So with the new expansion we all know there's going to be a new AF type set (2.0 mythology, 3.0 esoterics) and it will be job specific.
But jobs are starting to become more interchangeable now, E.G. I play PLD and DRK depending on what the situation calls for. And this works because PLD and DRK share gear except the weapon (I did relic for PLD and shire for DRK) so they remain equally geared.
The only time this doesn't work is when the best non-raid gear is unique and bought with a capped tome. In 3.0 I had to choose between PLD and DRK and leave the other in the dirt until lore gear came. So please, in the next expansion, swap this formula around and make the unique sets bought with the uncapped tome and the capped tome be a shared set so we can keep our jobs equally geared.

It should be like 2.0, where you have a leveling low item level version and a tomestone higher ilvl version.
The class quests in heavensward felt very underwhelming due to there being no gear in them. -

I don;t think they were supposed to continue that in expanions (and I think its related to why AST, DRK and MCH didn't have equivalent gear from Level 50, and while I don;t think Stormblood's Jobs will have any level 50/60 AF gear and Relic weapons)Quote:

I must also say, this should be the case. I play mostly DRK and WAR. And I do so because I love DRK, but my static needs WAR for progression and clearing certain fights still (looking at you Alexander Prime). So to do the first raiding tier of 4.0 as WAR or DRK and only as WAR or DRK, or spend twice as long getting gear for both is just a pain in the arse.

The ilevel of said gear would be equal to the entry level for the 3 toughest dungeosn, meaning that all a playter would need are assessories to be able to access all the dungeons. Heavensward's AF2 Gear in comparison is i200-210, that means the gear is at the entry level for the current entry dungeons, not the 3.5 ones. And also that means they can go only as far as Sohr Khai and Hullbreaker HM without the respective accessories. The Job quests giving out Tome gear (and the MSQ giving the higher ilevel versions) is the final trend that we don't know if the devs are gonna uphold or break. -

During HW's era, that was likely either doing their own thing when they had no real plan regarding AF, or an attempt to break from what it was in ARR. With that said, it stands to reason that it's not set in stone on how they plan to do it. We might see it go back to ARR style, stay HW-like, or be something different not found in either eras.Quote:
