New player

hi guys I just started playing can anyone tell me what is the best pve server to go to population wise? the server im on rabanastre seems awfully dead. any information on getting started would be great, i am a pve/raider type player and like people

Lindblum, Mysidia, Cornelia, and Besaid are relatively popular servers. There was a decrease lately from other games coming out but in like 2 weeks there will be more people on from patch 1.20

Wutai has been consistently near the top of the chocobo scale.

Besaid is a RP server right? RP servers scare me :P

Unofficially. There are no pve, pvp, rp servers for FF. Besaid was just dubbed the RP server at launch to kinda get most of the same people onto the same server. As far as popularity, Rab is actually a pretty popular server. You've probably got yourself tucked away in some nook in Gridania, don't you? lol. Head to Ul'Dah no matter what server you are on, that's where everyone is.

I'm still not even sure how the chocobo scale works. I'm on Fabul (a 1-chocobo server) and I am constantly bombarded with people. Go figure.

Mysidia is teh best in my opinion, you can always get a pt rolling in at leat 10 min, if it popular 5 min. We have very nice people and a lot of lss!

btw is it really 3 dollars a month per character? that seems kind of ridiculous to me 1 dollar a month per char makes a lot more sense specially where a lot of ppl like having 6 - 8 chars I know i do
id be a lot more willing to fork out 8 bux a month for 8 chars than i would 3 bux a month for 1 char to be honest

Unless you're one of those people who wants an army of alts for unlimited bag space and anima, then there's really no need to have more than one character. You can experience everything there is to do in the game with only one character.

Yes you do not need multiple characters to experience this game fully. Its a refreshing aspect of this game that differentiates it from some of the others out there.

what about crafting? dont you need multiple chars for the diff crafting skills? most games limit crafting to 1 or 2 skills per char which means u need 6 - 8 chars to get all crafters

You can currently level all crafts to maximum on one character.

You can take any craft to 50 (the level cap) that you want on one character.

One.

One is all you need.

I thought you needed 3 chars 1 per city to see each cities story. Maybe I am wrong unless that doesn't really count as content.

Considering that what is locked to each city only really varies in window dressing and setting, not so much.

Yep, that's one of the core ideas behind the game ivy. Being able to do every thing on one character.
Hell even the variance between the races and tribes is so negligible its mostly just a aesthetic decision.

Oh, and just a friendly bit of warning many of the denizens of these forums. if not the games player base has an adverse if not violent (and some what comical) reaction to the word toon.

Doesnt matter, unless you overley enjoy the different tools rather than just becoming rich, you can become a millionaire on most crafts alone by just spamming AAAAA (or X if you use ps3 controller).

Tip:

Find synth you can make on standard and that sells for decent.
Turn on "Background Mode" in controller options.
Go into synth mode and do 1 so its last.
Turn on a movie.
Spam A button.

Indeed, yes, Besaid is the unofficial NA RP server, as designated by the FFXIV Roleplaying Coalition.

However, you're right in that, unless you seek them out, you often don't see them. They're not going to pester the non-RPers. They're pretty respectful people. Many non-RPers simply choose Besaid because of its active community. It's a great server.

I started on Rabanastre in open beta and first week of launch, and didn't like it. I then created a character on Besaid and never looked back.

MYSIDIA! MYSIDIA! MYSIDIA! *cheers*

Seriously, I've server hopped with friend, and we found that Mysidia was a great server. Friendly people, friendly atmosphere. In fact, we have an LS that acts more like family and we have like a sister LS of the same type. It all meshes well.

By the way, we are called The Returners. Just wanted to let you know because it's a cool name and friendly/helpful. We do events every night as well for most any level.

Come to Mysidia loads of really great people, havent checked the chocobos since CE release, but it is really active and if theres something you need to learn i'm sure the people on Mysidia will help you :)

mysidia has allot of English speaking players and link shells. Mostly everyone is friendly here, mostly, mhua haha

although i think i recall yoshi saying once youll only be able to master one craft as part of his future plan

i don't think it was 100% but somewhere he mentioned that was a possablility

Either way I specifically said "They never ones said they ARE going to limit the amount of clases per character" and the link you gave also does not demonstrate them saying you will be restricted to only 1 DoH per character. It referes to "masterclass". Which to my knowledge, has yet to be defined to us. Nice nija edit on that though.

Doesn't matter weather it be master class, a job or a fucking lolipop, it will be better than the default crafting and you'll only be able to have one of them. Not to mention, you started attacking me. You could of just said "Where is your source?". And we'd have a nice conversation but that is a little too tough for you.
