Squadron Chemistry

Thread to keep track of different Chemistry and how/when they obtained them.

Obtained after completing Lvl 20 mission Front line Support.

Nanasomi La/Arch lvl 30 - When accompanying a Roegadyn, there is a 30% chance to receive a Contemporary Warfare: Defense.

Hastaloeya: Roe/Maruader lvl 30 - When accompanying an arcanist, physical ability is increased by 10%

Totodi La/Pug lvl 30 - When accompanying a conjurer, there is a 20% chance to receive Contemporary Warfare: Magicks



Not sure if its just a chance after every mission they do or upon level up. Had 4 people gain 30 after a mission and only 3 got chemistry.

Could it be that you had to send them on a certain amount of missions?

My recruits are level 30 and are being sent out on a level 20 mission today. They'll be 31 before that, though. Hope I unlock some of those soon.

Might be, I'm thinking it might just be a random chance after they comeback from a mission. I'm sending them out on a 25 mission tonight to see if the last person will get a chemistry.

I *think* that each person on a Routine Mission when successfully completing it has a chance to get a chemistry bonus on the next outgoing mission (people who arent used on the next mission lose their chemistry anyway).

Anyone have any idea whether it applies only to the character or to the whole squadron? ie does tactical +15% mean the whole group gets a 15% bonus or just the squad member that has the chemistry?

My squadron just got back from a mission and 3 of them came back with chemistries, but this one caught my attention.

"When accompanying someone of a different race, there is a 20% chance to receive gatherer's scrips." I was surprised to get that one. Doesn't say if it is blue, red or both though, but now my squadron already acts kinda like retainers I suppose :p

I just did a Lv. 20 Mission with a Hastaloeya MRD and 3 CNJ, Cecily, Liliba, and Rivienne, and Hastaloeya learned a chemistry that when he runs with a Rogue, there's a 20% chance to obtain Contemporary warfare : Magicks.

I think it's random chance to get a chemistry after a mission once your Squadron reaches rank 2 (beating the first level 25 mission).

But to list out chemistries, I have no memory of when exactly they got them...
On one character,
Cecily - Hyur - CNJ, When accompanying someone of the same class, physical ability is increased by 10% (such useful on CNJ!)

Mumutano - Lalafell - GLA, When accompanying someone of the same class, physical ability is increased by 15%

Alimahus - Hyur - ROG, When accompanying someone of a different class, mental ability is increased by 10%

Careless Whisper - Roegaryn - ROG, When accompanying someone of the same class, 20% chance to get Contemporary Warfare: Defense.

Sofine - Elezen - ACN, When 3 or more squadron members are the same class, physical ability is increased by 15%.

and I learned something new as well, I have a mission with Roegadyn / Marauder affinity, and since Hastaloeya is both, the chance to get a Warfare:Magick got boosted from 20% to 100% since both affinity condiitions are met.

I have only gotten 1 chemistry.

When accompanying a gladiator all squadron members experience gained increased 10%.

Is there anyway to change current chemistry ?
Some of my team that already got one seems didn't get a new one so far.

You just need to go another mission and you got new chemistry.

One thing I noticed. The lvl 20+ missions have an affinity (some of them). Some of the affinities I have are hyur, hyur and rogue, and hyur and mi'qote. I'm guessing if the proper race/class with the mission affinity goes they have an increased chance at getting a squad chemistry. Untested so far, but it seems a reasonable theory.

At least I'm kinda satisfy with most of my current chemistry though.
3 members have a chance to get Warfare : Tank
1 member have a chance to get Warfare : DPS
2 members have a chance to increase stats
2 have none yet(farming 3 routine missions but still ain't got it ...)
Just need one chemistry that get Warfare : Magick and I'll be golden !

I kinda pleased with my current chemistry, only 1 person still don't get any.

It seems that the affinity bonus will increase the stats of the chemistry bonus. My archer had her 20% change of bringing back a book increased to 100% when I send her on a mission that had an archer bonus

Well,I have good intention but you're right,though,i should mind my own business.

I got 1 that says when accompanied by an arcanist theres 30% chance of chemistry triggering

Agreed, my Elezen got his Bonus to strategy increased from 10% to 20%.

Btw. in the explanaition they always say that the boni will be lost after the mission, but I haven't lost any boni yet, do I missunderrstand that?

Each Squaddie has two slots for Chemistry.

The first is the Active slot. Any Chemistry here is never lost.
The second is the New Potential slot. You can move a Chemistry here to the Active slot, but you lose the existing Active slot Chemistry, if any. This slot is cleared whenever the Squad goes on a mission, I think. I'm not 100% sure on cases where the Squaddie in question is left behind.

To actually move a Chemistry from the Potential to the Active slot, you go through the Roster on the wall.

You nailed it. You can possess two chemistry, activate one, and lose the other when your squadron is deployed. You will never lose the one that is active until you slot in another chemistry attribute and deploy the squad.

As far as obtaining chemistry from what I have observed; it is totally RNG and must be quite low (I'm guessing around 10%). The reason for this is because the chemistry that gives a greater chance of chemistry triggering raises it to 30%, and 100% if you meet the affinity requirements. The other reason is because my Nanosomi is level 40, has been on nearly all the missions, and has yet to obtain any chemistry. The other seven members of my squad have at least one chemistry bonus. Even the ones hovering around level 35-37. He stomps around the barracks mummering, "No resect, I tell ya. I get no respect!"

