Personal Space

If someone is occupying the same space as your character, what do you do?
Do you not notice this kind of thing?
Do you move?
Do you KO them?
Do you dance?
Do you /songbird?
Do you know what's happening?
Do you know what I edited in this?

I usually stop pretending this game is real life and act like a normal human being.

So no dancing on people playing dead?

A lot of times I randomly target people and move my character face to face really close to em just to see how they react.

Get some funny responses, people usually run away before we are nose to nose though.

It's not a big deal at all. It's a game, there's no such thing as personal space here.

I like looking at my character so I usually move. :D

I just had a guy repeatedly follow my character and sit or stand where ever I was. It was annoying.

Well this isn't a PVP game so no, you would not KO them.

But if you're so concerned with people being around you, why not play a single player game?

The clipping would bother me more than the personal space, so maybe I'd move away for that reason. I do love merging with afk FC members though, getting some real eldrict abominations going. When I'm crafting or going over my gear I usually move away from crowds cause the noises and bustle distract me. I like some peace and quiet.

lol when I hear "personal space " I'm instantly thinking of all my finnish friends I made in the game(I <3 them).

No but honestly due to the fact that your characters heads and eyes move depending on where you're looking it can be quite annoying if there's someone coming closer than you'd like. Especially if it's a person you don't like. I have a few um...admirers so to say cos they like my character's appearance a tad bit too much and some of them do really cross the line by being too close, staring at me and emote-spamming me. But overall, still no biggie as it's just a game

So?

Change zones then. Or ask him to stop if he follows you for a prolonged period. If he doesn't stop and follows you through zones, you report him for harassment and stalking. But just following you around for a few minutes isn't a big deal.

But it's a game. Personal space isn't a thing.

I just move. I rarely have problems.

I target a random lala, then I ready for battle emote, run strait at them, and drop a CoS, doton, salted earth, ect. on top of them. Most of the time nothing happens.

What I find more fun is searching for new leafs and stone skinning them, or giving them a regen while they do a battle leve. I get more positive feedback when I do thaat, lol.

I blame the lalas bad attitudes.

I don't really mind if someone's in what would be considered "real-world personal space distance," but I don't like if they're clipping into me (it violates not only my aesthetic, but the Pauli Exclusion Principle!) and I'll generally move if that's the case. Unless I'm like, looking at the market board or interacting with my retainer or things of that nature. I'm not gonna close those menus just to move. Honestly, though, I feel like I'm rarely standing around in one place when I'm not AFK/sort of AFK/doing assignments with the game open/etc., so it's not often an issue for me.

I would probably /Hildy then /playdead a second later.

It makes me feel awkward and I quickly dash a couple of yalms to get out of their space. Exception: Lalafell friend who likes to sit underneath me. We don't actually occupy the same space so it's fine (well, it's annoying in a different way but I don't feel pressured to move).

I /smile and /hug them.They tend to run away from me though when I do that :(

It honestly doesn't bother me that much, as somebody else said the clipping can be a bit annoying so I might move for that reason, or just so I can have a clearer view of the battlefield.

Ran Dusk Vigil the once though and every time I went behind the same rock as the healer she'd move away from me to another rock, I felt sad q_q

One day, there was someone getting really close to me. Like really close and still getting closer. And then, when we were supposed to touch (I was very uncomfortable), he just MOVED THROUGH ME!! I mean WHAT?! It was as if I had no material form whatsoever. I totally freaked out. AM I A GHOST?! I ran to other players in fear but they didn't seem to notice me, either. I tried to poke someone and my arm went through the person I wanted to poke.

I don't exist.

What is reality, even?

Target them and move up to their face and zoom in (I have that mapped to alt+pgdown). If they target you and hold eye contact for 5 seconds it is the sign they want to start with some light erping.

Use modified emotes such as

/facepalm motion
/em nibbles <t>.

/handover motion
/em touches <t> gently.

Of course, hug them and embrace them. Even kidnap them and see if they go along. /smirk confidently if they look at you in shock. If they're into horseplay, let them start it - if so, do more puerile things like slapping. If they're a hopeless sap, you might find yourself turning around and going through the trouble of typing their full name to execute

It really depends on the person. And yes I know what's happening; I heal! Gotta pay attention to the field and everything on it.

I kinda don't care bc it's just characters on a screen. I usually move though, but it doesn't bother me.

Edit: Sometimes when I afk I'll find another afk person and stand so that we're holding hands. I'm easily amused.

If they're a lalafell: /hug
If they're second rate Eorzeans: blacklist, report, complain about them on the forums, find their lodestone and report that too.

If we're not crowded around an NPC or something then anyone being that close is generally a bit odd and aesthetically displeasing so I'd move.

I'll stand face to face with someone close to my height so it looks like we're kissing. Snap a screenshot, bounce.

If I'm not AFK, I usually run around randomly, so I never encountered the issue myself.

I'd probably just move a bit.

If it is just me talking a npc, and someone logged on in the same spot I am, I don't move. A lot of people stop right within my character, I don't move (we have to remember that ping can make you see different in each screen. May be they see her/his character next to me).

I see some people reply that others do to me. I don't move. I was there in the beginning, they left the spot when they logged out. I take just SS and share the funny incident with my FC and friends so they will know the people name and , you know, rumors or assumptions begin cuz of the impression my guildmates and friend see the other people doing to my pixel =P.

Now if someone is following for hrs and/or days, I report them. They are stalking you. That is nothing to do with just your pixel, but they are now really interrupting and invading youe personal space (your play style, communication with friends, interaction with npv and guildmates, friends)

I try to form Eorzean Voltron with them.

Unfortunately like the cool Voltron, the lion one, Eorzean Voltron is not a giant space robot but a horrible mutant monstrosity with multiple limbs, heads and other body parts haphazardly jammed together in an amalgamated mess.

I put a curse on the person so he/she will be a Miqo te in his/her next life and suffer the harassment of people trying to pull their furry tails.
