I would like to thank the development team for a good job so far. I really like this game a lot and it has so much potential. While this game is still being revamped, I really enjoy the solo content compared to that of FFXI. Here are some of the things I really like about Final Fantasy XIV:
1) The beautiful cut scenes and the soloability of quests and mini-quests. There seem to be a lot of complaints about the lack of difficulty, but these quests and mini-quests are helpful to beginners. I am sure there will be more endgame content and separate, more difficult quests for hardcore gamers. Therefore, I would like to ask the hardcore gamers to be patient with the development team.
2) Use of animas for teleportation. This makes soloing much easier, without requiring /shouts for WHMs like in FFXI. It also allows me to explore the world of Eorzea.
3) The good old faithful guildeves, I can always do them when I log on, just like Mr. Yoshida says.
4) I love the Journal system. The next steps are clear and to the point. Unlike FFXI, where you have to go to external websites before you even know what the next step is for many of the quests and missions.
5) Behests are very fun and relaxing.
6) This game is different from FFXI. I don't have to stand for a long time without ever getting an invite before I have to log off. I can enjoy gaining experience points with different classes/jobs more. This is unlike FFXI, where it's hard to get parties if you don't have one of the popular jobs.
Sorry for the recent disasters in Japan. I hope the development team keeps up the great work and I look forward to more in-game contents.

It's fine if you think there's shit wrong with the game, and I don't think many people would argue that there isn't anything wrong(that's why the game is essentially back to beta), but seriously, hating on people for liking stuff was in vogue during the height of boy band popularity.

Currently I'm doing class quests :D
When I'm not ranking up to do class quests, I'm doing local leves to rank up my synthesis jobs, partying with some friends doing leves, or even exploring and getting to gates I haven't been still. And also side-quests now ;P
I know there's a lot missing, and not a lot of content when you've done every quest BUT I love its feeling, I love the community, love the world and graphics, and the potencial it has to be an awesome awesome game. :)
It just needs chocobos to turn everything around XD -

I was a Closed beta tester and the Dev team has really been taking steps in the right direction of the development of this game. Good post OP! I can't wait to see where this game will be in the next 6 months, seeing how far it's come in the first almost 6 months.

I've been playing since launch (with a 2 month break throw in the middle) and I still enjoy the crap out of this game. Ever since I came back I've enjoyed the game a great deal more than at launch. It's a good game now and getting better with every update.
The game definitely isn't for everyone and I think we should all admit that. For those who do enjoy it though, we want to see it grow and succeed. I'll never for the life of me understand the people who dislike/hate the game and come on here and post/troll. If you don't like the game it's clearly not for you, go find something you do like and leave the rest of us alone lol. -

I've been playing since release (and alpha/beta ofc blah blah) and I find the game absolutely boring to death. I barely play now, just login to break clusters for ls members since I'm 50.
Me and my friend will sometimes login and think "Okay what can we do?" and theres nothing, there is absolute no answer to that question that doesnt end up being "Grind?" You cant have friends in class quests, you can barely have a friend in the story (like the last 2 missions let you lol) and I've finished all that. Class quests are boring and quite useless due to what they let you do (buy higher tier guildskills which are thus even more useless). And then theres the god-utter-awful mini-quest which people defend but its a copy/pasted system so theres no excuse.
So I ask people playing, What do you do when you login? For someone new who hasnt had the same routine for 6 months you can say things are nice, but you also cant really speak for the game because you're still in your prime. Its like when you first learn to drive and get a car and you're super excited and want to go on road trips its all thrilling, then after a while you begin to shout at other drivers, rage when you hit a traffic light and wonder why you're paying for it, if only cars were free to use like this game...
You will eventually begin to eat your own arm with this game due to absolute nothing to do later on. Even at the low levels what is there to do? Quest = Killing, Grind = Killing, Guildleves = Killing, and Killing is as boring as watching paint dry. -

You know what I did when I realized that I couldn't stand Aion or didn't like Rift or thought DC Universe Online was a mindless, repetitious experiment in boring? I stopped playing them and moved on to something else. I sure as hell didn't troll their respective forums and take shots at the people who do enjoy them.
I mean, I'm not saying FFXIV doesn't have a lot of issues to work out and, given its design, is also repetitious and in a lot of ways boring, but when I decide that I've had enough, I'll just be on my way.

As usual, constructive critisim overpowers someone just being rude, but you are expected and should know people will not agree with what you do and that some people are blindly confused as to how you think the way you do.
But as I said in my previous post it all comes down to Time. 2 people who genuinely like the concepts and are interested in the game will have absolute different views on it due to how long they've played.
And since you're low level, you've not hit that wall yet, you're still fresh and think things are going fine, but you will eventually undoubtedly turn into the rest of us as you realising your progression is not climbing up, its just walking in a straight constant line.
Those who have played and enjoy the other games get to their rage meter a little quicker due to the rules of comparison. -

Well to answer the question of "What do you do?":
If I'm currently interested in another game (console gamer) or have some class work to do, I'll behest when it comes around and at least make SOME progress.
When I'm sitting down specifically to play FFXIV I can choose to craft, gather or rank up combat. I have plans of getting everything up there eventually so no matter what I feel like I'm making some kind of progress. My LS is fairly active though so there's usually something going on. R40 leve groups come up so I can work on getting my Pugilist up to 50, we have crafting fairs to help people get outfitted properly or get materials they need for various crafts, we're starting to get ready for the few NM fights and subsequent gear that we'll need to make/distribute.
There's a lot to do in the game but if you don't enjoy any of the base systems then it's probably not for you. The game is about to undergo some drastic changes but I don't know if it will change enough to sway people who just don't like it. -

In what MMO is there anything else to do aside from those 3 things? I mean in others it is masked by quests or instances but the goal is all the same. Hit max rank/level and get the best gear. That's about all it comes down to in any MMO in existence.

1.) NM's--Pretty fun battles that require cooperative play and planning to defeat.
2.) Class Quests--At the moment, each job/class gets 3 class quests each as they progress through the ranks. Although some are fairly short, some are fun (rank 20 GLA quest) and do offer some good storyline that also hints at what may come to the world of Eorzea!
3.) Main Quests--Very good main story in FFXIV imo. Much better than what FFXI had to me. I was seriously ranking up faster so that I could get to that next quest and it got better and better. Rank 46 mission was ftw!
4.) Side Quests--There are already quests in the game called "Leve-Quests" but they aren't NPC interaction quests. Thus Side Quests^^
To conclude, many may disagree with me but since I usually rank up with linked up leve runs, I consider that a part of content and progression since they are technically Quests and I enjoy the laughs and social part of the linked-up leve runs. That and the fact that most spells/abilities/traits that you learn from one job can also be used on another job pertaining to that particular Discipline.
