Orrrrr, you can realize that when you can't do the hardest content in the game you don't deserve the best gear in the game.
I'm not a raider either, but I don't think it would be fair to attempt to hold hardcore players back to my level. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. They choose to, and it requires better gear, which they are rewarded with.
I can't.... is this for real?

Raiding is really the only reason I log in anymore. I found the glamours I liked, so I conquered that endgame. If there's no raiding I have no reason to play anymore. I'll just transition into one of those people that sub for the week a patch releases than leave. Just because us raiders are the 'minority' doesn't mean SE should up and stop adding that content. It's not even a matter of if the content is difficult or not. It's about having something to do at all.
If you want them to remove raiding, than you should suggest replacements. What would you have SE do instead?
Wait....what? NO! Raiding is SO MUCH FUN! No seriously, it is. Sure, it makes me want to pull my hair out and my neighbors probably think I have problems from all the yelling at my TV, but it's literally the most enjoyable thing in the game for me! I used to think I wasn't good enough for it, and raiders used to really intimidate me. But now it's literally what I look forward to ever week.
Besides, they always add in other ways to get the upgrade options at a later patch. Everyone will have the ability to be 270 by the time Stormblood hits. Some of us will have just gotten there faster.
Raiding is fun, challenging and really accessible this tier. Try it!
Or just wait for the next patch that will let you upgrade tomestone gear. They can't offer the same powerful gear in different content unless they make said content just as difficult as the raids themselves. Otherwise the easier stuff will be the go to for gear while raids die.
Is raid gear even required outside of raid content?
I smell a troll.... Is this a troll?
But if you're not raiding, what do you need 'the best gear in the game' for, TC? The only content hard enough to require it is raid content, which you don't find fun, and therefore have no reason to gear up for.
well, troll spotted
You know, this would also include 24-man content as well. Those are raids too.
No. I'm not a raider myself (mostly focus on solo-content). But end-game content that requires incredible amount of teamwork is essential for an MMO. It gives people things to work towards and reasons to interact with other members of the game.
Raids give the best gear in the game to make up for the amount of effort required to get said items.
If you don't want to get into heavy raiding, then you don't get the items. But the joy of this game is that you don't have to make getting the best iLvl your goal. There are plenty of objectives that take a great deal of time to achieve other than raiding.
Ya, they should remove any semblance of challenge from the game to discourage people from enjoying it.
Just put all the top end gear in the cash shop. 100 bucks a pop.
Troll thread. Move along!
Making less raids (which probably require a lot of testing) could probably free up resources for more story, more original fun-oriented content etc, but the real thing standing in the way of more people seeing how rewarding raiding can be is logistics.
Primarily because of logistics, it is not something you can just try, unfortunately, meaning that regardless of how good it is it still means a considerable asset is going to waste. It shouldn't be a controversial thing to say that overall raid content is a significantly wasted service, as least as far as the Creator is concerned (I would point to Midas Savage as being an explicit waste of money; but apart from Midas Savage I'm just saying rollout and takeup are suboptimal).
A native voice implementation, a restructure of the reward system, and a heavily rewarded raid roulette to increase the raiding population would probably go a long way towards benefiting both the company and the clientele.
Given that the Party Finder reforms in 3.5 seem like they'll be a good push towards that, the situation might change before 4.0 though. Now I just need some more linkshells so I don't have to waste so many on raiding etc.
i260 is overkill even for this content... so why do you feel the need to have i270?
Why taking away something other people clearly enjoy, because you're not trying to do it. We shouldn't drag each other down. (and tbh if raid's not here anymore I'l log in only for my friends... paying 13€ months to chat hurtsn my phone bill already makes me pay for that, thanks :/)
Isolating a player base and not making content for them is not the way to go. Raiding goes hand in hand with MMORPGs, if you don't like raiding then maybe move onto another type of game?
I don't raid, but the problem I have with FFXIV is the way they have been doing gear upgrades as currency grind. Gear upgrades should be in dungeons and hard mode dungeons; then you move onto the raiding and the raiding gear. Much like how it was in Coils in 2.xx, I don't know why they made dungeons and raiding gear almost worthless in 3.xx.
I am just hoping they will be going back to the old way of getting gear for 4.0.
Getting rid of raiding is not a way to go, it's just like if you shouted to remove PVP from the game. Sure I don't raid or PVP here(better PVP games XD) but you cannot not have those aspects in this game.
Also remove crafting, since it's a lot of work and you can't get a lot of expensive items otherwise! People deserve to get everything as drops from low level mobs outside of the cities!
I'm going to play euh...troll's advocate here...
If he's not raiding, what's wrong with having a gear progression for non-raiders?
Can't they progress their character because they don't raid?
also remove all other race other than lalafell
This is a troll thread. Stop replying to let it die. This bad suggestion does not deserve attention.
Blizzard managed to add another way of obtaining gear that is on par with raid gear through keystone dungeons in Legion. Personally i enjoyed them alot more than the current tier of raiding and higher keystones are no means easy (lvl 10 and up)
I understand where OP is coming from with having more options but then the optional way of getting gear should not be any easier than the hardest raid content in the game at the time.
I think... (I hope) he means horizontal progression.
raiding is probably the only time it ever feels like you need to coordinate your efforts (i.e., communicate). In DF dungeons, there MIGHT be a hello at the beginning and a thank you at the end, but that's it. it's otherwise mind numbingly quiet.
Not a raider myself but I'm against discontinuing types of content.
More endgame options would be nice but raids should still exist for those that enjoy them.
No, raid gear isn't needed for anything outside raid content. All story content and optional side content - outside of the 8-man and alliance raids, and EX Primals from the current patch cycle - can be completed in story gear. Players who do not raid, or do not want to, are absolutely NOT forced to raid because the gear is unnecessary for their continued play.
Players that enjoy raiding, need raid content to keep the game interesting for them - and supply the gear they need to progress through the raids.
Two sides of the same community, we need both.
Shhhh.... don't give them any ideas like that....
