Heavensward Job Appreciation Thread

If you took up a heavensward job, and use it frequently, this thread is for you. Why did you pick your job, and what was your reasoning for picking it over the standard jobs in A Realm Reborn? Do you think you'll use it for Stormblood? Or are you going to switch to something else for 4.0? Note: This is not a complaint thread. This is strictly a thread for fans, and users of 3.0s jobs.

Dark Knight: Very good at what it does, which is deal damage as a tank, and also much easier to hold aggro with compared to Warrior/Paladin I find, especially in lower level content. Will I take it into Stormblood? Certainly, however it won't be my main.

Machinist, it was a fun gun class to play and I like the turrents so yea ill eventually lvl it in storm blood as well.

Astrologian. It gets a lot of flak, but I think the end result became my favorite healer. I've leveled all magic classes to 60, and of all the current healers, White Mage, and Scholar just don't feel as right as Astrologian does for me. Diurnal stance lets me cast regens that a white mage can't, and time dilation can make a chosen party member immortal-like. There's also the high healing Nocturnal stance, which has amazing defense shields. It gets even better if you manage to draw a bole card. I love this class, and I am likely to use it as my main, though Red Mage is reminding me a lot of it, and just might be my alt in 4.0. Tldr: Id probably had quit the game if not for Astrologian. :)

Most of my time in FFXI I was a DRK and was sad when I joined and couldn't be a DRK. Jumped on it as soon as it dropped. While I grew accustomed to PLD and never left it as my main, my DRK is geared and leveled and I drive it around for fun like driving my first car again.

Astrologian and even thought it's not my main (I'm still a warrior), I like the fact that I can be a shield based healer without using pets (I was a scholar in ARR, but I don't like the total lack of customization of the pets AND how they're so clunky to maneuver).
That and I have a fond likeness for the tarot cards.

Now I just wish that healers don't have to dps and I'll probably make it my main. Until then, tanking a go go baby!

DRK. Holds aggro very well. Good damage. Cool moves, and its job storyline was really good. Taking it into 4.0 as my main. Highly doubt they will release a new tank this expansion. I will try RM and level it to 70, but it wont be my main.

Honestly the DPS is extremely simple once you figure it out.

Waited for Dark Knight since 1.0. DPS'd through 2.0, once DRK was revealed as TANK, i dropped my spear and never looked back. It was my main trough 3.0, it will be so again in 4.0. If we get to 10.0 i'll be there as Dark Knight, greatsword in hand.

Astrologian is my favourite job right now, because it's more fun than WHM. I never like playing WHM since I made my WHM to 50 at 2.0.

I like all 3 HW jobs more than the ARR alternatives for each role. Might still favor them in SB, don't know until I try out the new jobs. I feel they keep raising the bar so it will be good to have a lot of nice options.

Leveled both MCH and AST to 60. DRK is at 55 now. I am busy with university at the moment and will pick the job again to 60.
I enjoyed all of them and currently main MCH ^^

I liked DRK story most then MCH. Sorry but I skipped most ASTs sory till level 50.

AST didn't start out too hot, but it quickly became my favorite healing job. I enjoy a more supportive/healing hybrid than WHM offered and SCh wasn't too interesting for me. I love the card buffs and how they work (except for when the RNG is against you many draws in a row). Spread Balance is so satisfying, especially after the card buff.

Did DRK on my alt, but still prefer to WHM on her. I like DRK's mechanics a lot, just not huge on tanking in general anymore. I'm usually pretty relaxed when I play, and I don't set a steamrolling pace when I tank lol.

AST because I hate WHM casting animations and SCH's pet micromanagement. I'd be lying if I said Celestial Opposition and Collective Unconscious didn't draw me to the class either. I live for the moments when I can LB3 and make the whole room a planetarium (really thankful to SE for Astral Stasis!!!!). At any rate, even if I do lower DPS than a scholar, I've had fun exploring the Nocturnal Sect so far during Sophia Ex. More time for DPS, less responsibility than in Diurnal Sect.

Whm has been a smooth ride through ARR and HW. Just enough kick to kick ass and enough juice to to shake loose...srry. Its a good class to start with and healer queues make it that much better.

A scholar who can manage the pet and aetherflow will destroy astrologian in healing and dps. RNG cards just won't cut it.

Astrologian - played it since the day Heavensward came out. Even when it was much less powerful than it is now. Have loved it every minute. Personally, I think a lot of people that play it today ONLY took it up because of all the buffs, but I'm proud that I can say I was an AST lover way back at it's lovely underpowered release.

I was drawn into Heavensward by Astrologian and don't regret that! Its aesthetic is beatiful; I love the whole tarot card thing; and honestly it's just plain fun. I also enjoy that I can swap between raw throughput or shields depending on the encounter. Although I've leveled nearly every job up to 50 or beyond now, Astrologian is definitely my favorite.

AST. I love supporters and the aestetic of the job and it's unique traits and useful abilities like Synergy and the like ♡

(Honestly, I hate it since 3.4 and abandoned it without a second thought, but I still want to apprechiate the joy it brought me in 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3^^)

MCH (its my main DPS, gearing goes PLD->MCH->WHM for me since I got it) I mean come on Guns in a Mideval Fantasy RPG MMO thats main forcus is Magic, I'm so taking I gun to that (just like I love takeing a Sword to a Spacey Shooter game like Destiny)

Also found it more fun than BRD, thou I did lv BRD for retainer & can use it well (feals like I'm casting a symphony due to how nice the oGCD's flow at lv60), but I love Guns way more than Bows... exact opposite of this 1 follower I use in PC Skyrim uh o.O?

Jumped on the Machinist hype train asap. Incredibly fun and rewarding job with a nice amount of rng mixed in, but without the headache! Also leveled DRK eventually, despite my initial misgivings about the play style, but now it's the tank job I enjoy the most, right behind PLD!

oh, woops. Drk is fun :/

Am I missing something here? How come more than 1 person said that Drk is good at holding aggro? It's the worst tank in term of threat management.

IMO Unleash is more spammable than PLD's flash. Also there's Dark Arts + Power Slash.
