The Offical Aesthetician Thread!

Have you guys ever wanted to try out more facial customizations for your characters using the aesthetician feature in FFXIV? Well this thread was made so all of you can offer your suggestions and feedback on how to improve this part of the game, along with posting or making descriptions of what you'd like to see in it too! It doesn't have to be strictly facial features you want to see improved in this game to post here; if you want to post about adding body paint/tattoo, etc, etc. Then your also welcome to join here too! The more posts about improving the aesthetic features in FFXIV the better! So if your interested in making aethetician more fun for all old and new fans joining the game, including yourselves, come on in and make some posts and have fun! :D

The ability to be able to change your skin color using the Aesthetician, To many times have I paid 10$ for a fantasia and have a skin color I thought I loved look completely different due to the difference in lighting. Changing the color of your skin alone shouldn't have to cost you 10$. XD

I remember that thread! Someone suggested lore wise to have a tanning booth in the game that can change your skin tone! :D Even if the skin changing feature was just limited to only a few lighter or darker skin tones for your character to switch to, it would be seriously helpful in the sort of situations you just said! Sometimes, I think my Miqo'te girl is a bit too pale and would love to make an improvement on her skin. ^^;

Personally, I think it should allow for full customization outside of obvious few things like Race, Clan, Gender, Height and Voice...

More lip color options. Like maybe metallic colors?

I will try to leave them in order of what we need more "urgent" (at least to my perception)
- Change skin tone.
- More hair colors. (It's time for this, right?)
- More facial paint and colors.
- More tattoos (for face and body, different and for all races)
- Release the hairstyles of each race for all. (Or the most requested by the people)
- More eyebrows and beards.
- More facial features. (More scars, moles for all races and male too, or other marks for the face, etc)
- More eye and lip colors.

And other "exclusive" for each race.
- More tails for miqo'te and au ra.
- To be able to choose different ears for miqo'te.
- Separate the horns from the face and add new types for au ra.
- Eyebrows for the hyur highlander!
- More clasps for elezen.

These are the things that I have thought for the moment.

Do we really need options that will do nothing but spawn more hideous characters? Metallic lipstick. Seriously?

Generally I find folks who are unsatisfied with color options just have no idea how to use what's available to them. Adding more options won't make them less generic or ugly.

I had this happen to me ;_; I had thought I had chosen a bit of a tan skin color but a change in lighting I ended up very orange color instead, I look like a oompa loompa in snowy areas ._.

I personally wouldn't use metallic lipstick, but what you find hideous others may like.

I would love love LOVE to be able to change eye color. Skin tone would also be so nice as well, but eye color is my number one wish for the Aesthetician.

Would love to be able to customize face separate from facial markings on Miqo'te males and females. Between the two, there is only -1- face option with no markings, and that is a Sunseeker Female face.

In it's current state, improvements can be made by allowing more customization of things we do have some control over. Only things like height, race, gender etc. should need a potion. The addition of a weight slider would be awesome. Eye color shouldn't require a potion either.

As for things like skin tone, I can kind of see why it would need a potion considering that you can go from almost moon white, to nearly a navy blue if you do use a potion. So perhaps tanning beds as others have suggested that only allow you to go up or down a certain amount of shades for your current color. The lighting we have available to us in the customization screen is very limited. At least give us more screens, if nothing else.


For instance, my miner spends a HUGE amount of time in Thanalan, she should either be red from sunburn, or darker from suntan. I shouldn't have to pay 10 dollars for this change

The only thing I really want is for the "Claws of the Beast" to be implemented as some kind of body feature (instead of hand glamour) so that I could wear fingerless gloves AND have nice nails(versus generic hotdog fingers :/)...Oh!and I would like an "eyeliner" thing for female miqo'tes too just like the one male miqo'tes have (I'm saying fem miqo'tes bc other female races already have something across those lines!? but who cares more makeup for everyone boys and girls \o/).

- BEARDS!
- More Poofy hairstyles.
- More hair colors.
- More scar options. (Lalafell & Au Ra etc. included)
- Piercings.

Enable the dye feature on skin. Skin problem solved.

Hairstyles that stand out more individually and aren't just a copy of another with a different hairband color or bangs added! XD Seriously, at least for myself alot of the hairstyles tend to blend together. ^^;

Ooh! Also please add an aesthetic features where we can optionally add bangs and hair accessories to any hairstyle without having to pick another hairstyle. Again, it's just silly to make a whole knew hairstyle that's exactly the same as anither with a tiny addition when you could just add a whole new feature for those minor additions. :/

But don't think they'll do it cause Fantasia for those 2 brings a lot of money -_-

No objections to any of the ideas though, whether they're tanning booths, metallic lipstick, or simply more customisation in general.

XD I didn't think anybody would think this thread was Jandelaine related, but it could too since he does style our character's hair! :D Also, now that I think about it, we should totally have more Jandelaine related quests. At least every few patches. I kinda miss interacting with him. :'3

I want this hairstyle since I thought it'd look perfect on any female characters, especially the Auri ans Miqo'te. X3

I would like to see FAT characters. Everyone is slim and muscular. Where do the fat people go? Do they get thrown off the cliff by someone's boot while yelling This is Eorzeaaaaa!!?

PS limitations. Can't fit fat characters on such a slim console.

Eye and skin color changing...

I want to steal the Roes perfect beard for my highlander.

A few things i'd personally like to see:

♦ Make lipstick a little less gawdy on darker skinned characters, they always look so overly shiny and the colours just don't line up with what it says on the colour pallete, for example I pick red and I get a sort of light pinkish purple which totally isn't what I clicked.

♦ A few more eye colours. I noticed it's a little tricky to get a few eye colours such as a nice deep red colour, I think I saw someone mention they had difficulty getting a nice blue earlier in this thread too.

♦ Age slider. It'd be nice to be able to have an age slider so we could have more variety in player characters, personally i'd always pick the youngest, because it's nicest too look at :P But I know a lot of people would like the option and it'd make the world feel more realistic and immersive to have some old veteran looking characters out there.
