Please. It's ridiculous when I have to search through my chatlog to find stuff when I see "X slaps Y" twenty times.

Chat filters are your friend in this case. I recommend learning how to organize your chat. For your quick reference though, go to Character Configuration > Log Window Settings > Log Filters (for your desired channel) and uncheck the boxes for Standard Emotes/Custom Emotes as desired.
If you're an RPer and use emotes yourself, then that's on you.
Side note: Wish I could filter messages by players below level 10. RMT in /shout and /say is a pain.
Lol I feel your pain. Limsa is absolute cancer. I'll AFK for 14 hours, come back and my chat log will be spammed right up its ass with rmt gibberish and people spamming emote. Like, these people do know they can turn off emote messages right? RIGHT?????
Sometimes the emote spam is worse than the rmt and then it's those same people who love to complain about the RMT, like whàaaaaaaa?
I'd be more happy with the sound effects of emotes only going off once every 10 seconds. Having to hear a Lalafell spam their laugh over and over and over makes me want to reach through the screen and rip out their windpipe.
I've seen people do emotes with no messages before but I never knew how to turn them off. I don't use a lot of emotes personally anyway but I have some friends that will just sit there and spam chat with emotes when we're all hanging out. >< It gets really annoying sometimes.
Wow holy crap, I never even noticed that. XD
Thank you! Now I guess I can use emotes more often without feeling like I'm getting on peoples nerves!

>saying AFK'ers make the servers lag whilst playing on gilgamesh, the 2nd most packed server, AFK'ers or not.
you truly want no server lag? go to a dead server. Lmao. There's no difference between going AFK and someone who is actively online 24/7 which there are a lot of.
even on Gilgamesh, I don't really see afk players causing lag, but they DO contribute to us not getting a larger character inventory.

At least that's what I infer from Yoshi's statement that "We have the most data per character. Every 15 seconds we take a backup of every player’s data. This is good for players because if the servers crash there is no rollback. Every 15 seconds we are updating that data. Increasing the inventory also increases the amount of data we send back to the servers to save every 15 seconds. What we could do is extend that time from every 15 seconds to five minutes we can add more data, but what happens then is if the servers crash there is the threat of rolling back player data and players losing some data."
Or maybe thinking that 'more players = more work on the backup system' is flawed logic and unrelated
What was this thread about again? E-mote spam? Oh yeah, but I hate those DRG and WHM skill spammers at the MB even more
I know a few PS4 users who have to afk 10 or so hours because PSN has maintenance at around 5 or 6 pm (although sometimes they do maintenance later like around 9 or 10pm) and if said player doesn't make it online by then, they won't be able to play until the maintenance is over. The maintenance takes hours to finish.
When the game first came online they did have the auto kick. But people found ways around it.
You got this wrong, this limit is based on a static number which is the max number of characters online at the same time on a sever, max active characters per server, not current active characters, this max will be the same with or without afkers.
Afkers only hurt people with very low end PCs on crowded areas, and with queues after big updates, but SE enables autokick for that.
