It seems like every day there is a new thread featuring the "Unable to download patch files" error. Please please please fix this issue SE. I only managed to get my game up and running by transferring files from my other PS4. However, now I'm worried that I will see the all-too familiar "Unable to download patch files" error the next time a big patch is pushed to production (3.5? 4.0?). Please fix this issue SE, I beg of you. Otherwise you are literally losing player after player because you refuse to do anything about this.

For example, why are we not able to resume previously partially-downloaded patches? At least then, even with the "Unable to download patch files" error, you would be able to download all parches after seceral tries. But it seems SE made the poor decision to use an archaic patch downloader that may or may not be fixable at his point.

Have you checked to see if there's been any difference in the file size? I noticed when I first installed the game on my PS4 about a month ago, I'd have frequent interruptions because something's wrong with my ping, but the total size it needed to download was still going down.

One of my friends decided to install 14 on PS3 and had no issues, loved the game and went for Heavensward. Every time it would throw up errors during the patching process for two whole days. He brought it to my place and it did the same thing, however I set up a VPN and had it run through my laptop and routing through a Chicago VPN and it patched right up.
Fast forward three months and he bought a PS4 and decided to do the PS3 to 4 campaign. Guess what?
ERROR'S... the same ones.
Brand new out of the box PS4 and it cannot download the simple patches. So I walked him through on how to set up a VPN on his laptop and lo and behold it patched right up.
I had the issue myself installing HW on my PC... used VPN and poof... issue disappeared. Neither of us have issues accessing the game itself when its patched current and going to the next patch number. We only have issues when going for re/installs.
