Amazing. Can't wait.
Dancer is still a possible class? I see what you did there, SE :> So pumped up now, it's unreal. With the PS3 finally being axed, my hopes for 4.0 are a whole new level of rekindled.
Just like how Dragoon was the flavor job for Heavensward, this time it'll be the monk's turn to shine. Looking forward to how overtuned they'll become.
Rad trailer but honestly dancer look like a monk, i cannot see any particular difference between the 2 class
What's the chances that pug = monk AND dancer?
She looks like dancer but fights like a Monk. Colour me confused.
He said thats monk guys, not dancer. Lol
After the trailer, paraphasing-he said that like Heavensward with Dragoon, Stormblood will be clearly about the monk.
Nothing yet stating that she's a dancer... at best the most we can assume atm is that they were both sparring Monks.
I wonder if they added more facial choices to existing races, the females face looks different than any other Hyur female I've seen.
She doesn't have her scion neck tattoo, it's her sister, Zda.
That trailer was awesome. I wonder if that fight scene is a representation of fighting styles from Ala Migho. Monk's style of fighting is Hard style (strong stances, hard punches and kicks) while the girl might be Soft style (like ba gua, tai-chi or wing-chung. Deflecting incoming punches and kicks and countering them with minimum energy). Either way, thanks for the link!
Why am I thinking that whole location is the ruins of the former citadel of the Fists of Rhalgr, now taken over by the Ala Mhigan Resistance/Eorzean Alliance to mount a full scale assault against the Garleans holed up in Ala Mhigo? It would make sense for Derplander to have switched to MNK in any event. ;)
Considering the original Heavensward teaser trailer had little context at the time I'm probably wrong though. :p
Yda?: NOTICE ME!
WoL: NOOO!
Buddy said he teased hints towards Red Mage, Samurai, Dancer but I haven't heard any details pointing towards this... I was kinda hoping he rock a wide brimmed feathered hat lawls
...Well I can't imagine whom else she could be, if not Yda.
She is a new character (unless Yda removes her Tattoo), Yoshida said that character will play a role in 3.5 and we will know who she is. Personaly, I think she will be the link between the WoL and Ala Mhigo, just like how Aymeric was a link to Ishigard. Its common knowledge that Ala Mhigo has been taken. I think this female Monk will come to the WoL and the GC Alliance and ask for help, will result in the player heading there.
SPOILER if you haven't beaten the story up to now.
They're setting so much up for Yda at the end of the latest story arc and we were practically confirming we'd be going to Ala Mhigo. I think that in 3.5 Yda will reveal her true identity as a higher up in Ala Mhigo, because the woman seems to share a lot of characteristics with her. Plus there's Yda's entire thing with always hiding her face which she seems pretty gungho with making sure it stays that way at the moment. Why would she need to hide her face if she was just an every day citizen that had to leave? The woman in the video looked very regal if you ask me! But your guess is as good as mine, only hole I can think of in my story is her tattoo.
Really think this is a dancer. You can see the arm blade on her right hand

If I remember my Monk quests correctly... The order for the Monks originated in Ala Mhigo, so they're most likely going be noteworthy in the story.
Yda also is pretty much inseparable from Papalymo too (who is not seen anywhere in the trailer)... then there's the little fact she's not actually a MNK at all but a PGL (although that could easily be retconned of course). Yda never seemed to move in that way either in all the times she participated in battle in both 1.0 and ARR/HW, so I don't know, I'm not yet willing to believe that is Yda (the aforementioned lack of the Sharalyan/Circle of Knowing tattoo on her neck is the big giveaway).... more likely it's a new character.
I don't know if it's Yda, but reading the quest journal about the 3.4 quest "An Ending to Mark a New Beginning"...
Gundobald, the old guy at Little Ala Mhigo who recognized Yda talked about her parents, how he fought with them against the Garleans, and how Yda used to be a part of the resistance group trying to take Ala Mhigo back...
Maybe the two in the trailer were Yda's parents?
At first I considered she was a new one, then something began to confuse me. From 3.4 we can see Yda and Papalymo have important roles in the story of Ala Migho, however, this story would not be ready until 4.0.
Then come the 4.0 trailer, in which a blonde, Monk-like girl plays a main role. I just can't get the purpose why they design a new character has similar features as an old one. It's quite natural to imagine in a story: if two different characters have such similar features--appearances, jobs, backgrounds--they may probably have a competitive relation with each other.
However in this trailer, the one who fights with the girl is not Yda, but (probably) the Warrior of Light. That's strange to me.
Anyhow, it''s too early to say she MUST BE Yda yet. I just can't clear that possibility out of my mind...
No tattoo and her tits are bigger, it's not Yda m8.
Also, if this Trailer is supposed to take place in Ala Mhigo, there's a rather big lack of Garlean troops holding the place...
So it's probably set in the past, before the place was taken over.
The trailer showed the WoL (its him) and a new character or a old that we will find out about in 3.5. The location that you saw with the hand is called Rhalgar Breach (the name might be wrong) this is the Ala Mhigan Resistance main zone, their HQ is here aswell. So I one can understand why there are no Garlean forces stationed there.
I'll counter point out that gladiator's used daggers up until rogue/ninja release where all daggers they had were remade into swords in both name and appearance.
Not only that but, monks themselves are supposed to deal blunt damage. Meaning all the bladed type weapons they kept churning out for monks are inherently wrong... something they realized when the playerbase consistently pointed this out to them. Hence they've been moving away from such things and most new monk weapons are largely actual blunt fist weapons. (Something I've been immensely thankful for)
Anyways, this whole monk vs dancer debate is really starting to seem awfully similar to the ACN/SMN/SCH debate back in beta lol.
