Light Strike and Pummel MP

Why do these actions still require MP? I thought they took out the mp cost of most abilities unless they has some kind of elemental or magical effect on them. Its really annoying that if im in a party for a while i have to be like "Hey guys i have to sit out a couple fights, i cant punch cuz my MP is gone."

I can understand it for things like red lotus or something that has an elemental effect... but ligth strike and pummel arent exactly magical in any way....

well they gave featherfoot the ability to regen mp to cater for this, but i still agree that it doesn't make sense.

it doesn't make sense..for now. For as much we know, can be related to future changes to monk.

Meh, FFII barely gives any MP, and you have to be tanking for it to work, or you need to taunt.

Still, we're left here wondering why these abilities (normal f'n attacks..) require mp.. It's bad enough that Pugilist is one of the worst DDs in the game, 2nd only to Gladiator. This just adds insult to injury. And we've still to hear a word about the reasoning behind this decision.

Seriously SE, remove the mp cost already. It's freakin ridiculous. And while you're at it, remove the CD from Victimize II, as it's our only good WS. Increasing Aura Pulse damage would be nice too..

Like others have said, I could understand if PUG had any lore/reason for using magic, if even slightly, but there is none of that. If they decide to keep the MP cost I hope they explain how PUGs rely on magic (even if in a limited role) to help them.

Personally, based on their money-grubbing ways, I think it would be cooler if abilities used gil rather than mp (thinking Setzer from FFVI- coin toss anyone?).

Pgl is a beast when soloing mobs but you're right, in a party, they are not very good. Most of the heavy hitting WS are meant for tanking situations. And some ws like Victimize II for Ifrit fight has horrendously long cooldown, even with Keen Flurry the WS is in a sorry state.

People just need to be more positive and forget old classes system made by Tanaka. it's Yoshida's Class system on for the first time :)

Well, i see no positive aspect in "Yoshida's class system"...it's more like a morbid curiosity what makes me see this new system...but i'm pretty sure it will fail terribly. People think it's awesome, ignoring the fact we will have like 3-4 actions cross-class-able per class and the job actions won't be there for another month or so...

Also, i'm pretty sure all basic attacks are going to be removed (some seems to be listed as retaliation WSs) so now the weapon delay will start having some important impact at classes' performance...

I do am VERY afraid of this patch...1.19 brought some big changes and was completely flawed...so much they seems to be rolling back a big beef of 1.19...and 1.20 is bringing even bigger changes...so the odds are not even close to be pointing to a "positive" direction.

IMO the key aspect of these changes might be exactly hat they didn't show...the traits. They might be their wildcard in this new system...but how would we know if we always receive only partial info? Maybe because even them don't know what will be of FFXIV...2.0 concept art had basic attacks and higher tier actions at action bar...so this "new class system" probably was created in a rush after 2.0 announcement.

The only positive thing i can think is that they decided to make a brand new class system so the original FFXIV could use its own class/battle system on its spin-off return! /o/ I would SO gladly buy the original FFXIV again and stop picking on Yoshida if/when this happens...

Is there really a point to this thread since these skills won't exist after 1.20 ?
