Blackout - What Happens?

Since this is my first season of Feast, what happens during the blackout week? Do rankings still accumulate, they're just not posted on the site?

Nothing, really. Everything proceeds as usual except that you cannot look up the ratings on the Feast page anymore.

The cynic in me wants to remark that it's the best time to wintrade due to that.

What happens is many people think they are safe and don't que, just to see their Top 100 spot lost 1 week later. Unless they are really high on the list.
Many deliberatelly waited for the last week to get in Top 100/Top 10, because, as you may know, lower rating balances you with higher rated teammates and a higher chance to win.
However many high rated players will not que in the blind week at all so I don't know if this tactic will work. I myself need around 100 points to be in safe zone, but who knows if I'll get them with silver healers and dps in que. A tank can influence the match only so much.

That's not cynicism, it's truth.

It's exactly what has happened every season.

Look forward to name changes and fantasia, and people climbing up by an obscene amount of points.

Everybody secretly goes +100 and you lose your spot. Also... about 3-4 players nobody's ever heard of will end up in the Top 100.

haha I've already seen a few name changes, didn't think anything of it, until the post above... sort of makes sense, everyone suddenly trying to go anonymous lol

this has been my first season (since garo) and I have no chance of getting anywhere near the top 100, but it's still been a lot of fun. a steep learning curve, but fun nonetheless

these sort of "underhand" tactics, wintrading etc, sound rubbish for anyone that actually takes it seriously and has made a concerted effort to place. what a shame. sounds like the only way to compete with that is to do it yourself. maybe they should have diminishing returns for beating the same player each week, to reduce the impact of people just continuously queuing against the same team

It really is. I can only hope that the GMs are monitoring things and will strip the win traders of their rankings. But .... one can dream.

It's more likely that we will get a 3rd job in Stormblood than it is for SE to actually do something about cheaters in PvP.

Was just looking at last update out of curiosity. Did someone from aether move or get a boot. Players 3-20 (21?) all moved up but no one really moved down. The board makes sense at 56 they jumped up a bunch and everyone between them and old position moved down.

One healer moved to Chaos in hopes of getting #1 because Aether ques are dead because there's no decay system and everyone sits on their rating for 3 seasons already and SE still don't gets how to easily fix it (a hint: add ratings decay!). And obviously this ruined already broken matchmaking here as he being low rated (but with diamond skills) was matched with other diamonds and boosted them even higher. There's just so much wrong with PvP in this game it's mindblowing.

Seemed to not be much movement in aether top 100. Surprised people don't complain about people moving data centers mid season.

I'm sorry, but I see almost frozen top 100 on Aether (just compare it to Chaos). Ques may be not dead for unranked, but for high tier matches they are dead, and you need diamond/plat matches to continue climbing.

Yes, but there were almost no changes in last day before blind week. It was frozen. While on Chaos last day was crazy, just look at Top 10 movement.

Are you honeslty basing the movement/activity of an entire datacenter off of a single day? You want to compare leaderboards that haven't updated in a week?? Should I be screenshotting daily so I can claim said datacenter is more active based on a single day of a multi-month season? Could I claim aether has been more active all season since top 100 consist of more diamonds and has a higher numerical value in both the top and bottom of the leaderboard? No, these statistics mean nothing to the current activity of said datacenters.

High tier matches are still popping, people are getting into diamond/plat and games at that tier are still popping.

Do a bit of research, there are streams and a discord of people still continuing to play.

If you say so. There's just no point to argue with some people, they always think they are right even if they are wrong. But I trust that healer who talked to us every evening in discord more than you.

Literally mindblown at what you're posting. There is just no way you can so oblivious with so much evidence proving you wrong.

What evidence? That person said it was litearlly impossible to get diamond/platinum matches when he moved from #3 spot. You don't trust your datacenter's former #3 player? If there some matches happened in blind week after he transferred then it certainly was not enough. Because in just a week on Chaos he got from zero rating to Top 10 or possibly Top 3 (we'll know for sure tomorrow), thats how active Chaos is in comparison.

There are streams and result boards posted all the time of the tons of matches happening. Did the idea that more people would decide to queue during the black week ever cross your mind. It only takes a week to get in top 10/100.

I trust the tons of people whom are actually currently queuing on aether, not the person who has no idea of the activity after transferring before the black week.

No one is comparing Chaos activity to Aether. I said the queues on aether are not dead, soon as you stop being so stubborn maybe you'll take the time out to do any inkling of research.

I feel so lucky I made a couple of extra matches when everyone was saying 1950 is safe.
