The Future of Glamour 4.0 and Beyond

I think there should just be a general discussion on what people would like to see in 4.0 now that PS3 is getting dropped. This brings potential graphical/performance upgrades which may support some Glamour options that wasn't possible before.

I would personally like to see glamour pieces for neck to get expanded with options for capes, scarfs, mufflers etc to add a bit of layering to your body pieces to help create new looks.

I just want a character customization like PSO2 JP

The ability to put face items (eyepatches, glasses, masks, bandanas, etc.) with head wear like helmets or hats. One suggestion on how is to have face items also to be placed on the earring slot as well.

Glasses with other headgear, yes please! I have used glasses non-stop since I put them on because I like the way they look, but also because I've worn them for so long it looks weird without them, just like people.

Just be happy if shared gear could be glamoured per job.

So my shire custodians armor has one look for my paladin and another look for my warrior for example.

I know it's a pipe dream but I wish they'd improve on how the gear/clothes, and hair as well, moved and flowed. Right now they all look so stiff and stick out funny, especially when you sit or lie down.

Full physics for body model and gear and to get rid of all the clipping, meaning no more stiff clothing!...

Gear is pitifully rigid currently and it looks really bad when sit or lying on a bed or bench!...

With better models and full physics we could get many more options like tiered skirts and the like that would actually move with the wind and body movement but in a more natural way!... :)

I dont know about you guys but this is the kind of detail I want to be able to replicate in FFXIV

Disappointed, for a moment I thought they had stolen and data-mined some files from a future patch!...

The idea sounds (looks) pretty good though, if you mean we could apply several looks to each gear piece and then save the collection in a glamour slot!... :(

I keep hoping that SE will implement a glamour wardrobe (because both of my retainers are full of armor...) that allows us to save multiple glamour sets that we can switch between freely.

Would need a re-work of the glamour system from scratch. Which I think is a good timing with 4.0. They need to create an isolated system for glamour to work on instead of stuffing it as another item attribute. And then the glamour catalog which we players has been asking for too!

And before another smart-arse try to suggest it, THE ITEM SHOULD NOT BE CONSUME/DESTROY/INSERT-RANDOM-WORD-HERE-THAT-MEAN-THE-BLOODY-SAME-THING WHEN WE TRY TO ADD IT INTO THE GLAMOUR CATALOG! Just either auto unlock the item in the catalog upon first obtain or bind the item to player after they add it into the catalog manually. (Like how the system work now when you glamour the item)

A good reason for this? Try to glamour your stage X relic onto say your raid weapon, then have fun working on the same relic from stage 1 again because you consume the stage X relic after you add it onto the glamour catalog.

Honestly I would rather have a re-work of the glamour system to get rid of needing prisms and move to a slot based system like other games. I'm a very visually driven player when it comes to my characters in MMO's and want them to look good from day one . The current system is pretty bad. The fact your boots may require a different kind of prism as your chest piece, and you need several prisms, and several pieces of gear to have several outfits....Awful. I would rather have glamour slots where I slide the piece in the slot and lock it in and have the appearance of that item instead of any and all equipment I ever get unless I de-toggle it.

I'd just be happy if they made it possible to dye more than one color per costume piece. Other MMOs can do it, why can't we? I dunno if it's a PS3 limitation or if the dev team was just lazy when developing the dye system, but we could really have a larger variety of looks if we could manipulate the colors a lot more than we can currently.

haha oh no dont say that , I made a thread about gettin rid of prisms and a good few players are totally against but Im with you 100 percent

I want to see:

Ingame glamour (clothes etc)

- A glamour wardrobe, a feature where all collected items can be stored. This will mean that players will have alot of free spaces in their armoury and retainer.
- The option to equip both a hat and glasses/mask/eye-patch etc.
- Option to dye more then only 1 place on glamour armour.


Character

- More faces, every race could use more faces, for a game that looks good (artstyle wise), it has one of the worst character customization that I have seen in the last 10 years.
- Male characters could use some attention, I want to see more handsome faces, beards, muscle slider for all races and chest hair for those that want them.
- Tattoo"s and piercing.
- Body shape could use some change, hips, real ass.
- Hair needs some change aswell, so far most of the hairstyles have been short, I want to see longer hairstyles. Look at this artstyle:

I have seen this hairstyle show up on alot of FFXIV artstyles. Yet males ingame do not have this option, I want to see this hairstyle introduced (no cash shop please) for the male avatars in 4.0.

This mmorpg is one of the rare ones where it feels like all the player characters are clones of each other, almost all players with (an example) female Mi'qote have the same face. More options means we will see more unique looking avatars and I realy hope SE will do us a solid and add these features in, because this mmorpg realy needs these things, stuff that should have been in the game when it was launched back in (2010) 2013.

PS: While I am optimistic that since we are not getting a new race, this could mean that we will get more character customization, we should not forget that untill now Yoshida has not once mentioned anything about more customization. I want more customization, but I fear the only thing that we will get is the same status quo, more hairstyles, new sitting emote, new pose emote. I hope I am wrong.;)

I know what you mean, and I agree, but also I have to add, credit where it is due; I think hair and clothing move much more fluidly than they used to. So, while there is much work to be done. things have improved...IMHO.

Can I have my belt slot back please? So many otherwise good chest slots are diminished by their ridiculous attached belts/tassets...

Also, more realistic cloth physics when, so longer robes don't appear to be made out of stiff mesh that can hold them away from any contact with our bodies?

Comparing screenshots from 2.x, 3.0, and now... I'm not seeing any difference.
