Are u kidding me? You literally kidding me. 60 second lasting dun scaith mini trash boss?
So can I take your complaints to mean you have figured out how to unlock the fight?
Thanks, do you know if the accessories are on a weekly lockout?
Doesn't surprise me at all. The game has been getting easier and easier for a long time. Because accessibility is there number 1 priority.
Rather than make content that raises the bottom line of the skill level and promotes player improvemennt. All they do is lower the top level bringing it closer and closer to players.
Which is why everything even expert dungeons have been getting easier and easier for a long time
..Okay? Just because someone wants to "raise the bottom line" doesnt mean its possible. Most people are just as good as they are gonna be, and you can't imbue another person with the drive to be better, you either have that or you don't, badgering people into quitting with overly grindy (relic chain) or meaningless overtuned (savage) content doesn't improve the health of a community, it just galvanizes the player base into people who quit because they hit a wall, and people who spend all day believing they are being held back.
If you believe you are too good for the average difficulty of content, you beat the curve, be happy with that, its easier than blaming a bunch of strangers that you think just havn't been sufficiently abused into getting good.
Dungeon be more and more easy ? i remember ampdaport was easy like the new ones.
I think all this dungeon is too easy, but i think you need easy thing for new comers, the question is : it's even too easy for new comers ?
Now for the savage raid, the problem is : to reach all the players, a normal Mode, extreme mode and savage mode should be the way to go.
Mid Core FC don't have enough times for Savage like A1 to A8.
Please remember what Yoshi said about hard content. It's coming and it sounds like hell is coming with it so don't complain when its too hard.
you have easy things for new comers. leterally everything in the game... but you also need to realise that by the time a player gets to alex or extreme primals they're a long way past being a new comer....
expert dungeons should be at least mildly challenging and every new dungeon should be slightly tougher than the last....
what about new comenrs they need easy content. they'd have it. sastasha copperbell halitali totorak. the curve would increase gradually as they progressed. every dungeon they unlocked would be another step up that mountain. so when it came round to extreme primals and stuff like that players would already be half way up the mountain...
the way the game is now everything is getting easier and easier. and players are still at the base of the mountain and haven't even begun to climb it yet... in another thread I said this is why the no bonus culture exists. because players still at the base of the mountain think they are near the top... and they clearly aren't... because they've not even started to climb..
where if content actually got harder the further players progressed. by the time a player unlocked an extreme / savage raid, they'd be at least half way up the proverbial mountain of clearing it. instead of just standing at the base...
I also thinki this is why the playerbase seems to be shrinking cos everything is so easy its boring and not all satisfying or rewarding.....
To be honest difficulty is only part of the equation it needs to be rewarding as well. Where as now people just skip primal's and raidsee because the rewards are just junk soon as the next patch hits anyway. Which is why the raiding population is so low and again is why most people don't bother melding or investing in there gear cos it'll just be tossed next patch so why bother.
But going well off topic here so yeah just gonna wait and see if 4.0 does change things

This is not an acceptable fight to be put in the game. HP values needs to be increased for the mob at minimum. Even with a premade group you should not be killing a boss fight in 1min that is from the current level cap.
That was fast, I do like the idea of quests being out there that change somewhat the run, but was hoping there would be a bit more to it. Won't stop me from getting my ilv270 stuff, but still. I was thinking it would be his moves from the original sans the primals and instead put in some of the HW ones for fun..like the Triad and he would have some survival skills lol.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!
I was at Fan Fest, and found the fight easy but at least cool-looking in the trial event.
Even if they made Proto Ultima actually challenging, the presentation is all off, the lore doesn't work, they really just dumped it into Dun Scaith, and very, very forcibly at that.
The instance at Fan Fest at least had Proto Ultima staged in an arena that looked like the Azys Lla area, which is where there had been sightings of it flying around. They could have at least created an "illusion" type lore and make the environment change, but as of now, he doesn't fit into Dun Scaith and is really out of place.
On top of all that he isn't challenging at all which makes this whole 'fight' even less appealing.
I think the development team can do MUCH better than this. If they were feeling lazy then just use the exact same trial from Fan Fest. At least people who couldn't make it to Fan Fest could experience the trial as it was.
Part of me is really hoping that this wasn't their original plan to put Proto Ultima in Dun Scaith and that the plan was actually to have it inside of the new Diadem as the "24 man instance" or whatever they were talking about... maybe when Diadem was delayed they didn't want to have both the Diadem AND Proto Ultima delayed by 2-3 weeks so they just threw it in to Dun Scaith for now? D: I know this is probably very unlikely but..... I am really hoping they either give us the fight that was at fan fest or have other plans for the fight like I said in Diadem or something else... because this is a joke. Everything to do with this patch has been a huge disappointment in my opinion. I was expecting Proto to be its own instance, not a trash mob that dies faster then any of the bosses in Dun Scaith.
My main issue is that they put in in Dun Scaith. I hate Dun Scaith... D;
It's not like Dun Scaith was dead content yet either, so I really don't see why they had to tack it on that way.
Having said that, I do have to agree with everyone's disappointment on who easy it was...
I was kind of expecting an actual Trial and not just a trash-mini-boss.
The story for why it is there is really flimsy too.
Did you hire writers to actually write that?
Personally, I would have preferred Proto-Ultima burning Dun Scaith to a cinder but yeah know... XD
It's still more fun than the succubus.
Why make difficult content when most of the people paying you money will never touch it?
