patch is live

DLing right now!

i started the launcher, did an update then, it just said some script error on the launcher, any idea?

Keep trying it works eventually

I restarted my computer real fast and it cleared up the issue.

keep rebooting the launcher it shuld get thru

I am too on PS4... they must have been offline as I was trying because the login screen wasn't loading (black screen) but after a console restart a couple times it's now working. It's 904.83 mb's for playstation.

Never seen the launcher patch DL so slowly. Usually only takes 30 seconds to a minute and then moves to the the login screen where can do the game patch.

same with mine. I got the installer update, but keep getting black screen. going to restart as you did

Are patches always this big? I don't remember xD

Hit yes and keep restarting the launcher. Not the computer. It will eventually work.

I got that, restart fixed it for me.

Maybe just coincidence but I just shut it down via task manager and then ran it again and it worked.

It's a javascript error so... this might sound weird but, maybe you need to update your browser? I'm not very sure how the client works but it seems to borrow from some of the same resources that your internet browser uses (it may be actually using the browser itself). Probably someone here can explain what you could try updating.

omg this launcher patch is so slow when I made my first post at 11:56pm it was at 18% and it 12:02am now and only reached 39%. I'm on PS4 if it matters.

Ah so a restart fixed it? Maybe their client was fighting for resources that an open browser window was using then and it timed out.

This one worked! Weird the others didn't. idk computers man.

Took over 20 minutes just to do the launcher patch and now it at the actual patch and only downloading at between 0.02 and 0.4mb/s what with the crappy DL speeds on PSN?

I'm simply overwrought with a furious anticipating excitement.

Took about 2 minutes for me to download. Thanks OP for the heads up.

it was slow here too, dsl+ 45mpbs service on PC came in at around 3~4mbps.

IIRC patches that had 24-mans included were bigger. Oh well.

Yeah me! Now I have to download and install again the whole FF XIV:ARR + Heavensward.
I guess it was too hard to implement a REPAIR function that checks for file integrity and download only what went wrong or was missing, like it's done in other MMO or games. ( > _ < )

Stupid IT question "did you restart?" lol, not that but, did you clear your temp. files? Can go get CCleaner and it'll do it for you, just keep in mind that unless you tell it not to it's going to go run through your chrome (/whatever browser) sessions and make your browsers forget you were logged into stuff (not end of the world but could be surprising lol).

Well the patch failed and had to restart so restarted and the patch seemed to be doing fine downloading at 2mb a second then it dropped off a cliff and back to only DLing at 0.02-0.04 mbs/s

I'll guess the servers are being overloaded atm.

There is no stupid question when trying to help :)
But yeah I've done all that, I even started the game on a new Windows user profile to eliminate any user data related issue but I still get the same error.

:( sorry, I saw a few other solutions though and this one seemed popular:

1.) Go to My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn
2.) Open up FFXIV_BOOT.cfg in Notepad
3.) Change the line "BootVersionCheckMode" number from 0 to 1.
4.) Launch and you should be good to go!

Well it finally completed the update after crashing multiple times. So overall took about an hour to update.

It's supposed to end 4 hours from now. Don't get your panties in a bunch.
