So, I found out today that my house has been demolished, despite having played only 5 days ago, at which point I was within my 45 day limit. I inquired as to why this happened, and got a simple "You didn't enter your estate In 45 days", to which I have this to say: Just to make sure I understand this correctly, despite the fact that I have played before my 45 day window is up, and the fact that multiple other people that I share my house with have gone into and out of the estate on a near daily basis, the house still got demolished because I hadn't entered it in 45 days? Even though I was logged into the game, and had been playing, within that 45 day time period? So because of some idiotic "You have to set foot in your house" rule, my wife and I lost our estate, one that we share with our FC members as well. So because of this absolutely retarded rule, I had to console my real life wife earlier today because the house we bought together after we got married in your game; a house she had spent many hours, and quite a lot of gil on to decorate and make our home, got destroyed because I hadn't entered it in 45 days, even though I was ONLINE and PLAYING THE GAME. I do hope that everyone at Square Enix feels proud of themselves for hurting my wife. While I'm sure it doesn't matter much to anyone there, but my wife and I will be canceling our subscription, and we'll be sure to inform anyone thinking about playing FFXIV, that they should look elsewhere, perhaps somewhere with a company and devs that actually care about their customers.

They should scrap the demolition system. Remember when yoshi said those systems were a thing of the past and ffxiv would NOT have anything like it.

Someone who wants the house can now use it. You no longer need to worry about it, it's not big loss for yourself, as someone who didn't use it.

I have had a house demo'd (because I wanted it to be) you get email after email after email telling you its gonna happen and how to prevent it. SE gives you plenty of warning and tells you how to halt the demo. Also this is widely talked about by people who have had this same issue.
It's a good system when housing is so limited. It could be improved but still not game breaking. This is not a SE issue, this is a failed to read the 10 emails SE sent issue. -

Don't forget to talk to the Caretaker NPC so you can get back the 80% of the house cost as well as all items that can be salvaged! You only have 35 days to do this!

Agreed this wasn't an SE error this was human error. If he knew he wouldn't enter frequently he should have let his wife buy/own the house so she could maintain it. Obviously that would have kept the issue at bay and she would not have gotten upset. Owning a house in the game is a respocibility to the land and your tenants to maintain and follow the rules.

Just like how Estiniendo became possessed by Eggnog, you and your wife courageously put down the evil dragon and saved Coerthas from everlasting despair. Now you and your wife must find a way to work together to scrape up some gil and scope out a new home. (NOTE: Stormblood expansion is bringing new homes to a new ward in Coerthas, snowy setting overlooking beautiful mountains and Foundation itself. So maybe this is a good thing. You can also retrieve 80% of your gil back from housing vendor.)
A simple guide to buying a house: 1) Craft and sell 5 Scintillant Rings for 1 mil a piece, for a total of 5 mil profit (prices vary on server). 2) Everyday scope out plots on each ward, easy to do at each main city-state. I would suggest Goblet, since it's the least popular. 3) Buy a house.

It sucks for your loss... but on Hyperion, we know single players who own 6-7 houses. Which to many feel its unfair that SE wont simply make it "Per account" basis which would allow your alts to share ownership in the house you already have. So when ppl hoard houses... yea, they may not remember to enter them all.
As you said. YOU havent gone in the house. Its very possible FC members didnt either. Cause they do have FC house right?
Yes it sucks that one has to enter the house and unlike Ultima Online where you just have to have a single house and active account to keep things going. FFXIV isnt that way since housing is so hard to get. They do send emails to people who can help prevent it. Its also in the Timer menu for Estate to keep an eye out. -
