Which class has the easiest rotation throughout the MSQ?

Hey guys! Now I know I'm not exactly a new player but I'm considering trying out other classes besides my Summoner/Scholar

I've seen while leveling my main, that sometimes when I play with my FC and we're doing a dungeon run the action is so fast paced that I am unable to both kite the AOE attacks and use my skills at the same time.

I have cerebral palsy and play using only one hand. My question is as follows: What class has the least complicated rotation throughout the whole game? I mean one that doesn't require lots of micromanaging etc. I've heard that WHM is such a class but it is very squishy at low levels. I'd like to try a tank but it can be very hard since tanks are leaders of the group. have to know the layout of the dungeon. know how to pull aggro etc.

I would definitely recommend Warrior if you're curious about venturing into tank land. They're pretty much the easiest tank to play at a base level. They have a very convenient aoe dps hate generator skill and access to Flash from PLD. Their rotations are very straight forward, no positionals and when doing content that involves more than one tank, Warriors can always off tank. I think warrior is the most forgiving when it comes to playing the class for a person with limited mobility etc.

Warrior does have a lot of off global cool down skills, but they're very manageable and some could even be macroed together to make it easier playing with one hand.

A follow up question: What about combos?

Warrior has 2 very straight forward combos. They are run of the mill 1,2, 3 combos, with each combo doing a specific thing.

1. Hate generator combo.
2. Damage mitigation combo/DPS increase combo.

#2 combo shares the firsr two skills, with the 3rd skill being different depending on either applying Damage mitigation or DPSincrease. You can easily fit this combo on one cross hotbar.

#1 combo is only really used while you're Main tanking and once hate is established, it's all #2 until you need to increase your hate.

To some extent it depends on the player but if you're dealing with the challenge of setting things up so you can fully control your character using one hand Black Mage might be a decent option. It obviously still has the same problems of needing to cast and avoid AoEs which melee jobs don't suffer from, but there are a lot fewer skills you'll be using regularly so I can imagine it's quite possible to set it up for one-handed use without needing a lot of clever tricks. I play on a controller so I'm quite conscious of how many different buttons I need to use for each job and BLM is one of the more manageable with its relatively rigid rotation-based play. You will also benefit from having most of your cross-class skills already unlocked since you levelled your SMN/SCH up first (though definitely grab Raging Strikes from Archer when you can).

If you're interested in playing tank, Paladin has the simplest rotations from level 1 to 60, while Warrior is probably the busiest tank at higher levels. If you want to play DDs too, I'd recommend BLM, since the rotation is the simplest and the job allows the least movement anyway. I guess it depends on how you set your action bars and also what you enjoy playing, so try what works for you!

Now, people might crucify me for telling You this, but I'm keeping the fact that you are looking for a class (and want to try tanking) that would be a little more accommodating for playing with one hand. There are a lot of bells and whistles for warrior that can simply be left out if you have a competent healer, making adjusting this class,s play for your comfort very easy. It may make your healer's life job a little more difficult, but they can just suck it up :p

Also, as tank, you set the pace for the dungeon, so no need to feel rushed or overwhelmed.

You also mentioned you were concerned about aoes, well lucky you, tanks can pretty much eat a few aoes if necessary with a few cool downs. Tank privilege, i like to call it! ;)

Thank you for all the advice everyone! Could you perhaps provide me with tips how to set up my action bars? I've seen on videos that people often have bars stacked on top of each other. Is that an optimal arrangement??

Unfortunately I can't help there, I play on PS4. But have you considered using a gaming mouse? I would imagine this would help maximize the utility of your hand.

I play on a gaming mouse and would recommend one to everyone playing this game. The mouse has 12 buttons (1 whole action bar) I can use with my thumb and pressing right side mouse button down changes the thumb buttons to alt buttons. So I can use 2 whole action bars from my mouse alone. I don't know if I would be able to use even more of them if I wanted, since I use the actions on my 3rd bar on my other hand.

I have a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and a Naga. I was thinking of creating macros for the various tank combos but frankly I don't know if that's allowed by SE. I wouldn't wanna be banned so I'd better ask first :)

Until 50 and again at 56, wherein you gain 2nd and 3rd positionals, Dragoon is incredibly simple to level. The tanks are easier still, but Paladin gradually falls under the dps of Warrior and Dark Knight in the majority of open world mob fights and receives its basic dps filler combo only at level 60.

For the UI, I'd recommend just keeping your screen as clean as possible. You can use pop up set-ups via macros, e.g. "/hotbar show 7" - "/hotbar show 10" to quickly switch things out. Unless already used to otherwise, I'd keep your cooldowns, player buffs/debuffs, and target pane close together.

Though difficult to manage perfectly across all jobs, you can even set all your abilities to, say, bars 1-3, and then place just the abilities you need to see on bars 4-6, and swap back and forth between them. Either shuffle the binds for those core skills to the 4-6, or just memorize their positions. If using a controller, the cross-bar already saves a good deal of space, and I'd just place the core skills in an easy to see area (with the status effects and target hud), with the actual cross-hotbar to the side.

You can also close your chat panel when not using it for even more space, and downsize all elements to as small as you can still comfortably enough see them.

Don't bother with macros except to allow for better Netflix n' Craft. They only check once per second, so you loose 20% or more attack speed for using them, given the sub-2.5s GCD and a 3-second counter. Even if you get below a 2-second GCD, where the desync would be minimal, they still often mess up.
