Giving multiple Commendations

Hello,
Will be ever be able to give more than one commendation during dungeons/raids?
Usually more than 1 person shines that I party with and I'd like the option to give to more than one, or as many as I think did a good job.
Maybe let us give to 1 in each role? 1 for tank/healer/dps, so 3 total?

I want to appreciate the DPS in the party aswell but a good healer or tank will always win commendation over a good DPS because it just seems like the decent thing to do.

and yes I'm one of those people that will feel bad for the rest of the day not being able to commendate somebody.

I agree should be possible commend more than one, specially on the 8 man parties. 1 commendation only for 8 guys is not enough.

Agreed. I've had parties where I wanted to give all three players commendations. Some groups are just absolutely amazing.

I agree, sometimes I do get teams amazing enough that I feel a single commendation is not enough :)

There can be only one MVP, while having multiple would actually be meaningless. Please don't bring the cup cake syndrome to gaming. Everyone does not need a trophy for participating.

Sometimes though you get two damage dealers who's DPS is on fire same with the healer too and I want to commend all because it's so damn rare to see, things like this should be encouraged. It's sad when I'm put in a situation like this

Yes it's rare, same situation as in RL. As an example; you can't have two valedictorians one must stand out more. While it is rare to see DPS who exceed our expectations at once, we can't award two. Just like in a competition we need to encourage not over reward. Gaming seems to be the only fair game out there were game over actually counts.

I would personally love this. I've been in parties where everyone was more than great and I would've loved to give them all comms :)

Depending on how it's implemented I think it could be pretty cool, if it is a simple comm who you want and that's it then I don't think it'll be for the better though. Part of the choose one/limited is actually good for you, every single instance isn't an example of "no one likes you" lol when there are limited comms.

Perhaps you get 1 + a pool of comms each week (or day), and can't stack them on one person. So you can always commend one person but if you'd like you can draw from your pool for extra, which would be limited in some form (for example 7 a week). There are other ways too although.. I'm not sure each role is a good one since it means in many cases the tank and healer get their own opportunity always, should avoid "always" situations. Perhaps to avoid variables (like a pool you pull from) the amount of commendations you can give is 1/3 the party size round up but no less than two, unfortunately the point of a pool size idea was that if you LOVED everyone in the group you could comm everyone - obviously you can't if 1/3 a 4 party, min 2, means only half the team gets comms.

Like other things I've mentioned in other threads, this is one of the examples I think it could be cute to utilize the mog mail system a little bit. Getting an aetheryte ticket from a mysterious sender and other little pleasant surprises. If that then I also think they should add a little reward for using your comms, some karma imp noticing you recognize and commend others and so sometimes does something. Although to be honest I've thought they could just make certain challenge log rewards selectable to make those challenge log rewards even more valuable (could choose EXP to drop on a specific job in scroll form, specific tome type (scaling numbers of course!), seal type of your choice, etc - would make those challenge logs better for all to complete).

Rewards system isn't really needed but I think if they made it so you could comm more people and having those happy moments of just being reminded "someone liked you", it's a good community encouragement (and encouraging people to encourage others is good lol). Just a small boost to the community feeling, of course there will always be people who won't take part/don't care but getting people together holding hands cliche stuff isn't too bad :P (like giving your kid the ability to give someone a gift, even though you're the one paying for it, it's still good for the kid and the person receiving, in this case SE is the parent).

Then what's the point with the comms titles /rewards? Like any other gamer out there, only one can be MVP, just like in other games.
Push to shove, tbh this is getting tiring by the day with these childish and unrealistic expectations from a game. Not everyone is equal and doesn't have to be, some are better, others are not.

P.S you can always say ty to the others , it's the same thing.

First off it's an opinion, second every parent has a way to educate, lets put this in gaming terms. Feast for example should everyone get a first place trophy? or better yet a participation plaque? Personally i think Commendations you don't use should be saved up.
Sometimes i get great groups which i would love to give everyone a commendation.
Others? Nobody gets a commendation.

I commend people for doing a great job, not a mediocre job.

Now that is an idea I like and makes sense as an alternative. I would probably just add a limit.

Sometimes I give commendations based off peoples positive attitudes and good gameplay. Sometimes I give it to the new person who gives that first time bonus. But I do agree for 8 man content we need to have at least 2 commendations. 1 for MVP and a runner up.

