What should I save in preparation to RDM and SAM

What do you guys think I should be saving in regards to gear, jewelry and weps just to somewhat properly gear up/outfit these two when they first come out. I read that RMD will be sharing Monk so should I save any striking items I find/have? And what about SAM?

You got it wrong, SAM is sharing with MNK, and I believe RDM is sharing with SMN/BLM. If you want to save MNK and caster HW levelling gear that would allow you to gear them as you hit the levels, and then if SB is anything like HW, the 60-70 MSQ/sidequests will give you plenty of opportunities to obtain levelling gear for your first job, though if you are very dedicated, i270 MNK/caster gear would likely last until 68, if not 70

Samurai is sharing with monk i believe not red mage. Pretty sure red mage won't need strength.

I'm saving all of my int and monk 50-60 gear, as well as using extra poetics and whatever other stuff I accumulate to make sure I have a full 130 set for each at 50. It's probably not necessary, since I'll likely just go through PotD, but it doesn't hurt. I also have some tokens and tomestones to buy 120 weapons once they're available.

Cap Poetics, cap Scripture, set aside any dungeon pieces you'll want for glamour or any dungeon gear 55+ (so, from the Aery onward as that was the point dungeon gear>Poetics). Clear a save slot in PotD. Save up your GC seals, and for good measure, stock up your hunt seals too. If you own an FC, ready up some rainy day XP buffs. Make/buy leveling food and set that aside.

Last but not least: Network. Find some friends/players on your server who you might want to form a stable leveling party with. Find a dedicated tank/healer, if you're going RDM, find someone who's gonna level SAM, or vice versa. If you have a tank/healer you might want to level as well, work out a rotation where you all swap roles. It'll be more fun to level together in a group you know and can count on.

Red mage uses caster gear, Samurai uses Monk gear. You can prepare this sets, except weapon because are not in the game yet. Still you can get tokens and that for the weapon when it is released. Food, EXP buff from Squadron Missions.

If you would like to prepare, here's what you should/could obtain. Please keep in mind that nobody knows 100% if this is the way to go, there could be things added we're not aware off, however I base my answer on the last expansion.

Get a striking set lvl 50 (ilvl 120 in Mor Dhona) update that to ilvl 130 since you don't need your poetics anyways at the moment, unless you're still grinding for relic.
Get a casting set lvl 50 and update it to ilvl 130 (that's for RDM since they share with casters)
Get enough tokens, that you can turn in after the release of storm blood for the weapons plus upgrade materials

If you're running leveling dungeons (HW) currently save all the casting and striking gear from lvl 55-59, prior to that you won't have to worry or bother since the ilvl 130 is just fine till then. Same if you grinded old coil and still have the armor from that.

Save any tokens you might get from the HW older and current primals, because when you reach level 60 you might need these weapons unless you plan on doing PoTD/Crafted
Save any books/pages you're getting, if you're doing savage raiding currently, if not just ignore this. Same here, unless your team mates let you roll on some striking/casting gear during raid, you will need these to exchange for gear later on.

Get a Lore MNK & Casting set till the expansion, and upgrade materials. (if you're not raiding, otherwise ignore that)

Cap your tome stones around a 2 or 3 weeks prior to the expansion, while it's most likely not something you might need, it's better to have them instead of feeling sorry later on. There's other things you could be doing, but that's the basics right now if you're just planning on getting/saving gear for SAM (striking aka mnk gear) or/and RDM (casting aka blm/smn gear)

Level 60-70 I am assuming that it's just the same as HW was, you'll be getting gear thrown left and right at you from the MSQ/Side Quests, new dungeons or at least can wear the lore armor till lvl 65.

RDM - lv 50 / ilv 130 and lv 60 / ilv 170 caster gear
SMR - lv 50 / ilv 130 and lv 60 / ilv 170 MNK gear

This should be good enough to level up from lv 50 to lv 70

Personally I'm not saving anything. When they come out I'll just craft a HQ set of level 50 gear which will be incredibly easy as a level 60+ crafter (which is what you should be levelling to with mog beast tribe instead of gathering gear). Then simply gear up through levelling via dungeons.

I tried to save all my levelling gear in HW for the new jobs, know what happened? I completely forgot about it. It was so easy to gear up through levelling dungeons that I never took any levelling gear off my retainer other than the brayflox sets I started with. If I started to fall behind in any particular slot, a vendor piece would usually cover it until I got a dungeon piece.

And if you're really vehemently against crafting, mnk and blm ironworks set will do.

around 56 gear starts feeling low so I would guess 56 gear and 66 gear.

Nice question. ^_^ I just saved all my ironworks gear for each class to be prepared for anything pretty much.

• Save 130 Casting set to an ACN/THM (base class, for quick identification) gearset so I don't autopilot Expert Delivery at Grand Company and have to buy them all again.
• Acquire full 130 set (Augmented Ironworks / Dreadwyrm) set of Striking gear (accessories are of Slaying).
• Save 130 Striking set to PGL (base class!) gearset.
• Acquire 2× Encrypted Tomestones.
• Acquire 20× Rowena's Token (Poetics)
• Acquire 2× Carbontwine
• Acquire full 270 set (Augmented Shire / Alexandrian / Proto Ultima) set of Casting gear.
• Save 270 Casting set to another ACN/THM (base class!) gearset.
• Acquire full 270 set (Augmented Shire / Alexandrian / Proto Ultima) set of Striking gear (accessories are of Slaying).
• Save 130 Striking set to another PGL (base class!) gearset.
• Acquire 2× Micro Tomestones.
• Acquire 20× Rowena's Token (Scripture)
• Acquire 2× Illuminati Deepest Gobdip

Halve the item quantities if you're prepping for just one of the jobs. The 130 gear will be fine from 50 to 59, and being in full 270 gear will make catching back up on 61+ content quicker.

I'm in the process of creating full 130 sets + 130 weapon tokens and 270 sets. Those are probably enough. Also let leve allowances build up to 100 and accumulate enough rested experience before launch.

If you want a nice glamour weapon for both jobs you can save +90/+90 Aetherpool and buy Padjali weapons. By leveling in PotD you'll have enough Aetherpool to upgrade the weapons by the time you reach level 60, in the case you prefer Kinna weapons.

If you are planning to get more Anima weapons at some point, you can hit two birds with one stone by farming fates with the new jobs. Just pick up the quest and you'll get Luminous Crystals.

i do everyday some exercise with my short lalafell legs so i can run faster to npc to buy some rubbish gear to reach the min. ilvl for dungeons and just replace it with dungeon gear by time.

You need Carbontwine and Carboncoat. You can run the Crystal Tower weekly, Final Coil of Bahamut turn 2 and 3 for the upgrade item, or use Poetics to buy them (Best choice now). You need get Carboncoat for accessories and belt (shield in case of Paladin too) and Carbontwine for body, head, legs, hands, feet and weapon. Once you have it, get the gear and the upgrade item to the guy in Hyrstmill, the one near Gerolt. Talk to him to upgrade the gear.

I'm sick of POTD leveling. I feel like the only one that would like to go back to running dungeons.

ARR belts still count as armor. Use Carbontwine.

Belts from Heavensward (beginning with Law gear) are accessories.

If you raid be sure to have enough A12S tokens for 2 jobs as they'll probably be adding SAM/RDM weapons. Aside from these, plenty of good advice in this thread
