Why do healers do so little damage in PvP? Also can SCH get a bit more for defense?

I just do not understand this, what is the point? Say for some reason you have 2 healers going 1 on 1, we just stare at each other. I do not get why I can take 10k of damage in 2-3 seconds while I do 129 with ruin II (though I did find it funny chasing that monk with no hp and killing them with it OHHHHHHHHHHH 1 got one kill EVER as a healer -.-)

For the defense comment I mean stuff like stun and heavy, giving out real status effects. All I can do is hope Aetherflow is up andd run away spaming abilities, where whm can AOE stun to delay others doing damage to ice.

There was a time where healers could use cleric stance and fight back if an enemy engaged them. That was apparently OP so they disabled it in PvP. To me it didn't make much sense because if someone was to sneeze in your direction. Your cast is interrupted every time.

Because you're supposed to be healing that 10k damage in 2-3 seconds

In other modes it never really bugged me, but in Shatter it's a little frustrating to be stuck at ice with like a BLM or SMN and wholly unable to contribute. So little fighting goes on at ice - even BRDs/MCH don't try to interrupt casters anymore because it's more advantageous to just PVE ice lol - so aside from dashing in to AOE stun an opposing team I just kinda stand there and Aero spam on enemy BLMs for lulz.

This is actually one area where I think healer DPS needs improvement, go figure. Even if CS worked at half effectiveness or something, or was only enabled for certain maps in Frontline.

I think the issue is less that healers can't do damage and more that they aren't rewarded for being healers. Battle high > get 4 kills, battle fever > get 8 kills, get 5000 kills achievement. Lots of stuff for being a damage dealer but there's no achievements or bonuses for healing.

So why play a healer when you get nothing out of healing? Well the only reason right now is if you're after win credit, cause your team is more likely to die without healing.

Pvp is the only place where I agree with the sentiment your job is to heal not dps. Cause I remember when healers could use cleric's stance, they would abandon their group and go off looking for kills leaving their team to die. If a healer found a lone straggler that person was doomed. It is impossible to kill a healer alone and with cleric's stance they could actually do sizable damage to the point where they could basically aero you to death. And no heals were coming to save you because your heals were off doing the same thing.

As for more defense on SCH, miasma 2 for instant AoE heavy, your pvp AoE knockback skill and blizzard 2 for AoE bind are your best bets.

The tooltip says Miasma II heavy effect doesn't work in pvp areas. Is it wrong?

Because your job is a "Healer" in PvP

Yeah that is the main point of what I was taking about. least on data one I can stop them from tagging it but with ice i am useless, why?

also I am not really complaining about being a DPS as a healer but more so complaining I can only do 40-200 damage. It is way too small. Of course a healer is not a DPS but it should be high enough to play mind games. Also what does battle fever do? so as a healer I am cheated out a buff just for being a healer? Tanks can take damage and deal it, how come healers can't do any respectable damage?

tanks are tanks and they deal damage. If you think about it, DPS shouldn't have stuns, dispel, etc, I mean DPS are for damage right?

The person you quoted is wrong. only thing I can do is bind from a cross class ability and heavy if I hit someone while mounted.

Again, You're job is a HEALER. you HEAL. not deal damage, if healers were trying to deal damage in PvP, then they wouldn't be healing and then dps/tanks would die. causing a easy loss. nobody wants a healer trying to dps of 200 dmg when they can heal for all the damage and burst that will be thrown at them.

Tanks are already doing their job. Tanking, they have a higher HP pool than DPS so they can survive longer in a battle and provide some damage and vulnerability effects on enemies.

healers do not do enough damage, that is way too low.

but we don't need clearic stance, not even sure why that was taken away but doing 70 damage to ice is way to small

Again, you are a healer. in shatter the DPS have a job and that is to do damage to ice and players. Tanks have a job to survive and cause disturbance in engagements. Healers have a job to heal any incoming damage from enemies and throw debuffs onto enemies such as sleep/bind/slow/etc.

the time you are spending attacking the ice, you could've saved someone from dying by that point.

Not when the matches starts and no one goes to the ice near the base, and since it is the start of the match, nothing to do really.

healers need to do more damage then 70 per cast, that is way to low.

This would be like taking away all stuns/binds/ etc from DPS because they are there only to do damage

Why does a healer doing damage at the very start of the match matter when you have dps right next to you that can do damage and provide killing small ices in a instant. I don't get the point you are complaining about.

I'm trying really hard to not be rude and be helpful but you aren't making this any easy with such complaints. you are complaining about healers not doing damage in PvP when your job is TO HEAL. which makes no sense at all.

They took cleric stance away because you'd see teams of WHMs holy farming other teams, it was GG if your team had 3-4 WHMs and no other classes would run making the entire mode pointless for other players. Because everyone was running SMN in shatter and it became GG if you had teams of SMN, they made the ice magic resistant to encourage other classes to play (foe req pls, mele pls). Healers should be healing in PVP which is why striking dummy PvP modes like shatter are so horrible. For PvP regulars, they don't want to spend time dpsing a dummy and healers basically have nothing to do but sit on their hands while at the striking dummies. I understand the frustration from the OP; but if you want to DPS - come in as a DPS class.

Well why couldn't they just address holy then?
Or SMN on ice, was it fair for BLM?
Or not have "striking dummy" PvP areas like shatter?
What happened to having different BG style arenas like WoW has? I mean is it a bad idea to have a PvP DF that goes on the likes of, hold 3/7 areas (for 3 sides) or hold 3/5 areas for 2 sides?

No they are support, DPS shouldn't have them, they only have them now because they got rid of the support class and gave everyone hybrids.
However this does not change SCH is very lacking in PVP, abilities wise.
