NieR: Automata Crossover Event

Who else would love this event? It's a game published by SE and the glams would be really awesome. =D

Would you mind showing me where please? I don't know if I'm missing something but I did a search on the forums and all I can see is threads/comments in other languages or not actually for a show of voices for this, or the Dualshockers interview where Yoshi-P talked a little about the possibility of it but not much else in relation to this event. I think we definitely need to show a thread dedicated to showing how many people want this. Whenever it is we'll get it! XD

Well when you think about it, how exactly could a NieR:Automata crossover work (the planet is Earth and mostly void of magic)? Drakengard would have a higher chance of a cross-over, especially if you tie it into one of the games extremely wtf endings.

If it's just clothing, then it's possible. Anything else is pushing/breaking the lore for both games.

If the release of a play of Romancing SaGa 3 doesn't warrant a cross over event then I highly doubt Nier would warrant one. I really would love some SaGa glamour :(.

Could be easy enough just say they came from a diff world blame the allagan for super hi tech stuff have a fate in southern thanalan with a certain centipede like boss have A2 help. have one in any gridania place with a swarm of forest enemies have 9S help there. have a goliath on the coast of moraby dry docks or costa del sol with 2B helping have pod provide banter and proposals the whole time. have a certain driving humming shopkeeper to sell the items. (bonus points if they make any of the music available) easy ff14 quality event

Yup, exactly! Agreed. The pods would make great minions. The swords would be awesome for samurais. The outfits would be fantastic glamours. And NieR orchestrion music? Yessss please.

Quite easily. Yokai are magic demon things set in a world where rules are lax (and since only the Yokai appeared in XIV, it kinda worked. I still didn't do it, though. Atma was enough), whereas NieR is set on the planet Earth, where magic never existed until Drakengard's Ending E came along and ruined the future of mankind.

While that ending did introduce magic to Earth, I think only a chosen few could use it (those with the Grimoire after they were created, Black Scrawl infection, the Shades and those who were created to be weapons). By Automata, magic is pretty much nonexistent again.

So again: If it's just clothing, then it's possible. Anything else is pushing/breaking the lore for both games.

Any android (especially main characters) from Automata cannot appear in FFXIV, as that is breaking the lore of Automata.

Well in theory it's posable becks noctis's sword the engine blade is in neir so there is already a cross over type deal in neir so why not cross it over in to ff14

If it's clothing and weapons, that's fine (we got boomerang books and gun-knuckles from the FFXIII event). Anything more is disregarding lore of both games.

Dressing up as 2B with FFXIV's Lightning tier flat butts would be a disservice to the character. :c

My guess is that DS misspelled XIV in their question. Considering this interview was about XIV after all.

@Evergrey: Nope, this is in regards to a XV x XIV event which is in progress, so we'll be seeing that soon. =D

@Nestama: When it comes to it disregarding the lore of both games, who really cares about that is what I think. The entire point of a crossover event is to disregard the barriers between the two things and to bring them into each other - in which case in XIV 2B would be likely an Allagan android. It's called "artistic liberty", and I'd prefer that method. =P

We had a Dragonquest event before too. Does that at all make sense if you take lore into account? Edit: For example, the entire KH franchise is a crossover between FF and Disney. Should we say KH shouldn't exist because "it's disregarding the lore of FF"? Imagine if that was said by someone at SE, we wouldn't have KH. =/

Yoshi-P kinda cares. If I'm remembering correctly, he wants the lore to make sense for both games (hence why I've been mentioning magic at all). Characters like Red XIII will never appear in FFXIV because they're endangered. Characters like Kefka or Zack won't appear in FFXIV because they're dead. Characters with a conclusion to their story will not appear, either.

As for the Dragon Quest event, that was entirely a 'Ze Puff Puff' homage (every character involved was a XIV race) and the golems aren't really out of place. They're just 'tidier, non-catface' magic rocks. You're grasping for straws by using KH as an argument (as the FF characters used in that game are not directly from the game they originally came from... unless Yuna, Rikku and Paine were pixies in FFX-2 the entire time and I never noticed).

Yokai did not fit FFXIV at all lol. I'd argue neither of the cross over events really made sense in a serious way, they're just kinda there, but if you were to take them serious in any way, you'd find that the excuses/stories aren't well written enough to actually fit in the world.

I don't care about NieR Automata at all, but a NieR Automata event is not any more or less logical or cohesive than the FFXI, Dragon Quest, or Yokai Watch events.

The FFXI, XIII and Dragon Quest events did make sense, though. Shantotto is capable of traversing through the void at will (A Shantotto Ascension), Iroha was sent to Eorzea (though at which point in the Rhapsodies storyline is unclear), Lightning 'trained' in Eorzea as she was in crystal-stasis (Eorzea was a dream of sorts or some nonsense. She can never return to Eorzea, though, as she now lives in a world without magic) and the Dragon Quest event, as said above, involved mostly XIV characters.