I also don't think certain classes and races get certain chemistry. Three of my squad members have/had the 30% chemistry proc bonus. All different races and classes. Same goes for other bonuses to mental, tactical, and spoils brought back. We're all learning as we go :)

I'll throw in my squad chemistries...

Jolaine 46 GLD - "When all squadron members are of a different class, there is a a 40% chance to receive DoH-specific materia."

Careless Whisper 45 ROG - "When accompanying a gladiator, EXP earned by all squadron members is increased by 5%."

Cilia 48 THM - "When accompanying a pugilist, there is a 40% chance to receive Contemporary Warfare: Offence."

Ellice 45 GLD - "When all squadron members are of a different race, there is a 30% chance to receive Contemporary Warfare: Magicks."

Oah Nelhah 45 PUG - "When accompanying an Eleven, there is a 30% chance to receive Contemporary Warfare: Offence."

J'ludaba 44 ACN - "When accompanying an archer, tactical ability is increased by 10%."


I also have two recruits that still have not learned a chemistry despite having been sent on multiple missions (even with affinity bonuses...)

I would also like to note that in my observation so far, Mission affinity bonus either double the percentage or take it to 100% and ignore the first stipulation.

So Jolaine originally joins as a MRD and that is the job she learned her current chemistry on. This week I had two missions that boosted GLD, so out of curiosity I changed her to GLD. She kept her chemistry bonus, and when I put both her and Ellice on the same mission they both get 100% to receive their items. Jolaine's condition that all members be a different class is completely ignored.

Also, in my observation, Stat increase and EXP increase chemistry get doubled max by mission affinity, even if a recruit fulfills both Mission Affinity conditions.

For example, If I were to put Careless Whisper on a Mission with Roegadyn/Thief affinity, her chemistry would only double to 10%. It will not triple to 15%, or double twice to 20%...

Can you remove a Chemistry once confirmed is it permanent?

Can't literally remove though.you need to overwrite it with the new one.

Mission affinities will increase the % chance of your squad members getting the listed result.
The most favorable chemistry at the start is a % increase to chemistry accusation rate.
This will allow you to learn more chemistry’s on the other squad member quickly.
I have been using this to get as many as I can. But they are very random in the beginning.

Starting at the level 40 quest you start to receive better chemistry result like for Materia.
The % is determined by the preceding condition and the Value of the bonus.
So if it is accompany a Specific class the percentage is 50% better than if "accompanying any other class"
Being a party effect cause it to ½ the % like EXP earned by all squadron members increased by 5%
I think chemistry learn rates increase with the mission difficulty, I get more learned the higher the difficulty, 40 Missions with a +40% to chemistry have about an 80% chance at learning a chemistry

Once you finish the 40 Promotion mission (this gets you the next rank in the GC) then you can buy the change class books from the GC. They will lose 1 level from changing class. But using books to change the squad member with the chemistry to increase chemistry to 100% ensuring easy missions can give you new chemistry’s
I have only gotten max of 9 on grade 3 Materia and 4 on grade 4 Materia so far. If you get a V it might give less or even only 1
I have not gotten the scripts or Seals chemistry’s yet does anyone know how many you get from a mission?
These are the higher Chemestry’s

% chance to receive tank-specific materia
% chance to receive physical DPS-specific materia
% chance to receive DoM-specific materia
% chance to receive DoL-specific materia
% chance to receive DoH-specific materia
% chance to receive crystal clusters
% chance to receive gatherers' scrips
% chance to receive crafters' scrips

When your unit reaches Lv.50, it gets an added special effect in the appearance.

Oh so they're using augmented gear that has glowing effect? Seems cool.

I kinda like that we can modify our Squadrons to our personal preferences a bit.

You want scrips, wait for Scrips Chemistry.
You want 100% sucess rate for Lv40 missions, wait for stats bonis.
You want materia, wait for materia chemistry.

What I wanna try is, to have at least all three stat bonis at 15% or above, while the others can have materia and scrip chemistrys, cause the items will be useful in Stormblood, scrips might be important in 3.5 for new master books, and materia is great too.

The difficult part here, is to get the right conditions. for the main squad.

Nvm, changed my mind.
Here is what I do with my Squadrons (all need to be Lv50 for that):

1. First thing to do in the week: Lv40 mission, sending out Members which chemistries that don't fit my needs, or can be improved. Usage of Mission Affinity is pretty welcome.
2. Lv 20 missions with affinities, changing classes as necessary (those members need to level up to 50 again after that)
3. depending how many days of the week are left, deploying all other open mission with right compositions just to hope for RNG to give some extra cookies.

The boni stats I mentioned above are kinda useless, unless you want that Lv40 items more than any extra rewards. But because of the fact you can only clear one Lv40 missionper week, its not needed at all.
For me, I kinda like to receive materia, Gil, seals, MGP etc. I can adjust the chemistries to my needs, which is probably DoL / DoH materia, scrips and gil

Also, certain conditions are much more useful than others. The two ultimate conditions are "an active member" and "at or above a duty's recommend level". At lv 40 both are active all the time. The "above 50" condition sounds like it can also be be active if the member is at lv 50, but I need confirmation on that. the priority is as follows

1. an Active Suadron member
2. at or above a duty's recommend level
3. Above level 50 (only if it is triggered at lv 50, if not is useless at that point)
4. accompany with different race
5. same class (MAR, ARC and CNJ got the highest stats so you might want to have two of each)
6. different class
3. accompany with same race
7+. conditions like "if 3 are of same race or class" in certain ways it can be useful but only if you are able to recruit certain members

You want to have every race in your Squadron to take advantage of certain Affinitys
