[Suggestions] Please consider account-wide mounts and minions

This might help people with alts on different realms with their collections and is a nice feature to have for players, especially those with legacy mounts that cannot use them on their other characters.

Certain mounts & minions are account wide. The reason the rest aren't is because they are classed as rewards or achievements. If they applied across the account they lose their value as being evidence of you having completed the awarding method (ie the Alex Savage mounts).

I understand your point but offer the counterpoint of how the game was designed.

How do they lose their value if the account owner still had to gain that achievement for the mount to be unlocked?

It's to do with prestige value. Instead of one character having an achievement mount, eg A12S, up to 40 per account would have it & across multiple servers. One successful static's completion of A12S (I keep using that assuming it has a mount) would therefore introduce 320 mounts rather than 8! Surely you can see how quickly it would become devalued. It would completely skew the perceived "eliteness" of end game, which seems to be one of the most important things to those who do it. That was how it was designed, whether for right or wrong.

I am in for that when it comes to mounts and minions from events.
You did it on one character? Then it should be unlocked accountwide and should be able to be bought as alt from an NPC. It would be fine if it costs a certain amount of Gil. ^^

If they were account wide it would still only introduce 8. Also those characters can't all be on at the same time so it's not like they're creating a wall of characters all showing off the mount at the same time. While it was designed that way, change isn't necessarily bad (we can use our chocobos in queue now!). It could be less about the viewpoint when designing the current system and more the devs just not thinking ahead to multiple characters until after the singular character programming for an account had gone too far and there simply wasn't the time or resources to readjust it at that point.

I'd agree when it comes to mounts and minions from events. If we later decide to make a new character, we'd no longer be able to have the items we'd already earned on an earlier one. But for ones that remain available to earn in-game, I like having them character based. If we got everything account wide as soon as we'd earned it once, then we wouldn't have as much available to earn on a new character.

Taking a couple of the simplest examples, I want my newest alt to still be able to complete the Curiosity Killed the Coeurl quest to get his Coeurl Kitten, or the Unicorn Power quest to get his white mage mount. It would effectively take those quests away (or at least remove the point of them) if I already had all my mounts and minions when I created the character. One of the reasons for making multiple alts is the ability to repeat content. Making that content's rewards account-wide removes that advantage.



(The other case in which I'd agree that they should be account-wide is with any that are purchased from the Mog Station. If such things are to exist on the Mog Station, then they should be account based just as CE bonuses are. But I really think they shouldn't be there in the first place, which would make that a moot point.)

My legacy chocobo is account wide. My veteran's rewards are account wide. My 1.x goobbue is character locked. This is fine.

What I want is to be able to send mail and share housing with my same server alts.

Some achievement mounts and minions WOULD be beneficial, and sensible, to have account wide, particularly from seasonal events. (Looking at you Yo-kai). Any number of reasons might be called upon for a person to switch one of their alts to a main character, or to even make a new character to play with friends on a different server, and know that no matter how much you earned an achievement, or how much this new character is your new main, it will never live up to some of the glories of an alt.
I'll give SE leeway that some mounts they simply can't make account wide, like all the ones in the mog station that aren't account-wide. If they changed those, they'd have to issue refunds to people who purchased multiple copies on their account. At least, good business ethics would dictate that. So current mog station mounts/minions won't change, but I do hope to see more future account-wide frills added.
And possible seasonal events changed into an account wide achievement tab.

I'm all for going like some other popular MMO that shall not be named, and having the minion and mount books account wide.

I would love shared mounts and minions!!!
