I'm placing my blog post here in the forums on Lalafel's request. I'm not sure if it's already been posted or not but.. that smile was hard to refuse.
So I was running around Eorzea and I noticed how a lot of NPCs get to sport dialogue bubbles over their heads and yet we are just bound to the dialogue window to the lower left which averts our eyes from the center of the screen where the "stage" should be whenever we wish to have a roleplaying scene.
I have this wish that we too should have dialogue bubbles almost akin to the ones we have within cutscenes displayed on the lower screen. But small and over our heads. But I also wish this could only be made possible when we change our status to roleplaying.
Sure, I might be living up to my Doman birth name.. but it's nice to have foolish wishes once in awhile.

WoW had dialog bubbles for /say, they're pretty fun for short blips of time. I don't think it has to be roleplay only, but it'll be funny to see server chat for a while after they add a feature like that. So they must add a toggle at the same time, doesn't matter if its for RP only feature or not - there needs to be an off option lol.

In my experience dialogue bubbles have always have a knack for polluting the screen, one, two or three you probably won't notice it, but when you see 30 overlapping over one another while trying to read the one that is under all of that have always been a cause of irritation for me, also bubbles would be more sprites that a computer would need to relocate resources too, I mean yeah some might have a kick ass computer that could deal with it, but not all.

Maybe if they just enable them in certain areas? Like how you're only allowed to do triple triad in certain parts of towns and junk.

Which was why I also wished it was for Roleplay status only. Meaning only people flagged for RP can see dialogue of people also flagged for RP. And you can toggle it on or off at your own discretion. There should be any problem with it.. unless some would choose to want a problem with is. Which I could interpret these replies as.

Only if there is a way for the rest of us to disable them so we don't see them. No offense but I don't want to see a ton of bubbles when people are having a conversation. Or just spamming nonsense to be trolls.

An issue being though that as it it would be a new feature for a little while everyone would be using it, so that would lead to A LOT of people toggling it off. Then you'd have to slowly get people putting it back on as people became less interested in it.Quote:

Speech bubbles on those games were quite an irritant, and they caused so much lag especially if you tried to walk through an entire garden of them going though a town, but like I said that was my experience.Quote:

Good idea, of course the Dev Team must give us a lot of options in regards of chat bubbles!...
For example only show player's bubbles and anyone in his/her party, to avoid seeing other's as that would make it really hard to see what was happening on screen!...
There could be different bubble colors for each chat mode, /say, /shout, /yell, etc., all thanks to the power of options!... :)
Ohhh, give us a Role Play status command as well, going through the menus to set it is pretty annoying!... -

The last time we asked this they sang the XIV anthem of "ps3 limitations"
So maybe, if we're persistent, in stormblood they will say "ps4 limitations"
Also this is one of my biggest wants for the game. It sucks having to look at the corner of your screen when you're talking to someone instead of their character, really makes all the emotes worthless except for screenshots, idling, or simply when no one is actually talking. -
