Financial questions
Hello everyone. I haven't played since the month of release and had a few questions about money. When I quit I was pretty rich I thought with 400k, it was nowhere near the highest, but rich for a working man. Now I see RMT retards selling a million for a dollar fifty. Been leveling my crafting skills and I make/collect most of the stuff myself because it usually seems expensive.
But is money real easy to get now at max level?
How much do you think the average player has these days?
Is my 400k just couch change these days and I should spend it to speed up my crafting?
Around how much is it for a house?
Thanks for any and all answers, just trying to get an idea where the economy is since I haven't played in over 3 years.

I get by with simply Desynthing the stuff that I get from dungeons. I Desynth with Goldsmithing, Carpenter, and Leatherworker, and i'm sitting at 17million. I don't purposely try to get gil, because ultimately it's worthless unless you're trying to outfit yourself with the absolute newest crafted gear (for combat, crafting, or gathering) and materia.

400k really isnt much these days anymore, just take a look at the market board for level 60 gear - thats gonna buy you a sleeve from current gearsets.
Making money isnt to hard though, not even for someone who hasnt reached HW/endgame yet. Selling certain items you can purchase now with GC-seals can earn you a decent shunk (on my server stuff like arachne webs are going for 50k).
And once your crafters are up to max level making money is even getting easier.
Getting a house wont though - mostly because non are available. Other than that the price is ranging from 4 millions (small ones, even the avarage, non-crafting casual player can afford these days) to 80 millions or so on large ones.

400k is nothing these days, sorry. i can easyily make 1 mio a day without even trying...
-
Yea for lot of people 400k is pretty low amount, and gil pretty easy to make if have crafting and gathering leveled. Also I would agree with Klamor gil is pretty worthless unless you buying the latest glamour at patch release or buying your mats for crafting.
-
If your crafting is decent the level 50 stuff still sells fairly well furniture wise. Granted I think its mainly cus its so much labor for some stuff that people just say screw it and buy.
-
I hate to break it to you, but that was never a large amount.
-
your 400k is good enough and will last if you don't plan to invest on ingame housing or spending for the latest glamour at patch launch.
otherwise, like others said it's not a very large amount and would suggest you level gathering with crafting if you have the time, join a craft/gatherer LS make some friends with your server's crafting/gathering community, get discounts/advice/help and you'll be rich in no time ^^
-
Depends on the economy of your server mostly. I can make about 500k with 1k lore, so crafting is just a waste of time, and that's just from doing my daillies.
-
The more complicated crafting becomes and more profitable it is, the less people will want the hassle to gather.
Not as much cash as crafting but a might bit less stressful to keep relative (3 classes to gear rather then what? Seven?). You don't have to own and work a goldmine to get rich man, just sell the shovels!
-
400k is what I would call a comfortable pad of money assuming you only plan to use it for teleports and the occasional vendor mat while leveling crafting. I would avoid spending much of it.
If you find yourself gathering mats yourself because they seem expensive, why not gather more and sell half on the market board? Look up the MB prices for things you can make (and how often they actually sell) and make a few things to sell here and there. Don't expect to get rich off one huge sale...1m gil in one go is nice, but you'll make a better living of many small sales than one big one.
-
@OP also, if you have an FC/LS who's willing to help, you guys can farm unsync ARR trials/raids, aquapolis, potd for those music sheets, armor replica materials, minions and other things that could be saleable in your server's market

Gil is very easy to make in this game. As long as you're making a conscious decision to save up, you'll get what you want. There's almost nothing you have to spend gil on, and many sources of things to sell.

400k is pocket change. I used to just keep 300k on hand and deposit the rest while i was saving for my first house. Now that I have a house, i just keep it all on hand... Sitting at a little over 5mil right now.
-
You also get a decent level of pocket change from doing the regular daily stuff: roulettes, clan hunts, selling little things on the MB now and then. A concerted effort like many outlined here will do the trick.

I recently leveled a character from start to the end of 3.4 story.
By the end of the story line i had 8m gil+ sitting in my pocket.
I didn't really spend any money and was selling most of the gear i got from quests or as a side drop, like minions.
So, 400k doesn't seem like that much.
It's really just enough for the bare necessities, like repairing your gear, getting cheap materia for your gear.
Crafting can be pricey to level too. Especially depending on how deep you wanna get into crafting, you'll end up spending millions on gear.
If you just came back after 3 years, that means you haven't done HW yet.
I'd recommend doing some of that and try to hustle as hard as you can along the way.
I found a bit of coin in Palace of the Dead as well, while just leveling new classes.
Can also just join Aquapolis parties and hope for some raw cash.
If you have GC Seals, items like Arachne Web, Raziqsand, Raziqsap, Scheelite etc are high atm.
