Where did these Features go ?

Greetings everyone,

Before I start my discussion I would like to pray for all the Japanese victims of the earthquake and the tsunami, I hope their disaster will pass quickly..
I have played FFXI for around 5 years, very big and loyal fan of FF, when I logged to FFXIV I have noticed many basic things in FFXI doesn’t exist anymore in XIV and I am sure you are wondering why as well?

These are some of the basic things we could do in FFXI and not in XIV:
-Ability to search for players
-Ability to search Areas
-Player Title when examined
-LS message
-Can’t Kick LS members if the are not close to you(huh?), also I would like to be able to break offline members pearls as well..I think we missed that even in XI? Maybe they added it after I quit I am not sure
-Change city: ability to change region, ex: from LL to Grid etc
-Mailbox delivery
-Map notes (I don’t know about you guys but this was a very useful feature for me in XI)
-Chocobo
-Airship

So why XIV was launched missing these? I mean these features must be the basic of XIV and the rest of it should be built based on these features since these were very valuable and useful to the XI community, I know some of these stuff would come in later patches, so I ask again, Why didn’t they release XIV with these features from day 1?

I don't know all the specifics but if you want a simple answer it is because they rushed the release date. I think many of those things and if you add the really messed up market system that originally launched and wasn’t fixed until December are the reasons that they had to change out many of the developers and the new ones are still trying to fix all the mistakes. We need to wait until around 2012 I think until this game will be complete.

everyone agrees that the release date was rushed, but what i was asking is if these basic stuff were in XI why aren't they in XIV anymore? and some of them are coming in the future?

I mean XI was the base of XIV it has the same atmosphere and jobs/skills so why not these basic features? :/

Taking your money before the end of the fiscal year was more important than offering paying customers a game worth buying.

^ if this was their intention then I'm sure they lost more than what they gained

Wow this topic hasnt been talked to death already, lets move on people.

Basically Jacob the game wasn't finished and ever since release they have been rushing to stop the ship from sinking so they haven't added those features to the game yet.

Well since I gave you the answer you were not looking for, my only other answer I can give you is that this game is not FFXI and I do not think the developers want it to be. Things that were cool and nice about XI just don't seem to exist in this game. I never played XI but I feel like I have since so many people talk about all the time in the game and on these forums.

Thanks David for the replies :) but i dunno i feel like it was the core of FF that should exist in any FF game(for the choco and airship)

anyway lets hope they add them soon !

I am not going to argue with you. We need Cid, Biggs, Wedge, and chocobos. However many of the other things would be nice but who knows if we will get it. Time will tell. Everything right now is a waiting game. The future of FFXIV is undetermined as of right now.