A runner up can be a nice alternative as well for raids, simple and fair. ^^

Why do you see it as MVP status? There is nothing wrong with wanting to appreciate more than one person that played equally well. I thought that's what the whole comm system was for?

PVP is a completely different thing.. You are fighting different teams in PVP, not fighting all for the same goal.. A commendation is just recognition that somebody did well. It is not a 1st place trophy..
There are many subjects I would agree on for your rationalization but comms isn't one of them..

multiples would ruin the entire point. Commendations are the carrot to keep people from acting like asshats, if you can give to all 3 people it would then be expected of everyone. every dungeons would get 3 commendations and the entire system gets broken.

But what's wrong with everyone getting one if they deserve it? This is what I don't get..

So happy we are talking about this. A couple things I'd like to see happen RE: Commendations.

First-- in PvP it is nearly impossible to commend anyone (at least on PS4) due to the rankings screen popping up so quickly and not being able to quickly view the commend list while it is up. Plus-- ppl leave PvP like its a fourth period French class. Nobody sticks around.

Second-- In order to get commendations you need to give commendations. I think that more ppl would use the system if they knew that their own commendations were linked to commending someone else somehow. Before anyway says that this would trivialize commendations-- lets face it-- they are already trivial. You can commend ppl because you like their glamour. Seriously.

sure, if they double the commendation rquirements for rewards if you can give 2 commendations.

Ok instead of MVP , lets use the term Most Inspiring Player ? Most Competent Player? Most Outstanding Player? what ever term you want to use. NOte: I understand and respect people want to accommodate and be nice to others. Yes there are some people who deserve it, yet there is an achievement involved.

Nope I don't like it! I find myself in a lot of DF groups, were I as the smn do the healers job, on top of dps'ing. Sometimes I do even the tank's job, while dps'ing and healing/raising the other dps's. I like to keep my 6+ commendation after we finish these runs. Giving someone the option to give more than 1 commendation, would lead to people actually commentating the healer/tank that didn't do anything. So based on plain selfishness I would like to keep it the way it is.

I agree with the people who say it should remain one commendation. If you can give out more than one it automatically makes them less special. It's supposed to be for that ONE person you thought was the best. If you can't decide who to give it to because you are so conflicted you could do what I do and just thank everyone for the run, say great job and not give it to anyone.

Yeah, but more often than not people either just leave the instance without giving it or just click the person in the role they typically give it to and move on. For me, it's usually the tank (personal bias as I main tank, I admit it...). I'll give it to the healer if the healer was exceptional, like kept a crappy tank alive or did a lot of stance dancing for DPS, less likely that I'll give it to a DPS that just shines. The only incentive to give a comm is the weekly bonus, but even that is meh and once it's done there's no more reason.

In all honesty, I feel like the comm system is really pointless overall. You get rewards up to 3k and after that, what do you do with them? It's not like you can see them in game and I doubt anyone checks the Lodestone for a character in DF to make that evaluation. Kinda the same thing with achievement points, what are they there for!? They do nothing and you can only see them on the Lodestone...

I'd love it but I don't know how they could do it fairly. I do at least try to let my teams know that I wish I had more comms to give, because they were all rock stars.

I'd like to be able to give multiple comms sometime as well - it's a nice little positive reinforcement.

How about we just store the commendations we're not giving out? Sometimes you get a bad group, so you don't give a comm, other times you got a good group so you give an extra comm. And if you're out of extra comms, you simply have to do what you do now anyway.

I agree with this. I've had a number of cases where most, if not all, of the group was really skilled and awesome to run with, but am forced to only comm. one (generally the healer, since their the ones keeping me alive so I can do my job as a tank). I've always thought a check box-like system would be best. The comm. menu would still be almost the same, showing everyone's names in a row, but would have blank boxes next to each name letting one check each box by clicking on it to decide who does and doesn't get a comm. with no limit on how many you can pick out of those present.

Sure there will be those who give everyone a comm. just because. But those will be balanced out by the ones who just leave without wasting time on comm.'s in any way at the end of a run.

Sigh, they say ignorance is a bliss and your entitled to your opinion. Notice logically I am accepting your perspective. That I believe in it is different. Your right an extra comm. won't hurt your future, the world, or this game. Once again it's an opinion. If you even follow logic and heard of of the rare trait called common sense, you would understand that certain things teach values. I am open to options and , as I had stated , agreed with options. i am all for giving out as many coms as you want, would make it much easier to farm them since noone would have to be stingy and we could all get 3/7 every run.
