So I just watched that one hour or so of cutscenes at the end of the ARR storyline. Pretty good stuff in my humble opinion, well directed and decently voice acted.
Too bad I can't sit back and immerse myself in the storyline because I have to click on those textboxes after EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF DIALOGUE. If I as much as want to drink some water from the glass next to me, I have to endure this awkward silence that toally disrupts the flow of the scene because my hand happened to be occupied.
Now, I don't mind this feature in voiceless cutscenes, since that means you read the text at your own pace, but when you already have the voices reading said texts out loud for you, why do I STILL have to set the pace for every single piece of dialogue?
In what world is this considered good game design? AT LEAST give us an option to toggle auto-subtitles on and off instead of forcing you to do static clicking for a whole HOUR when watching a cutscene.

Actually no I think it should be an option. I don't mind clicking the button every time myself, but I'd prefer it if it went along on its own as an option. When in a voice acted cutscene, I go at the pace of the voice acting. So it'd be easier for me to do that. I also believe that if it isn't already an option, add an option to turn off the voice acting completely for those who best understand by reading and would find the voices distracting to their intake of the story.

This doesn't bother me at all but an option for autoplay sounds reasonable to me. I listen to JP audio since I find the quality superior so I actually have to read voiced scenes anyways.

I'd also like that, or at least an option to let me progress voiced cutscenes with the text box hidden... but personally something more similar to how the voiced 1.0 cutscenes played out (sans the super graphics).
Also, SE, please stop with the multiple close-ups to faces changing expressions. It's really jarring. Just have the camera positioned that shows everyone reacting.
Maybe that could be possible now that the PS3 will no longer be supported after 4.0's release? (again, not the graphics, but how the 1.0 cutscenes played out) -

I can get behind having an option to toggle pauses on and off. OP just came off a bit weird to me but I understand where you're coming from. So long as there's an option for both types of players I'm on board.

I"ve played many visual novel styped games where there was a button that you could press that toggles auto progression of the dialog boxes based on the voices.
And many had options as to how much of a delay there was between the voices ending and the dialog progressing.
I would actually like this feature here as well...
As there's been times where I thought the dialog had ended, but there was just a pause and I ended up skipping some of the voice due to pressing too early. -

This would be an excellent option. I just finished watching the cutscenes at the end of "A Realm Reborn" and there was a lot of clicking to advance the scene.
Make autoplay an option and have the Space Bar stop and start the movie. -

I'm sure this feature was added on 3.5. Pressing triangle if you play PS3 or PS4 during a cutscene, or pressing space bar (I think). But I'm not sure how disable it. I guess the same buttons.