As we closer to StormBlood, they're going to make it increasingly easier to gear up. Because we're in the "catch up" cycle. Everything after the raid patch is designed to help non raiders catch up to the raiders in gear levels. In a month, the gobdip will be available for the 3 void ark pennies and everybody will be able to get an i270 weapon effortlessly.
So it doesn't surprise me all that much. If Proto Ultima was a difficult fight, not many people would care to do it because there's already an easy way to get i270 accessories.
Even if most people doesn't touch the harder content, it still gives most people the feeling that there's more to the game. I never raided during vanila WoW for example, this didn't mean that I couldn't think that seeing people running around in their purples were kinda cool. It gave me something to aim towards, that maybe someday I would have the same stuff as well.
FFXIVs content doesn't at all give that feeling tho, since everything, except a few choice encounters, are VERY easy. And there's really nothing to make one aspire to do that content either, not even just hoping of doing it, since the rewards from them are really lackluster. Why even bother to try and become better, so that I might be able to tackle savage, when if I just wait a few weeks I'll be able to get better rewards with no effort at all?
SE should really reconsider their patches, and the way they structure their content. The only relevant content is only ever the latest patch ones, and all else is just there to farm tomes in, or in a few cases repeatedly do for the relic. Maybe if they tried to make content last for longer than one patch, they wouldn't have to keep coming up with different weird reasons to go back to the other stuff?
On topic: Yes, I was highly dissapointed in Proto. I didn't really have much expectations about him, but I at the very least expected him to be his own thing, and not just a trashmob in an already pretty stale 24-man dungeon.
I think this quote from reddit said it best about the negative reaction:
The attention Pultima got in fanfest and beyond didn't match the implementation, leaving people feeling deceived. On the eve of an expansion, do people want that feeling? Is that going to garner trust of future announcements regarding Stormblood?Quote:
My problem with this situation is not the difficulty of Proto Ultima. It's the fact that Proto Ultima was put in as a replacement for a trash mini boss in Dun Scaith. Proto Ultima has been in the game ever since Heavensward released. You can see it flying around just before the World Fate in Azys Lla pops. So for almost 2 years, there was a lot of interest going around Proto Ultima already. When they announced it for Fan Fest as a Trial Battle for attendees, we all knew right away that it would be available in the game for everyone. So the expectation for a new trial was already high among the community, and grew larger as we saw the battle streamed live from Fan Fest. There's also history as well, since Odin was a Fan Fest Trial at the previous Fan Fests, and it was released as a Trial, and met the expectations of the community at that time.
Unfortunately, the team decided to add Proto Ultima into the game as a Trash Monster to replace another Trash Monster. The community was expecting a 24 player Trial Fight, and unfortunately, they didn't get it. Instead, what we really got was an update to Dun Scaith, which was completely unnecessary. Maybe if Square Enix or Yoshida explained to the community how they were going to add him into the game, there wouldn't be as much hate as you see now. But they chose to keep quiet anyway, and the community was greatly let down because of it.
While I don't expect Square-Enix to change the fight into a Trial Fight, they do at the very least need to explain to the community the reason why they made the decision to implement Proto Ultima the way they did in this patch. At the very least, they do owe us an explanation, because as you can see, a large portion of the community is very upset...
Like you guys are really silly, I tell ya I will say there should have been zero hype behind this but Im not going to complain about free 270 accessories either, did we just not have this whole argument about skip soar and people whinning about that or did people already forget this. Are people still not able to clear A11s- A12s or did people forget about that, there shouldn't of been any hype but lets not act like all this game does is make super easy catering content for casuals only.
Hell it never fails almost every time I run dun scathe parties wipe on the queen nearly every time and Im just lost its usually when she has like 15 percent hp, how many complaints about people making farm parties that wipe or joining them. Like stop acting like your so great at the game that you have beat everything without a single hurdle that may be the case for some but I know it isnt for alot either. The fight was lame it was forgettable but If you have leveled 13 jobs just be thankful for another way to have 270 pieces and give it a rest geez.
...what does any of what you just said have to do with the subject on hand?
People aren't saying they wanted Proto-Ultima to be the new Savage-tier content, they're saying they wanted it to be its own content and not just a tacked on trash-boss that you can face roll through.
Heaven forbid we get more Midcore content.
Just adding my number to the pile of peeps that are disappointed. I could care less about what it drops or difficulty. It's just they put a lot of effort to replace content that didn't need replaced. They could keep the trash and add the loot list to that trash. The trash there was harder and pugs could still clear easily so it should have at least matched that. The reality is it doesn't offer any new content. I will still only queue for that dungeon once a week reguardless.
If it was its own instance, it'd offer something akin to what Odin did in 2.0. And peeps argue that it isn't played anymore. Well incentive is everything reguardless of difficulty, specially considering the whole i sync thing they added. Require a drop out of it to get your super pony and watch that dungeon magically make a come back. Just gotta be smart about it.
Yes the fight is a bit sad but now imagine it would be way harder and would still be in dun scaith...have fun with spending for ever to get your weekly token because the disbands will be real.
I posted this in a similar thread, but I might as well put it here too (added one more thing for this thread):
I'm impartial to it. I finally get to fight Proto-Ultima and rewards are cool. But the setting really doesn't fit much IMO.
As easy as the fight is in Dun Scaith, people wipe to Proto-Ultima for a few reasons:
1. Tanks fighting over aggro, getting others cleaved with Diffractive Laser
2. Really low dps
3. People not running away from the homing laser beams when they are targeted with an orange crosshair/prey. These beams also end up hitting others too at times when the prey targets run toward the alliance members.
Don't underestimate Proto-Ultima, especially if you are in a pug with varying skill levels.
