As I understand eventually Male Mithra's will eventually be added. Will there be a way at this point to do a race change, or should I just not play the game until then? Don't wanna waste my time if they will eventually be available but no way to change our current characters race.

We are 100% certain that a female mithra will be able to change to a male mithra. if other races can change to a male mithra, we do not yet know.

Well I don't think there are any Mithra in this game, so no, you are not safe. If you mean Male Miqo'te, then yes you are safe =)

On topic. Yoshi has said he sees nothing wrong with changing races. It's gender he's irky about. So I have no idea where you got the "female to male Miqo'te is fine" thing from, but I've heard... exactly the opposite as you did. He asked for our feedback, though. And there are multiple threads in support to having universal freedom come 2.0. -

In the "Official version" they changed it to, he is irky about it, to its ok if you want to change genders, but he then questions, are YOU ok with it?
So im fairly sure the outcry made them change the translation.

EDIT: Also it's not the character listed below, but an alt of mine. Being a roleplayer I made this character as meant to be a Miqo'te male, or at least is supposed to be one. Um, yeah... the boobs aren't there, really! Gowns/Actons ftw? -
