Lore For Hiding Weapons?

Is there a lore reason for the ability to hide weapons? Do we just pull swords out of our bodies? I.e. Shura from Blue Exorcist. If so, they should add new optional animations, and make it so we pull them out of our chests. It just makes no sense to me right now.

Gameplay > Lore. It's videogame logic, don't think too hard about it.

No. Not everything needs in-universe explanation, like how there's not a "lore reason" why chocobos appear out of thin air when you whistle instead of actually travelling in realtime to your location, or why you don't have to stable them outside of buildings, or how you can be switching between dozens of different mounts on the fly, or how you can carry a bajillion weapons and tokens and materials in your inventory with out any visible signs, or why basic titanium weapons are better than legendary Zeta Zodiac weapons, or why you now get two sets of gear from completing your 45-50 job quests, or why airsip and boat trips don't take any ingame time, or where minions come from when you summon them, or or or....

A lot of people don't want to have weapons visibly hanging off them 100% of the time, and it's not possible to go weaponless. If it bothers you that much, just pretend you've hung up your weapon on a rack in a side room, or it's hanging off your chocobo around the corner, or something, and then when you unsheathe it you're picking it up off that rack. It's basically the same as chocobos appearing out of thin air.

Not everything is meant to be taken at face value. It's a game. It'd be very boring if - for instance - our characters keeled over and broke their backs if their inventory was filled with items beyond a certain weight limit. It wouldn't make for a very fun game. As far as the hiding weapons option is concerned it's purely a cosmetic convenience.

Complicated words? What's shown there is no more difficult than standard high school reading and early college reading.

It's not something you're meant to take seriously.

What do you mean hiding weapons? Like the graphics option? I kinda assume the graphics options for hiding certain gear for appearances sake would by definition be a case of personal aesthetics overriding reality. Your character isn't really hiding their weapon or helmet, it just looks better that way.

I just have my lesser panda carry them obviously

They store them in Hammerspace, of course! It's the same place we keep all those items that we end up receiving and/or handing over in cutscenes all the other times you don't see them.

Think of it in Tales of the Abyss Logic. But instead of Fonons you have crystal magic. Short explanation is that a character stores fonons in his arm. So in times of close combat, instead of casting magic he can take the fonons stored and whip out a spear. So just entertain the thought of storing all that magic inside yourself and in times of need, schwoop! Axe!

I have always thought that they should add a light effect when that option is activated and we get our weapons out, just like Sora's Keyblade in KH. :p

I figured it was an extension of the glamor system characters use. In universe it is used to change appearances and even building, so being able to mask weapons when not in use seems loke a viable thing to do. Naturally you'll want to see your weapon when it is out, so its toggleable by the user's touch, or a motion.
