Option to hide ear socks (Miqo'te only)

Please lol, I like certain head glamour items..and then suddenly..ear socks...I know some aren't a fan of them either one certain thing and are on others so I figured, how about an option to hide them.

Are you asking to have them be holes that the ears poke out of or are you asking for the ears to be concealed all together? I would be ok with the first one, the second, not so much.

Elezen need that too, it's kinda.. funny sometimes. The ear pouches can be longer than your ear length really is, and much thinner.

Probably should of clarified that, I forgot some hats did that, I prefer the first one as well.

The reason I've noticed for this, is that even if you actual ear size isn't its maximum, they accomodate the maximum size on all helmets and hats by default, wether your ears are that shape or not. Its much easier to model it that way I'm sure rather than do it on a per character basis, since everyones are different.

I also didn't know it did effect Elezen, never played as one.

I would love ear holes for my Miq's ears! That would be great!!

The ear socks bother me so much, they make no sense. They'd get hot and stuffy and you'd not be able to hear very well. :[

I like the Mi'qote ear pockets on some helmets, but on most things they do look rather silly.

But then again, without them the ears would probably be squished up against the head which is even less practical.

They never used to do this that much but pretty much all the new hats have them now, i prefer my ears showing :/

Yep, Lalafell and Elezan suffer from the ear socks, too.

An option to hide would be nice, but that would mean them just clipping through. Miqo'te all have the same ear model and size, so it's easier to model.

It might not be so easy for the other long eared races.

I'd prefer ear socks over just not having ears which is what a bunch of the new hats have now :(

Yeah I'm saying as well that they should not hide ears either...looks just as dumb lol, like wtf do we do? lay our ears flat?

Lalas also have to deal with this, pretty much like Iris said and we have the same problem that Arvid pointed out, the ear 'pouches' sometimes are bigger than your actual ear size. I don't like wearing helmets or hoods on my Lalas because of this, it looks ridiculous (same goes for when they were Miqo's, damn ear socks o)-< )

Admittedly, Lalafell and Elezen get LESS ear socks than Miqo'te, but yes we still get them on any hats that fall down over the ears, it's very weird on armored helmets.

But it's a lot more work to make an exception because of the protrusion to show the ears than it is to make a basic addendum like this. I mean they stopped giving special attention to tails with gear too.

It depends.

On hoods I could get it though at the same time a hood with holes for your ears would to some extent undermine the value of wearing a hood ie. protection from the elements. Frozen ears would hurt.

As for helms, the Socks make a huge amount of sense. Wearing a traditional help with pointy ears just sticking through would just be asking for your ears to get sheared off by the first sword strike. Helms deflect as much as blunt stop and it would literally be like creating a guillotine for your ears every time you took a head hit. At least the socks offer some protection in that case.

Ear socks are one of my FAVORITE things in the game. They make me want to switch to cat so much sometimes. It's just the fierce plate armor with a cute twist is just so perfect.

I have no qualms with having armor/cloth around the ears when it comes to helmets and robes, but seeing them on coifs does make me cringe a bit.

This option already exists in the game. It's called Hyur.

Or just hide headgear

So it appears this thread was moved out of suggestions where I put it..which is odd, is this not a suggestion? lol...anyway obviously for helmets/cowls it's a different story, but things like normal hats like Wild Silk as a perfect example, it looks a bit dumb.

I would love to see cut out holes, ear socks kinda make me wince a little when I see them on my character.

I do not mind some of the hats having the ear socks, and it makes sense that much of the actual armor (leather or metal) would have actual pieces crafted to accommodate miqo'te ears, though I imagine there would be some muffling of sound much as there is for humans in headwear, the one that has always bugged me is that there are so many hat designs that completely hide miqo'te ears altogether.

Not only would this be uncomfortable, but in a meta sense, it messes too with things like our emotes that use the miqo'te ears as a means of expression. Unlike some series with characters that have animal traits and the ears never seem to be used for anything, just there, Miqo'te ears are not merely vestigial and only for hearing, but still retain motor and body language communication functionality as well.

Let the ears clip through everything!

Everyone knows that the only reason to play a male cat is for the ear wiggles. Anything which prevents the ear wiggles is evil and must be destroyed. This includes those ear pockets on metallic helmets which deny the ears from doing the wiggles. Those hats which completely hide the ears are also a crime against nature.
