Not much going on on my server barely any FC's over 30 members, any ideas?
well there's a couple of options and since I am not sure what you're looking for I am going to name all of them.
Balmung (I know I am going to get stoned for this one, but very active server especially when it comes to ERP)
Gilgamesh (very active pf wise, fc wise, a good server if raiding is something you enjoy)
Leviathan (we do have active fc's and pf's, however it's mostly casual/laid back now - compared to 2x)
There's a couple of other ones, but I have not experienced any of them since I don't wanna make more alts :) Take a look at the sub forums for the other servers or create some alts and get in touch with people before transfering.
Midgardsormr has several long-running FCs here that are active. However, a lot of ppl are come and go, or have quit alltogether. Kinda how it is on servers that aren't Balmung.
left ultros for gilg and haven been pretty happy with that decision.
I've bounced between Diabolos, Ultros, Leviathan, and Balmung. Honestly after a few month they all feel the same to me, some of the higher populated servers may seem crowded, but the amount of player to player interaction feels about the same.
As far as FC goes every large size FC will always have clickes which divide the population to smaller groups that don't interact with each other. Small size FC tends to be more personal, but most of them don't have more than 10 members active in contents and member interaction. One thing that always happen though, is drama. I have yet to be in an FC that has no drama, and out of the 5 FCs I've been in, 2 Large size FC got destroyed by drama and split into several small size FC, 2 small size FC that got destroyed by drama and members joined other FC, and 1 Large size FC I left after 1 week, I tried to say hi to people, invite them to contents, but in the end finally figured out they are dysfunctional. If your FC has no drama, consider yourself lucky.
The only thing that should influence your decision in the end is probably the economy. That's the only constant. Create a few alts on servers you are interested in and see what things sell for, and how fast they sell.
I want more people to come TO Diabolos. A bunch of my first friends on the game left for Baalmung. D:
I have an FC with a house and airships you can join guys, we have a whopping 3 active members! ;-_-
If you're looking to move, the best option imo is to scout with alts, which are free. Some FCs are a bit xenophobic and don't warm up to newcomers quickly, so this allows you to pick out a couple options ahead of time.
BALMUNG! Best place for cheap materia and items for raiding. But expensive glamours cause RP!!!
The sever is always full of people and we get no gold sellers really cause nobody can create a character there.
STOP MOVING TO BALMUNG.
D:
ALL HAIL BALMUNG!
I really wish separate servers weren't a thing at this point and there was just a big mega server. People will just keep going to the populated servers because the advanatges to playing on a populated server vastly out way the advantages playing on a dead one. There are too many servers in this game. We do not need this many servers.
Well I understand why people want to try Balmung since it's so populated. I really hope the cross-server party finder to be a thing. That might even be the beginning of a megaserver update for 4.0, making the game more like WoW or GW2 on that aspect, which is awesome. With that, being on Balmung wouldn't mean much, people would still be able to play with their friends and spend time together but the need to be on a very especific server would not be there anymore. That would even solve the housing problem completely.
But oh well, back on topic: I would say for you to create alts and see what you like about each server. A small visit at Limsa, Ul'Dah and the PF to some extent might give you a headsup about what the servers are like. I like Gilga, Balmung, Sarg, Levi, Hyperion, Behe and Faerie if you're on NA. If EU I'd say Odin, Phoenix, Ragna or Zodi.
As long as people are willing to pay to transfer, its highly unlikely we'll ever see that or even server merges. SE wont even do server merges for XI because "not enough of the player base has requested it" but they did cut transfer costs....We'll most likely see a price cut in transfer costs before we see merges or a mega server. SE loses too much money otherwise.
COME 1 COME ALL TO GILGAMESH! WHERE THE SERVER IS ALWAYS OVERCROWDED!
Don't you think it's about time to increase the gil allowed during transfer?
I hate Balmung, only transferred because of a friend.
I liked Gilgamesh, kind of miss it.
Midgardsormr was okay.
Uldah in Balmung is Hell.
I don't see the appeal of Balmung either, though I suppose of you're really IN to that sort of thing. I'd get creeped out honestly, since younger people play this game things can go down south if you know what I mean... ew.
Midgarsomr has sort of started it's on RP theme, though it's no where near the same popularity as Balmung at least it's cleaner... at times. Still our server seems to be struggling with MB as of late and that has me worried.
I like Balmung because it has "Jack of all trades" type of thing but RP is a big thing I suppose.
Theres your raiders, hardcores, casuals, roleplayers and all that stuff...trolls lol.
I love it here and a lot of folks are friendly. I don't delve into the RP heavily myself
but people like what they like if people ERP then they ERP, kinda no ones business...unless
it's in public...then I'ma stop and blink lol. The rpers do make the community feel more alive though!
I mean, yeah, Balmung has a pretty nice community, there's a bit of everything for everyone. I think it'd be a pretty neat feature that could stop people from feeling the need to leave some of the smaller servers but I guess we'll see what happens with that.
This thread just makes me wanna go to Balmung that much harder
The Quicksand is the main RP place the rest of Uldah is pretty much the same as any other server everyone else is usually in Limsa or Idyllshire
Its worth it for the PF alone makes it much easier to get stuff done its probably the most active of any server
People moving to greg is hurting the smaller servers STOP PEOPLE
Funfact I actually caused someone who read my fanfiction to nearly have a heart attack when I joined a linkshell they were in - they assumed I was on Balmung like basically every fanfic writer :v I did consider moving, but I'm way too lazy and I love Moogle.
As far as servers go, Moogle is okay, it's just... overwhelmingly French, up to a point I understand FFXIV French (I'm German and never learned French). It's also rather populated despite all that and there's always plenty PFs fur current content and the clear rates are apparently rather high, but it's an EU server so it might just not be what you're looking for, haha!
Don't come to Balmung, we don't need any more people.
And people who complain about the RPers in Ul'dah are just memeing. It's A. Not as bad as people say, and B. Very easy to avoid. Idyllshire shout chat where the hardcores and non-RPers hang out is usually worse.
I'm on Diabolos and I can agree it's feeling fairly dead, but trying to keep an active FC going these days unless your FC already has many active members is seemingly difficult. I have debated moving myself, but honestly I'd rather see Diabolos repopulate and thrive than for everyone to move out and worsen the situation any further.
Also from Diabolos, HW definitely took its toll on the population. I'm in one of the larger and fairly more active FCs and I've sat and watched so many people quit over the expansion. We used to have 3 raid groups going. Now we have 1 that gets burnt out fairly often. A lot of the longest playing members unsubbed. It's kind of depressing. Definitely not what it used to be. I'm stuck on Diabolos though since I don't wanna give up my house. Good luck OP. I'd wish you stay though cause I really would like to see Diabolos get back to its 2.x numbers.
If anyone with a small casual FC with no house reads this (on Diabolos, obv) and is interested in merging with another that does have housing, hit me up. I see so many FCs with 2/10 people online it's not funny, hahaha.
I was on Balmung since 1.0. I don't RP, couldn't stand how the only people left in between patches were either people who didn't want you in their static or RP players galore. Moved to Gilgamesh and I'm glad I did.
