Can someone please remind me why we need ANOTHER sword-based tank?
Also, I happily applaud all those people voting for Samurai healer. Kinda hoping someone can explain that one so I can support it too.
Commander samurai. Main weapon is a fan and chair (katana is just decoration). You heal by sitting down on your chair and shouting war commands at your party. Gimmick would be ground aoe buffs based on furinkazan battle standards placed by the samurai. So you'd essentially be putting down 4 flags and trying to sit down on the chair (long cooldown to reposition your chair) for your full strength heals. Has a special resource bar that fills up with katana nerds tears.
Your sword remains in your sheath the entire time, as drawing your sword is strictly outlawed and dishonorable. Instead, you recite haikus, practice your calligraphy, and perform tea ceremonies to heal and buff your party.
I would support something like a Shrine Maiden / Oracle maybe? If we wanna go the Japanese route. Idk a good name for the male.
As for sword...if we get both SAM/RDM one of 'em is going to be a tank...so yet another sword tank.
At least we will get a sword DPS, unless the possible idea of Dancer being a DPS or Tank and RDM the healer?
Anything can go here. But if we DO get a sword tank, next time, they really need to shift gears.
It's not original anymore lol.
I feel like I'd be stoned for this but I actually like the idea of a melee DPS that charges his skills up. If not then perhaps something along the lines of a self buff that is put on you once you start the skill. Every couple of ticks it powers up to the next skill in line that when activated unleashes that skill. Could have traits that unlock higher tiers of charge.
Sam as Tank...
Sam as DPS...
Either way the forums will rage...
Perhaps the only option is to not release samurai? ;P
Sam dps or riot
I would prefer this, have something else instead of samurai because it's hard to imagine how a sword-based eastern theme job would feel significantly different than things we already have. Especially for tank role, I would want something hugely different that doesn't use traditional weapons.

Because we don't even know yet if that will be standing in the backlines casting status buffs, using its sword about as often as a AST inflicts paper-cuts?
I mean, if that's all that's needed is that it wears a sword, then I guess the quota's met either way. If not though, then I make no assumptions, and would rather double-up on a theme I happen to really like anyways (sword-wielding dps).
I don't see an issue with that.
