Stormblood weapon ilvl?

Do you think Kinna weapon is enough? With all shire gear 260 to 270.

Mainly for SB Main quest.

May not be in my time to farm finish anima weapon.

It should be, Ironworks was good for like 3-5 levels give or take I doubt it will be much different, they will load us with weapons and gear overtime again.

The shire weapon should be enough. Similar to the last time before an expansion the last tomb gearset should hold you over at least until lvl 68

highest 3.x ilevel gear should be usefull until lv 66, if it is like with the upgraded ironworker sets during 3.0.
And I think the MQ will give crafted HQ gears as reward again (maybe starting with ilevel 245?)

230 will be plenty. Anything higher will just last you a little longer.

Assumption:
3.X level cap: 70

lvl 65 item ilvl: 276

So, if my assumptions are correct, I would say max 3.X ilvl items would be relevent up to lvl 63, and the weapon to lvl 64.

You get i110 towards the end of the 2.X MSQ now, and that's good enough to into HW with. HW also brought in new i115 gears for level 50s, which are easily crafted. While the highest you could get at this level is i130, you don't need it for starting HW.

The equivalent of ARR's i110 should be about HW's i250. SB might also bring new easy recipes for i255. So Kinna weapon and shire gear should be good enough for starting SB.

There will probably be story quests that give baseline gear before they throw you into the first leveling dungeon so gear will mostly be a non issue even if you are undergeared. You might have a bit more trouble if they inflate the HP of mobs again if you are severely undergeared but they will probably have NPCs that sell gear like they did in HW for alts or edge cases like that.

The HW quest gear were HQ versions of crafted gear and in the first couple of weeks of HW the MB was flooded with them making them somewhat cheap to buy off of players.

At this rate we will be dealing 9999+ damage each hit

I personnally did all the heavensward leveling with dreadwyrm, mean until 60 I was no more than 130.

To be honest the augmented ironworks was good all the way up to 58 pretty much. weapons to 60 in some cases.

If you compare augmented ironworks daggers with the level 58 hq ademantite knives for example there's almost no difference between them. same with other jobs. I pretty much used augmented ironworks from 50 all the way to 60. unless I got a dungeon drop. was the same with all my jobs pretty much

my pld used zeta all the way to 60.. and iron works gear all to 58. at which point I did swap out for the hq ademantite cos it was a massive defence boost.

there are a couple of dungeon drops that would have been upgrades but levelling is so fast it wasn't worth grinding the vault for a new sword or something because you'd probably be almost 60 by the time you got it....

it wouldn't then surprise me at all if augmented shire gear would take you right up to 70 if they follow the same trends.

All the way to 70 is a little optimistic, I think. Even using Augmented Ironworks to 60, you were putting unnecessary stress on your healer, as there is a significant stat difference between the AIW set and the Adamantite set... much less the HQ set.

270 Shire gear (if they don't release a 280 or even 300 before Stormblood) will reasonably last until about 65-66. At that point you'll want to swap out for new gear.

also something to consider, hence why once I get better things imma start changing out fast.

I wouldn't be surprised to find npc vendors selling the NQ level 60 weapons, similar to how you can just buy ilvl 115 weapons in Ishgard. So whatever you can get your hands on right now will be fine. And if not, they will be easily replaceable in order to get started.

Nah it wouldn't. with exception to the earlier mentioned fending gear at 58 for the big defence boost the stat differences aren't significant at all.

weapons especially. take PLDs
Level 50. Excalibur Zeta :- damage 58, attack power, 44.85, dps 19.33, str 41, vit 48, crit 36, det 23, (give or take customizations)
Level 58 Adamantite Broadsword HQ :- damage 59, attack power 37.76, dps 19.66, str 48, vit 47, crit 39, lolparry 27.

the difference between the 2 isn't signidicant at all, so the zeta would easily last till 60. unless you got lucky with a dungeon drop like the halonic inquisitors sword or Belah'dian Anelace. but as I said earlier levelling is so fast its not worth grinding the dungeons to get those cos you'd probably be 60 before you got one.

level 58, adamantite knives hq, damage 59, attack power 48.77 dps 19.66, dex 67, vit 66, crit 38, skillspeed 55.

admitidedly going from 57 weapon damage to 59 is a bigger step and a boost to dex, but it's still not significant for a levelling environment. and again dungeon drops are better but you level so fast it's not worth grinding for them...

going on the gear side.

level 50, aug iron works corselet of scouting, def 95, mdef 95, dex 50, vit 59, acc 33, det 34,
level 58, chimerical scouting body hq, def 127, mdef 127, dex 63, vit 61, acc 51, crit 35,

from a dps point of view the only real difference is a boost to dex. but again not significant in a levelling environment. the dps is again a bigger gain but less important than for tanks, and it wouldn't be terribly taxing on healers to use the iron works all the way to 60. many people do.. if not 60 then at least to 58 like i said earlier.

so honestly if storm blood is remotely similar. your augmented shire and stuff will get you to 70 with no issues. it may not be the very "best in slot" but it's unlikely to be far behind by any significant amount

We've all done it as HW got released, most people rushing to new level cap, were wearing old coil gear & iron works or even the NQ gear from the quests/npc's. There have been even a few that just jumped onto the pvp band wagon, since plenty of us had enough seals or were even capped.

However that changed quite quick, after 2 weeks people got kicked from roulettes/dungeon runs when not wearing the correct gear. The question here is not, if your gear would be enough to reach the new end game cap, the question is if you have enough friends that don't give a damn if you're wearing the proper gear or how fast can you level :)

Another thing to keep in mind are the new jobs that are released with the new expansion, just like in HW I am pretty sure there will be somewhere a NPC that sells you NQ gear, or you might end up getting HQ from quests. I don't think they will add the new jobs to the existing relics, they haven't done that for the 2.0 series either.

Therefore I personally think, as long as you cap your tomes, hoard X-Primal token/weapon's, pages (if you have the access to savage), regular tokens (none savage raids), you should be fine.

It's worth noting that silver feathers can now be used to buy 230 gear at 60 and 115 at 50. This suggests that the initial vendors we meet in SB will sell 230 stuff the same way vendors in Ishgard sold 115 stuff.

So as long as you're at about 230 average and don't ignore the gear upgrades quests (and vendors) give you as you level you should be fine for SB main story.

I'm still going to aim for i270 though. Still had my 130 belt and a couple of bits of jewellery left when I hit 60 that first time.

i245 should be the viable mini ilevel to participate in Stormblood.

i270 gear should be good until roughly 65 when it can start being phased out.

I'm ignoring the stuff you posted about relic weapons because that's not what I was talking about. I was talking about AIW armor set versus Adamantite armor set. Yes, I will readily admit that Relic weapons or augmented Ironworks weapons would have been fine until 60.

I didn't say you couldn't use AIW all the way to 60 (and thus Augment Shire gear all the way to 70). I'm simply pointing out that it's too optimistic to say "it's perfectly fine". It's passable after 56, yes, but you're gimping the party, especially if you're the tank, by not upgrading your equipment after 56. Again, not saying it's wrong or horrible, but it's certainly not good advice to say "don't worry about it". Especially if you just have basic Shire (not augmented) or less.

A dps could get away with leveling all the way to level 70 with 260/270 but a tank should start replacing their gear around 65.

Bingo. i260/270 gear will be fine all the way to 70. If you get a better piece from a dungeon or quest, by all means replace, but it won't be necessary.

If there is a primal trial between level 65 and 70 with 1 or 2 dmg check mechanics, then please upgrade at least the weapon
