Promised overhaul of HQ results postponed to 1.21: Chances to have it by 1.20a?

Hello, adventurers.

I'd like to direct this message to the community reps, if they could forward it to Yoshida-san.

HQ synthesis results don't seem to be a subject of much interest; however, I've been trying to study and learn more of it since the beginning of my crafting adventures. Here're some of my analyses:

First one (05/30/2011, big analysis, two long blog posts)

Second one (08/16/2011, requesting for a system that rewards for your efforts, related to a third blog post)


I've obtained HQ items without any apparent reason (last example: 11/07/2011, Mythril Gig +1 with 16 Quality) and didn't obtain a HQ when I used all HQ materials (last example, before I decided to stop losing my time with a random system, waiting for the changes of 1.20: 10/30/2011, Crabshell Hora NQ with all HQ materials used), something that happened way too many times.
I've thousands of photos in my folder “Unexplainable Synthesis Results” and I could talk for hours about all the test I did, be it with lunar phases or with stats-specific gear (I've 3 crafting sets), but the diagnosis is simple: It's all too random.

So, as that in my opinion is clearly not a rewarding system, and for the limited time I spend in Eorzea, you may imagine how relieved I was when I read this post by Yoshida-san, back in August, a few days after my direct request.

Particularly he promised to release by 1.20:

However, with much surprise, today in the latest Letter from the Producer I read this:

“Changes to synthesis with all HQ ingredients”

...Planned for 1.21... That is, in February, according to the roadmap.


As much as I crave for the new storyline and Seventh Umbral Era quests in 1.20, that change to HQ results was the thing I was awaiting for the most. I could talk again and again about all those countless NQ equips I created using hard-earned HQ materials, but I think those 2 analysis posts above explain what I'm talking about.


Therefore, my request is:

Would it be possible to implement this feature by a 1.20a patch, like a Xmas present for all those crafters like me, who, even if they don't stay too much in Eorzea, put so much efforts in obtaining the HQ materials and hardly ever were rewarded?
Since I was positive Yoshi-P would have kept his word by 1.20, I had already prepared many HQ materials, and after reaching Pugilist 40 I was planning to stop my battle classes until 1.20, so that I could finally create some well deserved HQ equip if I took my time to gather the HQ materials.

I know there're other priorities, like player and market search, but since the promised change was postponed (actually, split in two: groundwork, that is “Merging of HQ tiers”, in 1.20 and real deal in 1.21) I would like to request it back at least for a 1.20a release.

Reading the whole letter it seems like everything has already been decided, but since it's something I was really waiting for, I thought it was worth a shot to make another direct request.

well with alot of people sitting on all 50's with the lol easy mode yoshi is putting in the game of course they are waiting on being able to do so. i'll finish capping off my last class either tomorrow or saturday at the latest and had been counting on that as my new content to keep me going for the next few months.

it's not a shock yoshi wants to bill people when they can't even make their own deadlines.

yeah i am sure people that love to troll others personally without having anything to add to the discussion, like you just did, would love that.

i'm also not saying the amount of sp gained didn't need to be raised some. i just think going from 1-50 in a single day is extreme. it's even more so when you can have 2 active people and the rest never leave their chocobo or do one single attack and still make it to 50 in a day.

I can say I'm slightly depressed about this as well, as I was looking forward to crafting (with the fixes) as my time filler till 1.21
Oh well, I'll just go play something else for my filler time.

I really don't think it matters that much, its not like we have a lot to do in the game, Ifrit and Moogles will be it, if you think you need HQ and 2 slotted materia in every armour slot for that then well you have far too much time on your hands.

That is exactly the point OP is making...they want this so they have MORE to do...who cares if they have too much time on their hands...players should do want they want to do...if he wants two slotted HQ everything that is his perogative.

But yes I know what his point was, and my point is.. there are other games to play in the mean time, other activities to fill that time up with.

Just because the game is available for us to play doesn't mean we have to play it everyday.

As others have said though things get pushed back and delays happen, nothing can be done about it.

I really don't understand how can a player request something like that. If SE -could- implement [name whatever you want] before [name the date you want] then it would be done. Especially now since they will start charging soon, they are doing their best to release as much of content as quickly as possible, so players pay and stay on XIV 1.x.

Making threads like this one on the forum won't speed up the process.

As for the roadmap, 1.19 was late, 1.20 will be late, everything will be late, just get used to it now rather than hoping for stuff to be released on time. I really understand SE sometime for the lack of communication, not giving too much details and not giving out dates, because when they do, these kind of threads happen. "You promised us [this] therefore we must have it."

That's also true for a lot of things and not only games, but yeah, most of people have a hard time understanding that in here.

I don't understand why here a “Request/Feedback Topic” is often confused with a “Complaint Topic”. Hopefully the community reps understood my point.

As I said, that was the feature I was waiting for the most in 1.20 and – as far as I know – yesterday was the first time Yoshida talked about it being postponed, after more than once he confirmed it for 1.20. So I learned it out of the blue.

Therefore, I find it legit to ask if there's a possibility to have it at least for 1.20a, being a change I've been waiting for months.
If they'd list the “Legendary Golden Sugligar” as one of the new equipments and then it gets delayed just a couple of weeks before the new patch, at least I'd want to inquire and ask for a “a” release, you bet!

I don't care about having a “2 slotted Materia”, I've even yet to try the Forbidden Materia Craft and having more than one Materia to a single equipment is something I'll think about at level 50. As I said in the first post, being an adventurer who doesn't spend much time in Eorzea (the time spend to write is time I don't spend in Eorzea, but it's OK, as I believe Yoshi-P actually hears feedbacks, although he can't listen to all of them), I would like my efforts (of gathering the +3 materials, in this case) rewarded; for this reason, that was the feature I was waiting for the most in 1.20.

Also, I'm not interested in “playing other games in the meantime”. :D It's not like: “No feature in 1.20, I won't go in Eorzea until 1.21.”, I never said that. Eorzea gives me exactly what I need.
Yes, I'll have to change my plans, as I had stopped leveling Marauder and Gladiator at level 35, and Pugilist as soon as I would have reached level 40, to wait for that feature in 1.20 and finally create HQ gear with my hard-earned +3 materials, but that's it. Dalamud won't fall for this. :D

Lastly, we all know about the real complaints and I'm reading them right now elsewhere about the “delay” (what delay?) of patch 1.20. As I read a lot of those stuff, about delays or contents postponed, this time I wanted to inquire by myself, no aggroing or complaining, but requesting a possibility to have this feature I've been waiting for months in a 1.20a patch.

The point of a feedback is to let your voice be heard. Who cares if there's a 0,1% chance they might consider it or “change their plans just for a bunch of adventurers”? If it won't happen I'll live with it and keep on enjoying my time in Eorzea, but at least I could say I tried. ;)
