savage for the archievements at least and so on. There is enough to do and nothing will be wiped clean with SB because you keep that stuff and when i look into the lodestone, you didn't do much in this game. ;)

The best advice I can give is go easy on PotD. That thing is mind-numbingly tedious, and too much of it can kill the game for anyone, imo. But a lot of people here have the best suggestions. I just started levelling Crafters recently to give me something to do. Anima weapons may or may not be something youd want to do considering that a couple of the steps take quite a while to complete despite recent nerfs (they used to be much much worse). I agree with Ilan on farming primals. Learning the fights can take some time depending on your group, but theyre fun and provide a decent challenge. And those primal birds? They're personally my favorite addition from HW and I really want to complete my collection. There really is plenty to do for the most part, you just have to be willing to give most of it a shot. Hope you find that motivation!

Also, Hildibrand quests are a nice distraction from the grind every now and then. And they're lengthy also.

There's a lot to do at 60. The important thing is enjoying what you're doing in game.

- Level and gear other DoW/DoM jobs

- Get your anima
- Hit up daily roulettes
- Tackle optional dungeons and trials
- Delve into higher endgame content like Savage
- Race chocobos, fight with minions, or become a Triple Triad master
- Gather mounts and minions
- Go Hunting
- Finish your sightseeing logs
- Hunt for achievements, especially all the exploration ones
- Tackle 100+ in PotD
- Rank up your all your GCs
- Max your squadrons
- Max both ARR and HW beast tribes
- Rank up your chocobo
- Collect barding
- Put together the perfect glamour
