Removal of tier based actions.

Is it just laziness or is there a very specific reason as to why your Destroying the only wow factor mages ever see. Fire (looks cool) Fira (Wow Awsome) Firaja (who's your dady) Firaga (Holy F**ken @#$% Im a Bad ^$#)

That's why i play mages for tier based magic, the reward of learning and earning that awsome uber spell. its bad enough that all elemental spells look like gumballs and now your just going to scrap tier based magic of the boots of FF history? its either pure laziness in the arts department or maybe you've found away to do away with tier based magic and keep that awesome spell effects(though i highly doubt that).

and before people come and tell me in droves how stupid a tier based system is or how they're to lazy to swap skills or how its to many skills on a bar. they should know that all it takes is two buttons and some basic knowledge on macros to change a skill on the go.

It's still tier-based, only you don't see the number. Tiered nukes currently share the same recast timer, so it's a moot point. The only thing that's tricky is Cure. No clue what they'll do.

Jobs will have their own exclusive abilities. The class balancing they're doing is in preparation for 1.21 and jobs.

Firaga comes before Firaja. -ra, -ga, -ja

Honestly this is one of the smarted decisions yoshi has made.

Think about it, let's say a Thm has Fire 3 and the Blm has exclusive rights to Fire 4, what would happen when level cap raises? How will they give Thm a stronger fire spell at say 65 when Blm has exclusive rights to a weaker spell from a lower level? How will the Blm stand out from thm?

The way he has done it is awesome. Let's say Thm has a scalable Ice spell, then Blm can have a scalable Freeze spell, now when level cap is increased spells will retain their balance cause freeze will always be stronger than ice and black mage will always stand out from thm.

Maybe they'll just change the animation as you level up.

you completely screwed your own example given off your argument btw.

if you want to use the first example with the new system thm would have the capped fire spell.....oh and blm would as well. you used tiered magic in both cases in your argument.

if you want to stick to your second example it would be no different than thm having the tiered fire spells and the blm having tiered flare ancient magics.

you intentionally gave one example of a tiered spell using the next tier in one example and then a tiered spell compared to an ancient magic in the other. try to compare apples to apples next time, please.

How do you know they won't be adding bigger badder more badass animations for the spells. Invisible tier of spells can change with multiple animations depending on your lvl. I hope this is what they are implementing.

Let me explain..

Lets say Thm obtains a non scalable fire III spell at level 45, and black mage recieves a higher tiered exclusive non scalable Fire IV spell at 50, right.. ok. Now what would happen when the level cap is raised to 65? Thm would have to get another fire spell right? So thm gets a non scalabel level 60 fire V spell, now the problem is that, that level 60 fire V spell is more potent than the level 50 exclusive blm fire IV spell.

Yoshida said that Jobs are more defined in role, so Black Mage needs to be more Nuking oriented than Thm. The problem with the above example is that Thm and Blm become similar once the lv cap raises, and players will not have an incentive to be a BLM.

Now if Yoshida has a scalable Fire spell on Thm, and a scalable Flare spell on Blm, it would keep Black mage in its defined role when level cap is risen. At 65 Thm will still have the scalable Fire spell, as well as Blm having the scalable Flare spell. No matter the level, the scalable Flare will always be more powerful than Fire.

So scalable spells are awesome. As a BLM you can have both Fire and Flare to help with hate control, just use fire inbetween flare casts.

The moral of the story is scalable spells is the best fit to keep Jobs defined from classes, if not scalable, then there would be outdated Blm spells that would become weaker than the Thm spells (in 1st example) when cap is raised.

maybe we can stop speculating until we see what the changes entail......yeah right, like that'llever happen here at troll central...

I'm imagining multiple Cure-style spells (Curaga, Regen, Heal, Restore) available to Conjurers, with another one or two available to White Mages only to give them a little bit of pizzazz.

In orginal FF Firaga comes before Firaja, its Fire > Fira > Firaga > Firaja

as do i but they've already proven there staleness and obvious care or lack of skill in animation development. most battle skill animations in XIV are a disgrace to the franchise name. there are only one or two beautifully done skills per job the rest use the same palette over and over again.

yes, you are right. as cap increased the one class would eventually get a better spell than the low one for the other. a lvl 50 thm should have a stronger attack than the lvl 30 blm spell. any spell from a r50 class should be stronger than a lower ranked class when you are comparing. even when you use a tier iii fire on thm you could do flare on blm. flare would be stronger than fire, but you would get them at the same rank. yes, when you got fire iv it would possibly be stronger than flare, but at that same rank they could get flare ii. flare ii would be stronger than fire iv just like flare was stronger than fire.

even though flare would be stronger than fire (even using the tiered system) there would be situations you wouldn't want to use he stronger spell due to enimity or mp consumption.

anyways, like i stated, i was going to wait on the list to make my decision, but i did have to point out the glaring flaw in your argument because you have definitely not looked at both the positives or negatives for what you are promoting.
