4.0 plans for crafting and market?

Hi all,

I was just curious on if there was any information out there specifically referring to crafting and market improvements for Stormblood. Unless missed something substantial, I haven't really seen any.

I'm hoping we get some improvements to the Crafting Log, Marker Board and Retainer interface. Of course, I'm always hoping we get improvements to those sets of menus. Don't need a special expansion to improve those. :p

Anyways, if there is information out there, let me know. Otherwise, what crafting or market related areas are you hoping to be improved for 4.0?

It would be great if they added an option to set request offers for items - I saw it mentioned somewhere elsewhere, but basically a market that has both "sell offers" and "buy offers". Right now we only have sell offers - people put their items up for sale and list the price they want. If they added an option for retainers to request items at a certain price, that would be fantastic!

Don't mind waiting and potentially buying something for cheaper? Put up a buy offer for that glamour you want for what you're willing to pay, and some impatient to sell person will fill it!
Need to sell something quickly? Boom - sold in an instant to the person who wanted it!

Being able to buy portions of a stack of an item from someone would be great too. People could list 99 of an item like they do now (ie. raid food), and as a consumer you could just choose the quantity you wanted to buy from the stack. Would be a great addition in my opinion

totally disagree! sounds like a horrible idea.
this will just makes mastercrafters just undercut more and more, sounds like a garage sale system.
this just means hardwork for less gils, if the customer can creat his own price.

anyway i read they want to extent inventory/armory space.
for my self i really would love to see that they change the stack limit from 99 to 999 this would be a huge help with the inventory space.

It would be fantastic for consumers, but sellers would protest hard - You'd be unable to just create a monopoly by buying up everything and re-selling it for example. People might no longer be willing to buy ridiculously overpriced goods if they can get served for less by someone who wants to get rid of the items quick, cutting into profit margins. Buying extra retainers for more market presence would be less of an advantage. Goodness, it would reveal a demand curve for goods and make markets more transparent!

The vision is downright apocalyptic. It's barely one step away from communism and enslaving crafters to work for crumbs somewhere in a dirty, lightless mine.

A "buyer mode" for retainers, to be used instead of a seller mode (you have two retainers, put one in buyer and the other in seller, if you want! Lol) would be awesome.

I've wished for such a thing in the past ...

I want them to make end game crafting more game friendly. Right now, if you were to go out and acquire all the materials needed for a craft without the use of the market board (which is more like highway robbery these days anyway) you would need a ridiculous amount of time for just one craft. Last time I tried this, it took me one hour for one craft and the items in question weren't that rare nor heavily restricted through timed nodes either.

Aside from that, buying from Market through retainers and crafting from retainers are pretty good ideas.

crafting were never more friendly and easier like now :rolleyes:
so to make it more easier it would mean delete all crafting skills and put one button which say crafting.
requested items are ridiculous easy to gathering or just bought from lore. please check some guides :p

Especially that latter-- my wife and I have three crafting characters each (we each have two 4-star omnicrafters--for the specializations-- and our third characters aren't there yet), and the FC chest is how we share materia, mats, and craftings between our characters. It's stuffed, even with us limiting each unique item to 99.

If it happened it would likely be limited to certain items that would benefit from it. Having 999 ceder logs is more useful than having 999 grade 5 materia

I'd say increasing stack size would be a smarter method of inventory management.

Why is it smarter? If you have 200 different stacks of mats to store and only 150 slots to store them in, increasing the number of items that each slot can store doesn't help.

And then there's the issue of what fraction of players would actually benefit. 999-item stacks probably only benefit a minority of very active crafters. But everyone I know has had to work around the limitations on how many unique items (e.g. glamour gear) can be stored in their inventories.

If you're talking software effort, don't trivialize the effort it takes to display 3 legible digits in all the spaces that currently only display two. Making each row of the company chest 10 slots, instead of 5, is simpler. Or better yet, make each page of the company chest identical to an inventory page (100 slots in four 5x5 blocks, or whatever it becomes in the expansion) for a total of 300 items instead of the current 150. That reuses all the existing code and graphics forplayer and retainer inventory.

You're welcome to your opinion of what's "smarter," but is there any logic to it?
But odds are whatever they are going to do is already decided.

I would love the 999 thing. Its sad that I would still have stacks of items >.> <.<

I really hope they get away from this idea of needing older content gathered items in bulk for current content items with SB. It was horrible in HW. You already needed insane amounts of materials from the current zones, but then you had to go back to ARR and farm more materials there. For special recipes, fine, but not the basics.

I dont mind if I had to go back to the old places. I enjoy it I met alot of nice new people who I wouldnt if I didnt go back to old places. Also I make alot of gil doing things other dont want to do because they think its old. Keep it up SE ;)

This would not happen at all like you are saying. Right now it is sellers themselves that always undercut the buyer has nothing to do with this behaviour. Whenever I list my items for sale I list at the same price as another seller usually in another market. I check later and that seller changed their price to undercut me. In addition sellers constantly undercut this way even when there is a steady purchasing of said goods so the sellers will undercut to get "more sales" when there is a consistent sale at the higher price anyway. I have a feeling it is people like you that cause markets to crash and not function in a normal manner.

Also allow gear to stack clothes can be folded and stacked up :P I understand collectables not stacking, as each one could have a different value.

I wouldn't mind a system where interested buyers could list offers for prices that they'd be willing to pay. I'd much rather fill an "order" for an immediate sale, than have to wait days or weeks for a sale. A price that a potential buyer would be willing to pay still needs to be a price that I'd be willing to sell for. Besides immediate sales would help to keep commerce flowing. The market is so very stagnant now.

I'd like an HQ quick synth option, at least for older recipes if not newer ones. The amount of time it takes to make an HQ platinum ingot or diamond even when geared for HW 4-star crafts is still pretty excessive. Index the success rate to control stat and let us save a little time on the simple stuff...

I think that would make things too easy given the extremely low difficulty of current crafts. Crafts have been balanced in such a way that anyone can HQ everything with ease. Differences in player technique only determine how fast one can produce an HQ final product.

The tools are already available for a crafter to reliably craft anything from all NQ mats. In your example, if they gave out free HQ diamonds or gold ingots, that would turn a crafter who can craft say i250 accessories from all NQ at an 80% yield to one that can craft from all NQ at close to a 100% yield.

There has to be an incentive or reward for a crafter who develops better techniques. If there aren’t any difficult crafts released, at least there is the speed incentive. Currently, the difference between being able to HQ a 4* from all NQ at a 95% yield and at an 80% yield is only ~1500-2000 quality. Simple rotations are decent at getting that 80% yield but it’s the crafter who moves beyond rotations who can get the higher yields by increasing their average quality/synth by 1500-2000. Easy HQ handouts would eliminate that.

HQ quick-synths would be more justifiable if they were to increase the difficulty (ie. low odds of HQing something from all NQ) or only include quick-synthed materials in the recipes of crafted materials.

I personally always encourage crafters to work on developing methods of crafting from all NQ as it’ll speed up master crafts considerably. The techniques are simple but surprisingly not well documented.