Me and my partner are also of the opinion that NieR makes just as much sense as the other crossovers, do not forget the Garo one too. All you need to do is make it fit into XIV and it's done. You don't need to disregard the lore of XIV, just the lore of Automata, and that's fine for a crossover event that's not occurring in Automata's universe. /shrug

Doubt it will happen but they could easily have it make sense.


Emil is like the ultimate magic user in the nier universe (sort of like shantotto is from XI) he could easily show up through some dimensional rift or something. In nier automata he also serves as a merchant of special wares. So just have him pop in with some dilemma, (alien machine chased him through the dimensional rift and now they are causing havoc in eorzea, but emil has an idea. Help him gather parts to repair some broken yorha units by doing fates to kill the machine life forms. With the parts gathered emil pulls out pod 042 and pod 153 from his knapsack, and they conduct the repairs on the yorha units. Ta-dah, 2B, 9S, and A2 have arrived in eorzea. Now work with them to stop goliath class machine life forms that are headed straight for each of the three main cities! Emerge victorious and claim your outfit, weapons and hairstyles. Emil apologizes for causing so much trouble and teleports away forever, and you're left wondering if this was all just a dream :p)

As you said about KH, "as the FF characters used in that game are not directly from the game they originally came from... unless Yuna, Rikku and Paine were pixies in FFX-2 the entire time and I never noticed" - you would be doing the exact same to NieR's characters for an event like this. Is it not okay as long as they're "not directly from the game they originally came from"? Or is there a double standard, because that's exactly how it would work.

Your idea implies that they were always on Eorzea and therefore removes any reason for making it a cross-over event. That won't work.

It works for Xande/Crystal Tower as that isn't a cross-over event, but something that was written into FFXIV's world with its own lore (Allagan Emperor). Same applies to the Warring Triad.

FFXI and FFXIII's cross-over events brought characters from other games into Eorzea (same personality and such), one of which is freely capable of void travel. DQ made a homage, Yokai Watch brought Yokai minions and Garo, as far as I know, is mostly just armour and mounts.

I'd rather have something new to play with possible a new emote over clothing since XIV characters don't have 2Bs beautiful butt or dem hips. Ducking out of the thread immediately because I have yet to play and want to go in blind. I wouldn't mind a crossover as long as it has 0 to do with the plot and more of a situation. Kind of like Raiden in MGSV: Ground Zeroes. Cyborg ninja from the future slicing watermelons. Nothing about MGS2/4, and even less about Revengance.

What you are asking is for the XIV team to disregard NieR:Automata's plot and lore just to shoehorn characters into FFXIV's world, where their goals wouldn't really work (no threat of extinction or alien machines).

Drakengard has a much higher chance of being a crossover (though still unlikely, as Yoko Taro would have to write some other ending to the game in some novel or something to make sense of it all).

People just want the items to wear or use, so slap in some rando shady merchant to give you a quest that takes you to some rando Allagan node that burps out items for gil; chalk it up to the Allagan Empire researching an interdimensional anomaly with only a small rift in the fabric of reality to stick their thermometers in - they only thing they got from it were random items similar to those of Allag yet entirely incomprehensible - so they replicated them, though they lost their original function... whatever that was... they did get to be used for a small time.

Yours sincerely - a person quite into Drakenierverse, as well as XIV's lore, who can discern when something is possible to be added for fun and something that can be easily written in.

If you want a collab to give me items to use...make sure the items are worth using and not simply for aesthetic appeal. Thanks.

If it's just clothing and weapons, that can work. Dropping NieR characters into FFXIV cannot happen, however (this is what I've been arguing).

As much as I love Nier Automata, I don't really want a crossover with it and FFXIV. The Nier/FFXV crossover stuff was fine--XV got some car music and Nier got the Engine Blade, which is technologically advanced enough to make sense in Nier's world (and damn if its weapon story didn't expand Noct and his dad's relationship better than in its own game). With XIV it would be pretty hard to work it in, even if it was dimensional travel or "the Allagans did it." Plus, the tones of both games are too different to really mesh well, in my opinion.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, for threads like this, THIS CANNOT CONTINUE!

Because it wouldn't make sense. Play NieR, look up the timeline of that game and you'll understand why (but allow me to give you an example: If any of the main characters in NieR appear in FFXIV, then it would need to be explained in the game they're from how they wound up in a completely different world where there is no threat of black scrawls, shades, machines, certain extinction, etc. It needs to make sense for both games. Not just one. Shantotto even vaguely mentions she entered a different world, implied to be Eorzea, in FFXI).
If people were asking for a Drakengard collab, then we'd be having a completely different discussion.

I just want an outfit or two just for fun. Make it like Garo just there to be obtained, couldn't care less about a character showing up, can't just have every jack and jill pop out of nowhere.
