Sry for any odd sentences. I'm on my cell.
Of anything asked for race wise the viera is hands down the most asked for and I do agree. Before I was like whatever we don't need it . But looking at the map the twelves wood is judge and vastly unexplored. The viera are reclusive it stands to reason they could add them easy enough. But aside from that looking at the race itself it would be fun to make one I'll admit . I can see why is still asked for .
Hudge not judge ugghh this cellphone sometimes.
You know you can edit your posts, right? Even on mobile. No need for four in a row.
Anyways, Viera are exceptionally unlikely - it's been mentioned before that they're just too conceptually similar to Miquo'te (this is why we got Au Ra instead). Never say never, but I wouldn't expect anything in the near future.
(And if they do come? it won't be in the Twelveswood).
I would edit if I could the option has issues on my phone but that's mine to deal with as for if they were asked for before it doesn't really matter does it .... I mean. Cat ears tail stripes eyes - dragon Horns tail scales eyes .... That's the same amount of difference and if ur saying cat to bunny I'll seem super funny ( ooo that turned )
Jesus Christ people are so smug and intentionally mean online.... It's as if they get off on being negative to any little thing. I mean my posts r insignificant compared to actual content. It's a what if in general and still people feel the overwhelming urge to take the time to be negative about it. Ugghh so glad my boyfriend is a positive person .
This thread is literally just you typing very hard to read sentences in multiple messages and one person giving you a tip about forum posting. Don't be surprised.
As for the topic, I'm kind of netural on the whole viera subject. I think it'd be nice and I'm sure a lot of people would like to play as vieras, but I think Yoshida has a point when he said that they'd mostly be miqo'tes with different ears. There's also the point about the massive amount of development time needed to add a new race, since all existing gear has to be modified to work with the new character models. I would definitely like to see more of the Shroud though, specifically the West Shroud - it was an area in 1.0 and today it can be seen from Camp Tranquil. It looks really cool from there with the waterfalls and crystal formations.
The editing option doesn't show up if you view the mobile version of the site - there should be an option to "request desktop version" via your mobile browser that shows the full version and you get access to all the usual features (I'm on my phone as well at the moment, it's what I switch to when doing a lot of responding).
Edit (intentionally) to add - hopefully you find this tip useful.
Also, I don't think anyone in this thread is being mean or smug, and disagreeing with the possibility of something or pointing out it's not particularly likely at the current stage of the game is hardly being negative (certainly not in a way that is attacking another).
If Viera do turn up, which I wouldn't rule out since they are rather asked after, I think it is very unlikely to be in Gridania. Perhaps in Ilsebard. The Black Shroud cant be the only large forest on Hydealyn.
We haven't explored much of Gridania but the Gridanians have. Further, the twelveswood has some pretty set rules to it. It seems unlikely a race would go entirely unnoticed. If nothing else the Elementals would know of their presence and through them the Padjal would probably be aware as well.
Mostly what Belhi said: as much as I WANT the Viera to happen (and since they're the most requested race and Yoshi-P's caved in to fan demand before AND there's already concept art for them, with the male Viera cannibalized into the male Au Ra, it's...likely to happen at some point), them coming from the Twelveswood would be weird: the survivors from Amdapor had to work very hard for the wood to accept them back and that led to the birth of the Padjal, if there was suddenly a hidden race that lived in communion with the wood I would assume the elementals and, by extension, the Padjal, wouldn't know about it.
...maybe in The New World? ...I just want my Bunny boy dancer healer <_<
I get that FFXIV incorporates a lot of elements from other FF games into it, including our original 5 races which are essentially modified designs of the FFXI races. But I honestly don't want to see or hear anything of the hide, hair, or ears of Viera in this game. Homages or references to things are fine when their own spin is added (see Crystal Tower series, Alexander, etc.) but this game is honestly at its best when it does original content and that is something I'd like to see a lot more of going forward. Will we see Viera in "Return to Ivalice?" Perhaps. But I hope Ivalice is in name alone and not pure fanservice, because if I want to play a game with Bangaa, Viera, Seeq, etc. in it, I'll play FFXII: Zodiac Age when it comes out.
It is a big place.
Whatever happend to woodsin (greenwrath)?
Edit- As i'm sure i'll be asked.
Also known as woodsin. Greenwrath is a form of bad karma that non-Gridanians tend to accumulate due to act of living in a style that is non harmonious and respectful of nature. People afflicted by Greenwrath tend to draw nature's wrath upon themselves and are considered a danger to others. Before anyone is welcome in Gridania they must undergo a ritual that will appease the forces of nature and purge them of Greenwrath. Lately there has been a rise in the amount of people entering Gridania that are afflicted by it and concerns are rising.
Anyone else read the OP and think "that's what she said."
Woodsin and the Greenwrath still get a mention or two in the early MSQ at Quarrymill and in the WHM questline. However, since the Calamity greatly weakened the elementals the ever-present and over-bearing threat of Greenwrath isn't as prevalent it was in 1.0.
Also, the two terms aren't truly interchangeable. "Woodsin" is described as that karma as you say. Kill an antelope, you accumulate woodsin. Enter the Twelveswood, you start accumulating woodsin. Woodsin will continue accumulating until it is cleansed or it drives the Wood to attack you. "Greenwrath" on the other hand is when an elemental actually reveals itself (violently) to take care of a problem in the Wood, whether its too much woodsin, a part of the Hedge falls, someone burns down a tree, etc. Hope that helps!
As for the original topic, I'm pretty sure that if Viera were ever implemented they'd be from elsewhere. Eorzea playing home to the "Five Races" for a while now makes it hard to believe another race has been living isolated in the Shroud before the Gelmorrans. The Black Shroud wasn't nearly as big prior to the 6th Umbral Era when the elementals grew it up to obscure Amdapor. So those survivors would've probably known about them? There's plenty of other remote forests in the world though. Garlemald was at one time described as being in a deep forest, though I also highly doubt they'd be from there. Meracydia, the southern continent, has a jungle region. There's Mamook, the New World, which is largely unexplored. Even Old Sharlayan's Isle of Val was once covered in thick Caelumtree forests before it disappeared. If they did live in Eorzea in complete mystery and isolation, I'd say the best bet would be the Orn Wild, which is apparently largely impassable according to its Sightseeing text.
