Pet egi implemenatation is a little bit clunky?

So we'll have to change the appearance of pets through text commands which we'll have to reasearch and remember from outside sources.

Like, really?..

Sure, it's better to have clunky text commands than no at all, but many months after this feature was announced I'd expect some more convinient use, like, I don't know...

Right clicking the pet and selecting Change Appearance from sub-menu?
Some UI options in Pets menu?

I really hope text is just a temporary measure because devs lack time, and we are not actually stuck with it well into 4.0.

I was thinking of just creating a macro, and placing it in your hotbar to add a glamour to your egi. It's just one button push away.

That's what I would think you would need to do.

If you think about it most of the things we can adjust are done through text commands, head gear display, weapon display, stance changes, emotes, NA status, the list goes on. If you think about it its a cosmetic change, similar to the gauss barrel display, and DRK aura, those us text commands as well so is semi makes sense. We'll just have to wait and see, it might be easier than you think. Maybe something like /egicaster ramuh, /egitank carbuncle red, /egimelee shiva.

A little early to whine, isn't it? Can you at least wait until you know what a system is in practice before complaining?

I didn't expected anything other than the usual white knightning though.
Asking for QoL tweaks is BAD.

eh, better than nothing, I suspect there is a serious issue with spaghetti/inherited code that is truly preventing a fleshed out Egi glam system.

Considering you need to de-summon and then re-summon the Egi, I could see where using text commands are more suitable. Adding it as part of the drop-down menu when right clicking could interfere with someone trying unsummon or mark their pet (even though I don't know anyone that uses this in fights, it could still be a reason behind the decision why it was not done) during a fight.

Or simply because only one job currently has this and making a 'fleshed out' glamouring system is simply not a priority. They may be waiting to see how many people use it and/or consider fleshing it out more and adding to other jobs where applicable if it becomes truly popular in the long run (faeries and SCH; turrets and MCH; other jobs in the future, if they are put in, like beastmaster). Right now, it's a new thing of fancy that will have rampant use that will sharply drop when people return to their mains (much like SMN at the beginning of 3.0).

It sucks. I want to see Summoners get a real pet system that we can level them up and write AI for them.

tbh i was hoping for new egi's or even able to glam my titan to titan minion look. But all we got was 3 reskined carbys

This is what the people wanted, the developers made a cheap ass excuse for not giving new egies, and well..those minions look hokey.

After they said no new egis I've been waiting for dancer to drop SMN once and for all. SMN is a pet job and supposed to be about the pets..glamour pets is better than nothing I'll admit but it doesn't fix much :(

This is pretty much what I was expecting the first iteration of glamours to be. The Carbuncles are the easiest to do because they are mostly already done. The models are already in the game, most of the attack animations are already in place. Given that implementing this has apparently been kind of a nightmare for them (speculation based on how long it's been delayed) it doesn't surprise me at all that they went for the low-hanging fruit first.

For exactly the same reason, I'm not surprised that it's implemented by way of text commands, rather than a spiffy windowed interface. While there's no way for any of us to know the details, it's evident to me that implementing these glamours was much more of a headache than SE was expecting!

I'm confident that the glamours we're really after will be available sometime down the road. Maybe we'll even get a better interface. But for the first iteration of glamours, yeah, this is about what I was expecting to see.

The good news is we can use every Carby glam on every Egi so no restriction regarding yellow and Titan etc etc

I was guessing Arcanist/summoner quests NPC will have quests, like: "how to teach your egi to change form" or so lol

Defending a (potential) system of text commands in favour of yet another sub-level of the interface isn't white knighting, it's just prioritizing things differently. SE is implementing what SMNs / SCHs have finally been complaining about, and doing so in a way that anyone can access. It might not be the shiniest or most obvious system, but it's good enough (and I'm positive that SE can create some sort of quest similar to the emote ones from the early game showing people what the commands are).

White knighting would be defending something like the god-awful implementation of housing, which continues to deprive large numbers of users (especially on crowded servers) of the opportunity to buy and improve a plot of land.
